Quercetin is a naturally occurring dietary flavonol and several reports have shown that quercetin substantially affects cognitive function in disease models, which suggests that quercetin might be a useful agent for treatment of memory dysfunction. However, only one report has examined the effects of quercetin on normal cognitive function. In the present study, we investigated the potential deleterious effects of quercetin on normal cognitive function using Western blot assays and the following behavioral tasks: passive avoidance, Y-maze, and Morris water maze. In the passive avoidance task, pre-acquisition administration of quercetin (10, 20, or 40 mg/kg, p.o.) caused significant cognitive impairments in mice (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). Quercetin-treated groups (10, 20, or 40 mg/kg, p.o.) also showed significant memory impairments compared with the control group in the Y-maze task (P < 0.05). In the Morris water maze task, there were no significant differences among the groups during training trial sessions, but at the probe trial session, the quercetin-treated group (40 mg/kg, p.o.) spent significantly less time in the target quadrant than did the control group (P < 0.05). In Western blot assays of hippocampal tissue, we found that quercetin-treated groups showed decreased expression of phosphorylated Akt (pAkt), phosphorylated calcium-calmodulin kinase II (pCaMKII), and phosphorylated cyclic AMP response element-binding protein (pCREB). These results suggest that acute administration of quercetin impairs cognitive function by suppression of pAkt and pCaMKII, which, in turn, decreases pCREB expression in the hippocampus.
Sometimes, I come across some content or someone says something that triggers me. I notice myself getting triggered, tell myself nothing good will come out of it, then I usually manage to hold back and not express my anger outwardly.
However, I feel like this leads to repression. I know this because I keep track of my dreams daily and all these emotions come out in the dream.
Is it healthy, at times, to express the anger, especially if the purpose of the anger is to protect rather than to dominate others? If not, how to deal with the suppression? I already meditate daily and follow the precepts as much as I can
im one of those touretters who has rage attacks about once a monthβ¦. but every single day i have to suppress violent urges triggered by other peopleβs sounds.
when someone sips from a cup vocally and says βahhβ¦β, or when someone slurps their lips at a piece of chicken, or when someone says βmm-mmm, this is good!ββ¦β¦. i feel a STRONG impulse to run at them and strangle them and bang their head against the wall repeatedly while screaming complaints and insults at them. it takes a lot of willpower to hold it in. it almost makes me cry sometimes (im a transgirl).
does anyone else suppress homicidal rage daily?
I am in a romantics lit class and I am really confused about how to look at a text and make an argument while keeping in mind that this is a romantics class (I just cannot seem to grasp this artistic movement). Its just such a confusing class and I don't know what else to say. I am having difficulty constructing an argument accordingly and or what kind of questions the text raises (I am analyzing the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley).
The subject of the objectification of women gets a lot of traffic. But what people tend to overlook is the sexual suppression of men, which I believe may be in some part perpetuated by the common fallacy of confusing overcompensation for equality. Which is to say, men must be careful not to appear predatory. This, on top of being deathly afraid of showing any hint of what could be interpreted as homosexual behavior, which of course carries it's own stigmas.
As far as femboys are concerned, the act of wearing women's clothing is often misconstrued as being perverted, and motivated only by fetishes. But comparing the permutations between fashion and gender reveals a double standard: women can, to a reasonable extent, express a considerable amount of sexuality through their clothing without fear of causing an upset. However when a man attempts to express sexuality in the same way, especially through use of women's clothing, it's weird, and often associated with sexual submissiveness (as a result of women being associated with submission), and by extension, weakness and vulnerability, and therefore, a shameful inability to fulfil their role as a male. And may even, God-forbid, indicate the big gay.
Inversely, a woman can wear men's clothes without batting an eye.
Those are my thoughts. Let me know what you think, if you have anything to add, if you have any experiences with this fallacy, or what have you.
Hi all,
Requesting this article if someone has it. Can't seem to find it on scihub or anything.

There's something valiant and romantic about the road of self expression and indeed that's the one I'm leaning towards these days (life is short and fragile and meaningless plus fuck being called boring) but when it comes time to put theory to practice, accidentally offending people or getting the sidewards glare or noticeably unsettling or annoying people isn't a great feeling either - even if they are perhaps the ones with the problem.
How do you find the right balance though?
P.S. People may not be explicit about you being too intense or too boring but it's usually quit obvious from their nonverbal communication
Something I just realized, since I will be returning to the office soon after working from home since last year, is that I will need to remember to suppress rolling my eyes during staff meetings π©
Are there any βwork appropriateβ behaviors/habits that you ladies (or fellas) will need to relearn after working from home over the past year?
