A list of puns related to "Evernote"
I thought of starting the new year on something bright! And I thought of sharing my journey and thought process. Like most users, I got frustrated, disappointed and aggravated with the Evernote platform. To make things even worse, their support was even abysmal. At times, I felt as if I was speaking to a wall. And to be fair, there are far worst tech companies out there. With the roulette of changing CEOs, there seems to be a lack of foresight in Evernote's leadership; direction and innovation. Most importantly, not listening to its users.
We live in an age where it is hard to avoid Electron Applications. Their recent shift to unify all their App via Electron seemed great on paper. I have nothing against Electron Application if it is done right. However, as a long time Evernote user, I got dissatisfied with their implementation; Removing features and constant performance issues, to name a few! The platform is plagued with technical debt.
Background
I consider myself a power user, and I have about 6K notes in Evernote, spanning over 80 plus notebooks. And I realise that I became an article and notes hoarder in the span of 14 years.
There are several Apps and SaaS platforms in the note-taking and productive space. Each to cater to different needs and workflows. So there is no one platform to rule them all. Because every one of us is different. And we all have different workflows and criteria. I have tried most of them like Nimbus Notes, DEVONthink, and so on. Not just try on a surface level but really dive deep into all the advanced workflows. As a user of both Mac and Windows, having a cross-platform application was one of my priorities too.
However, after an extensive search and testing (For about 6 to 8 months), I decided to make Notion my new home. So I thought of listing down my thought process. I believe there might be some users who might find my little write-up helpful.
During this migration process, I took it upon myself to have a retrospective look at my entire 6K notes within 80 plus notebooks. I was delighted to delete and purge old notes and articles that were outdated and irrelevant. Yes, I when through all of my 6K notes. One by one! It was a time-consuming and tedious process. But, it was really worthwhile for me to plan the next decade of my life. I soon realise that I am more of an architect than a librarian or a gardener. Read Anne-Laure Le Cunff's Article. During m
... keep reading on reddit β‘I did a lot of experiments with OneNote, that beacuse i like it very much, it will be my second choise. I had already used it months ago, but I still wasn't ready. This time I was barely there I think 10 days. But it will be my first choice if Evernote falls. But Ian Small's blog post has given me a lot of confidence, the revenue is good, the company has renewed and is healthy. For long lasting terms there are much smaller apps than Evernote that have been around for years, so I think for many more years Evernote will be there, living, as they call themselves, with the old fashioned method, not selling data as do other smaller apps, but getting paid to protect it.
Now let's move on to the technical considerations. OneNote for me as reliability is on the same level as Evernote, and I only look for reliable apps, I need a digital file cabinet, OCR, annotate pdfs (with OneNote if you try to annotate a pdf, there is no way to save the file ) hierarchical organization but not too much, immediate tags. Encrypt sensitive data, leaving normal data to be searched. One thing I've noticed only Evernote has is the MULTI LEVEL FEED (In my own words) pretty much ALL apps, BUT JUST ALL, have a feed of notebooks and folders only. I have never seen in ANY app, the notes of a higher level, stacks and so on. The IOS or Android app for OneNote still sucks. But I'm pretty convinced my second choice is OneNote.
I will take advantage of the 50 percent discount to make a Personal subscription. 2022, as far as I'm concerned, is still with Evernote. But like any client I keep an eye on forums and blogs.
P.S. The legacy app up to now sucks. Use the new app guys
I find my self quite fine in Evernote but if the app goes down i will go to OneNote. I also like a lot Obsidian and i often play around with it, but as every migration (countries or apps) it mean only stress. Yesterday i tried a general test and everything went fine. To migrate from EN into Onenote donβt use the official importer, it sucks and doesnt work anymore. A cool importer is from Onenote Gem batch 2016. Not free but cool efficient and works. Up to now iβm fine with Evernote. Migrating are always stress
Hello,
I am having a problem with Shortcuts, and I'd like to request your help.
Background
I've been an Evernote user for about 10 years and have been disappointed by the performance of the company's redesigned app, which they released about a year ago. As a result, I've decided to try using Apple's Notes app insteadβthis app seems to be less sluggish than Evernote, plus it has the benefits of deeper integration with various elements of iOS, such as Control Center and Siri.
Problem
How do I successfully migrate all my notes from Evernote to Apple Notes?
