A list of puns related to "Lawrence Miles"
I'm slowly making my way through the Faction Paradox stuff, starting with the EDA novels. I've read Alien Bodies, Unnatural History, and Interference in full. Other than those, I've not read a single Doctor Who novel.
I'm vaguely aware that there is a companion named Bernice Summerfield, but other than knowing she exists, I've got nothing and have no idea who Christine Summerfield is.
Anything I need to know before going in that would save me from getting lost or can I go in blind?
Lovely little ride today. Runners on the bike path. Confused pedestrians. Freds trying to hit their strava segments. Playing in MagMile traffic. Riding around a still mostly abandoned loop. Soaking in the sun. Filtering through Milwaukee ave. Bike lane obstructions of snow and bad parking jobs slowwwwly receding.
I liked every minute of it. Time to clean the salt off the bike.

I am studying North of AFH on campus, wish I had gone out to see this
I'd be really interested to read it, but obviously it only went up for a week.
I'm not really familiar with Lawrence Miles outside of his blog. I remember finding his commentary on the new series fascinating, though I don't quite agree with everything he has to say. From what I've seen, fandom is divided on him as a person, but when it comes to his writing everyone seems to agree that his writing is amazing.
The only prose I've read of his was a copy of βAlien Bodiesβ which I've since given away. I don't really remember much of the story, but I've read that it's a precursor of sorts to his Faction Paradox series.
I'm not too familiar with the EDAs (I've read maybe 2 or 3 of them) but I know that they have a story arc of sorts running through them. If I want to read Miles' books do I need to be well-versed in the rest of the series? Are they massively interconnected or can they be taken as standalone?
Also, just how influential was Miles to the range? I get the impression there was some βdramaβ of sorts (like with certain story arcs getting junked or rewritten or things like that) but is that all just hearsay? Are his books indicative of the EDAs in general?
Would I need to have read them to enjoy Faction Paradox?
Hi ladies! I'm mostly a lurker, but wanted to share my birth story. Sorry for the length.
TLDR: FTM, delivered at 40+1. Water broke, fast labor vaginal delivery (pain at 1am, baby at 4:15am) with shitty epidural.
My due date was March 30, and I had been sitting at about 2cm/70% for a couple of weeks. Also lost my plug over about a week, with a good piece coming out that morning, but no other signs. I did not do any pineapple/labor cake/exercise ball/nipple stimulation/etc. I had resigned myself to going late, and then around 7:30 pm, I got up off the couch and my water broke! Huge gushing! Whoever on here said it felt like a fish tank of water coming out the vagina was spot on. Totally out of left field. Got our things together as the doc said to come in within an hour or so, and was in a triage bed around 9pm.
Obviously I had ruptured, so they just did some monitoring and blood draws before admitting me to L&D. Watching the monitors, I could match up my contractions with very mild menstrual-like cramps but I wouldn't have pegged them for contractions at that point on my own.
Got situated in the L&D room by 10:30 or so, excited and nervous! Still totally fine on contractions and asked for a popsicle. There's a photo of me enjoying it around 11pm. Around this time I realized the "period pains" were picking up to the point that I probably would have noticed them at home. Definitely still chatting through them. They increase gradually but manageable.
At midnight we sang "Happy Birthday" to my belly as we knew he'd be out on March 31st. By 1 am... I was MISERABLE. My amazing nurse checks me and she's like "you're at 2cm..." OMG. I felt like a complete wuss as I hadn't even dilated more since coming in but contractions were really getting painful. Nurse says "that's ok, don't be a hero, we'll put in the order for the epidural!" Turns out the anesthesiologist just got 2 back to back OR dates so it'll be a while. I rapidly worsen and needed my nurse to coach me through breathing--my husband picked up on how she was coaching me through it and did this the rest of the delivery. The nurse can tell I'm not doing well, and managed to convince the anesthesiologist to run up and place my epidural in between his surgeries. It was DIFFICULT to stay still but my husband got me through with the breathing. I couldn't wait to be blissfully numb.
For half an hour or so, it felt like the epidural took the edge off the sharp contraction pains, but my blissfu
