A list of puns related to "Faction Paradox"
When is a spinoff not a spinoff? When it veers so far from its source material that it is nearly its own thing? When it actively tries to scrub any references to its original source from its canon, often only semi-successfully? When it gets picked up by publishers who would never be allowed to touch the source's license?
All of these things are true about the strangest of Doctor Who's spinoffs, Faction Paradox. Originally a minor subplot throughout the Eighth Doctor Adventures series of novels, Faction Paradox eventually morphed into its own unique franchise that includes a multitude of books, short stories, audio dramas, and a comic that was cancelled after 2 issues. But what's most intriguing is the story behind how Faction Paradox broke away dramatically from mainline Doctor Who, created its own mythos, and was eventually reintroduced into Doctor Who in the most unexpected of ways.
Let's get started.
Part One: The Eighth Doctor Adventures
In May of 1996, the Doctor Who TV movie aired, marking the first small-screen return of the show since its cancellation in 1989. In the movie, audiences were introduced to the Eighth Doctor, played by Paul McGann, and while the movie didn't do well enough to get a revival off the ground there were plenty of writers who were enthusiastic about having another version of the Doctor to play around with. Therefore, in June 1997, the first book in the Eighth Doctor Adventures range of licensed Doctor Who books was published.
Now, one of the main issues with getting the Eighth Doctor Adventures range off the ground was the fact that the Eighth Doctor... didn't really have a coherent personality. He spends most of the movie confused due to his recent regeneration, kisses his companion (something never done in Doctor Who before), and drops the absolute bomb about him being half-human before going off into the universe. The early Eighth Doctor Adventures writers dealt with this issue in a variety of ways - some of them went hardcore into the romance angle, some of them picked up the darker and edgier tone of the previous Virgin New Adventures line of books, and some of them... well, some of them decided to get weird.
Enter Lawrence Miles. Miles had written three books for Doctor Who before in the 7th Doctor's Virgin New Adventures range, and he was already pretty notorious as one of the weirdest authors working on the franchise at the time. Christmas on a Rational Planet, for example, is mostly remembered for havin

Note:
I did try to complete the mission using /completemission with the missions ID but it didn't work and I need to actually tame the pet in game. Tried spawing it in then taming to no availn then finally tried putting the pet in my inventory. Still nothing.
That way, you don't run into issues where you might have to declare war on an ally just because they took a province that previously belonged to you. Also would clearly define where some factions want their territory and spark some tension between long standing allies over provinces they both claim. I guess it would make things more organized and be a better way to properly breakdown relations.
And I know that some people will go out and say "but the game is Total War, not total diplomacy" and stuff but I whole-heartedly believe that making diplomacy more in-depth would only make the game better.
Also does anyone know if there are any places in the setting that Dwarfs and any Humans have tense relations due to both claiming an area for themselves? I can't think of any off the top of my head.

The arc of series 13 is going to be about villains who escaped the Judoon prison after Jack rescued the Doctor. The Doctor fights all of the escaped villains such as the absorbaloff, the zarbi and the pting. (The BBC can't pretend we didn't see that zarbi leaked set photo.) In the finale the Doctor fights the Faction Paradox who escaped the prison and are off to kill the Doctor after finding out about the Timeless Child. The Doctor kills the Faction Paradox.
The first of the three specials is going to be the third of the dalek trilogy, Resolution of the Daleks, and it will feature the surviving bronze daleks from Revolution of the Daleks. In this it will be revealed that all along the Genesis of the Daleks lied to us and the daleks were originally blue humanoid creatures. In Destiny of the DALEKS we see one of Romana's incarnations was blue so it will be revealed thst Romana was the first of the humanoid daleks making Romana is the Timeless Dalek. Anyway the daleks are about to destroy Earth and take over the universe but the Doctor pushes a button on a special weapon which explodes all the daleks.
The other two specials will be a 2-parter where Rassilon and Omega return and it will be revealed that everything we learned in The Timeless Children was a lie and the Doctor is actually the Other and Leela is her mum. There will be a big war between the Doctor, Rassilon, Omega, the Master, the cybermasters, the surviving Faction Paradox, Romana the Timeless Dalek and Captain Jack's penis. Yaz gets tortured by the Master and dies moaning but Dan the Man doesn't die because Dan the Man is immortal. Dan the Man kills everyone to end the war, including the Doctor.
The Doctor regenerates into Nerderotic, and the new showrunner is the famous fan writer finally doing professional work, Steffan Moffat. The show is finally not based. Series 14 will be not be political, instead it will feature Donald Trump as a guest star and will have an all white male cast. Series 14's arc will involve fighting Dan the Man who has become evil. The Doctor imprisons Dan the Man in a dark matter universe inside a white hole.
Because the SJWs protest against Nerderotic as the Doctor, Steffan decides to make him regenerate into Bowelstreak because Bowelstreak is even less based.
Next is the 60th anniversary special. All the Doctors apart from the based political Jodie Shittaker come back! Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee, Tom Baker, Dom Baker, Peter Davichad, Silvester McCoy, Paul McChad,