Approaches I've Tried to Solve this Problem
I have tried a few approaches for migrating my collection of about 2,500 notes from Evernote to Apple Notes, including:
Problems with Approach #3
Assuming I want to proceed with approach #3, it seems like there are two problems I need to tackle:
At the moment, I am focusing on Problem #2. I created a

Hi there,
I though I'd post some simple tricks I use to "integrate" my rM with Evernote without installing any software.
1. How to send a file to a Notebook in Evernote:
If I want so save anything I have on my rM onto Evernote, I send it from my device to my Evernote email address. If I rename the file to @rM for example before I send it, then Evernote files it directly into my Evernote notebook called rM (Important: I had to create this on Evernote beforehand! The @ tells Evernote to send the file to a certain Notebook.
2. Add tags to the note:
If I also add tags, e.g. #notes #diary, to the name of the notebook on my rM, then when I email it to Evernote the note that is created will be assigned these tags as well (again provided these tags already exist on Evernote).
3. Add reminder to the note:
I can also add a reminder in the file name on the rM. If, for example, I add the text !2022/01/14 then Evernote will read this as a request to set up a reminder for tomorrow.
A typical name of a file on my reMarkable, that I might send to my Evernote address, could then be "@rM #2022 #meetings #students !2022/01/14" (without the quotes). Note that the elements need to be in this order for things to work. I can send both handwritten notes or use the handwriting-recognition and send it to my Evernote email address and it works.
4. Renaming the Note on Evernote:
Once the note arrives in my Evernote I usually rename it on Evernote to something more intelligible.
I hope this inspires some of you others out there to try this out. Let me know how you get on.
Scammers are using the note taking app Evernote to try and fish for victims.
Back during the summer I got a notice from Evernote that they had been hacked and passwords were compromised. Since I hadn't used my Evernote account for 6 or 7 years and had no intention of using it anymore (also I had no personal info saved on it) I ignored their warning to change my password.
Then in October I received another security alert from them saying that there was a suspicious login into my account from France; I live in the USA. I figured that I'd change my password, but I was unable to remember my password from so long ago, I just said the heck with it.
Then yesterday I got another security alert from Evernote saying there was another suspicious login, again from France. So, I was curious about what this person was doing with my account so after trial and error I was able to guess my password and login. I saw that my account was totally as I left it with one exception- the hacker created their own note containing an address for an Ethereum wallet and its private key. I used ETHscan to check it out and the wallet contains about $3k worth of TOMO.
I'm assuming that the scam is to get someone to add ETH to try and move the TOMO then the hacker steals the ETH.
Anyway I thought this was interesting. If you use Evernote change your password. If you use any note taking app, don't keep personal info in it.
TLDR: Hacker hacked my Evernote account, and left a note with and ETH wallet and key.
Hey folks, I haven't used Evernote in years (the last time I used Evernote was when I got a free premium upgrade from my Galaxy Note 3...). I've been using Notion for the better part of the last several months but it's just becoming too complicated for my liking. I want something that's simple, easy to use, and intuitive...Notion is none of those things. I would also like better task management, and Notion also doesn't have that.
I stumbled across Evernote, and instead of writing it off like I've done in the past I decided to actually look into it again and oh my has Evernote matured into a very solid app. I've installed it, made a new account to test it out, and want to give it a more in-depth test over the next few weeks before deciding to subscribe or not (stupid device limit...)
My biggest thing is bringing all of my notes from Notion over to Evernote. Some of them will be easy, but I have a database of probably 100+ notes that would take forever to migrate manually, so I wanted to see if y'all had any suggestions?
Thanks!
Iβve been using Evernote for over 2 years and I have 500 odd notes (mostly my short stories, essays and lot of web clippings). Recently Iβve tried exporting a few notes and I couldnβt generate PDF. It was stuck mid way and I ended up copy pasting them on docs and then exporting the content as PDF.
Iβm looking for an alternative that is reliable and helps me export my data in a proper format (like TXT or PDF or MD)
I tried a few apps, but was not satisfactory.
Is there anything else that would help me? I feel like Iβve exhausted most options.
I still canβt choose which one to use, so I wanted to hear the current pros and cons from the people who tried it all and made a choice.
Personally, I end up using Evernote just because itβs easy and cross-platform but I really donβt like that thereβs not some built in system for organizing notes and making connections apart from the tags.