We've all had our gripes with this seasons twists and turns, personally my least favourite aspect is the offhand (re)destruction of Gallifrey. Up until Chibnall's run, we have spent 10 seasons, years of content, dealing with a universe with only one timelord, without Gallifrey, and the immense consequence this has. It took a movie and John Hurt just to bring it back, we get to visit it once in a middling episode, and it's thrown in the trash again.
I think that disregarding the power Gallifrey has had as a symbol in New Who, of the once great lost world, is callous and full of disregard. It makes a mockery of the continuity that has been established, overriding themes that have linked each doctor together, the show now contradicts itself. Rather than lament this, we could treat it as an opportunity! Fold these themes and feelings that have been evoked into the show, into a big bad that has no regard for causality, that sees something like a Time War as something between a joke and an opportunity, something that thrives on a paradox. Something from the Doctor's past, in the war before the WAR...
There's the perfect reason to bring them back, and it's not even Chibnall's fault! Ask yourself, why was Gallifrey even saved in the first place? Well, the Doctor destroyed it, and in his regret he changes his past to save it. But to save Gallifrey it had to be destroyed... It's a bit of a bootstrap paradox. To me it seems like the kind of thing Faction Paradox thrives on, the idea of cause and effect being not so straightforward. What if this event has brought a resurgence in House Paradox? And then, who cares if Gallifrey is destroyed, we are now dealing with a group that lives outside of the rules that have been set. Who cares who the Timeless Child is? The Faction knows, the Faction chooses a new candidate to be Timeless on the regular, oh look, now it's the Master, now it's the Other, now it's K9. These things are trivial compared to something like the Enemy. House Paradox makes Gallifrey dangerous because it's a part of Gallifrey, and once the Homeworld is back it takes more than blowing up the Citadel to truly destroy a world that literally invented time.
It doesn't just work thematically, it also gives a lot of room for the show to just be cool again. Just imagine, the effects budget used to show off someone using their shadow as a weapon. Give us the ele

Some explanation: I was a big fan of the Paradox mod for C&C Red Alert 3 back when people were working on it, and I was disappointed when work on it ceased a few years back. There were so many fun ideas and concepts created for the mod and I felt it was a shame that nothing was ever going to come of it now.
So I went and started converting the factions in the mod to 9th edition 40k rules. Here's the link to the Google Doc.

Nations with factions are now infinitely inferior to factions with estates.
With the estates, you can activate many bonuses at the cost of virtually nothing. You can have increased gov cap, extra points in each category and whatnot. The call diet mechanic is also very strong, providing various bonuses and opportunities to nations with estates.
With factions, however, there is only one functionality - spending precious monarch points on pressing buttons, that give you bonuses. The bonuses are weak, especially if you factor in the negative modifiers you get, which can offset any positives you get from having the faction in power.
This issue is especially prevalent with merchant republics, arguably the weakest govt type in the game rn. The factions give bonuses that are seldom useful - as a republic you're likely not gonna grow big enough to benefit from the 10% goods produced modifier (Which comes at the cost of 10% manpower, which is a decent detriment) before reforming to a better govt type, not even talking about the events which make playing merchant republics a pain.
Could paradox please add more functionality to factions, make them interesting and an actually good alternative to estates for the nations that have them? The factions mechanic is severely lacking in features and making playing nations that have them less fun.
Picture the scene: after a long day's work in the mines four Raxxablaxxaflorian slaves make their way to the local beverage distribution service. They hand in their coupons and are given a deep red sludge by the beverage master. They quickly find a table and sit down, each one looking out the windows at the Sun God as it sets between sips of their Blessed Brew.
"Life's good, 'int it?" says one, his face contorted into a horrific visage that Raxxablaxxaflorians would call a smile. "The collective's doing well, and the Arch Prophet says the Sun God's blessed us with a perfect world only three stars away where we can expand."
"Sure is good to live under the Divine Mandate," says another. "Nothing like knowing the actions of your collective are blessed by the Sun God herself."
"Couldn't agree more," says the third, before downing the last of his sludge. "But I've got an idea that'd make things even better."
"An idea?" the first asks, expressing his puzzlement by performing a triple somersault. "You know what the Arch Prophet says about ideas, Evbhjjfds, they're unnatural."
"Just hear me out. What if we all started meeting secretly, in secluded mine shafts and the like, and moaned to each other about the injustices of slavery. We get all the other slaves in on it too, and pretty soon we have an entire network of Raxxablaxxaflorians complaining silently about working conditions, from here all the way to the hydroponic farms. Then, we start refusing to work efficiently, telling our masters that we deserve better than this. Once we've done that we could even consider rioting in the streets. Eventually the Arch Prophet'll be forced to give in and grant us freedom!"
The others were quick to voice their confusion at the idea, while all performing triple somersaults.
"What injustices of slavery?"
"Refuse to work efficiently? But that'd harm the collective! Why'd we want to harm ourselves?"
"What does 'deserve' even mean?"
The fourth, who was yet to speak, held up a tentacle to get the others to quieten down and stop performing gymnastics. He then performed a handstand to display how important what he was about to say was.
"But my brothers, surely we can all agree that we would be happier with the 74% happiness of freedom than the 74% happiness of slavery?"
And with that nugget of wisdom, the revolution began.
Someone pointed out that they don't do this with regulated slavery, so Paradox hasn't actually removed slaver

In my efforts to alleviate certain problems-induced cabin fever, I reread practically all my Faction Paradox books and rewatched Pyramids of Mars. I want to get into the faction paradox stuff. I know a lot about doctor who in general and want to dive deeper, is there any specific order to read faction paradox/anywhere to easily get them
I think i know enough lore to start this now so, what books should i read before starting the faction paradox and are there any other war in heaven books that aren't part of the faction paradox
Have you not read the Question?
I've never read the novels, but I've heard about them, and apparently Faction Paradox are this group that likes to mess around with time.
So they could be responsible for constantly re-writing Gallifrey's to include looms and The Doctor's history to include half humanity, with the time lords having to rectify the situation.
So all of the Doctor's origins can be canon whilst being true and untrue at some point!
So I'm looking to read some of the faction paradox stuff and I'm aware that the first book 'the book of the war' is both very expensive and also rare to come across. So I was wondering, can I still read the following books and have it still make sense?
What are some Faction Paradox characters who deserve their own spin-offs?
There's quite a few who I could see becoming the next Iris Wildthyme of the Doctor Who Expanded Universe and featuring in their own series.

Now we have yet another thing to blame continuity snarls on! Yay!
I want to get into this section of doctor who but dont know where to start. Is the war in heaven connected to the time war? Is the war in heaven part of the same continuity as the big finish/New who continuity? What is the faction paradox? Is there a reading order? Is there also a reading order for the war in heaven? I checked on tardis wiki but it was too confusing.
I was wondering if there were many YouTube channels about Faction Paradox? I've done a couple openings of Faction Paradox myself, but Faction Paradox content seems limited... Am I wrong?