Obsidian is great too but somehow I donβt trust it for small notes, donβt know why.
The others seem a bit of an overkill for my purpose.
What are your thoughts on this?
I came across Zoho Notebook, by Zoho. It's a free alternative to Evernote and it looks really good.
Though I'm not exactly sure if my notes are really stored encrypted and if Zoho is able to access any of my notes?
They do state:
Your notes inside Notebook are Encrypted at Transit and Rest (EAR) which means no one but you can view and access your notes.
But what does that exacly mean, Encrypted at Transit and Rest? Are my notes really secure?
Can someone explain this in Sesamestreet language?
Acknowledging that βsaferβ is a relative term, my sense is that Appleβs security is better than average. (βSaferβ = less chance of hack/data breach of a commercial app)
I complained about a problem with Evernote synching on my Desktop version running on Win 10.
I was using 6.25.1.
They gave me this link to 6.25.3.
https://cdn1.evernote.com/win6/public/Evernote_6.25.3.9348
It solved my synch problem.
Today it took about 15 seconds just to load the app on my phone. Tried changing one word, wonβt save the note, canβt get back to the main page. But hey, new featurez!
Edit: now have multiple copies of the note. That I tried to change a word in.
Last year I got Evernote Premium and now I keep everything there. Some of you might already know that you can send pdfs attached to an email to a dedicated Evernote address. I found out yesterday that the mail feature on the Supernote comes very handy, since you actually don't have to export the note: just compose an email, enter your personal Evernote address, and write. This is how I am going to keep a daily journal.
I'm seeing a lot of people posting about how they are trying to protect themselves from Evernote's broken, buggy, flaky performance through backups using the Legacy app.
Fool's paradise.
There is a KNOWN BUG in the Legacy exporter than loses data. Evernote has known about it for years and has not fixed it. Evernote will not even warn people trying to leave.
Worse, a user WROTE CODE to fix this bug for Evernote, so Evernote could now fix the data loss in an afternoon. But Evernote chose not to. For OVER TWO YEARS Evernote chose to continue corrupting user data if users try to leave Evernote (or try to backup). Evernote KNOWS your note backups may well be corrupt, but they won't tell you or fix their broken exporter EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW HOW.
I got hit by Evernote's known bug, and did not know my Evernote material exported with missing data until a month or so after I had converted to another note app and had added hundreds of notes. I now had two incomplete sets of data - a very bad position to be in. It took a long time to sort it out and I am still not sure I have fixed it all. The one bright spot is I had to spend so much time in my new app adding the data back that I learned a lot of its features and now I like it a lot more than Evernote.
Evernote made a lot of user-hostile decisions, like forcing out buggy, broken, pre-alpha code on paying customers, forcing paying customers to serve as unpaid beta testers, refusing to provide any more security patches to legacy, killing legacy Android and iOS apps, etc. But people try to justify those. Why do you think Evernote made this customer -hostile choice?
Maybe because Evernote would rather you lose data than let you leave for other software?
How do Evernote's true believers justify this failure to patch the exporter as anything but deliberate hostility toward paying customers? Here are the gory details:
Also, note that the data export bug appears to be plaguing V10 as well as legacy:
tldr: Don't say no one warned you.
Hey Evernote - can we chill with the in-app advertising?
This week I finally gave in to the annoying ads inside Evernote and gave up my 12 year old paid subscription and upgraded to the personal plan. My hopes were 2 fold - to get more out of tasks, and to get Evernote to stop advertising to me inside a platform I pay to use.
Alas, I may achieve one of my goals, but today Evernote is not only inviting me to upgrade to a pro plan to get more features... but it's also asking me if I want to save 50% on the personal plan which I am already subscribed to - hint: this is the exact deal I took advantage of earlier in the week to upgrade to the personal plan. This isn't an upgrade anymore... Ugh...
I saw the app (WINDOWS 10) opened at PRACTICALLY the same speed as the legacy version. Tell me I'm an Evernote employee, tell me what you want. Today, with the latest update, I saw the app opened almost instantaneously. What will Evenote haters and shills do on reddit now? Will they finally start using Evernote 10x too?

The app was NOT already started. I opened it after turning on the pc
Wanting to pick up GTD again after a long hiatus.
I originally set up Evernote to be my platform but I spent a lot of time "managing my workflow" rather than actually getting work done. Endlessly refining how to use the system etc and it never quite fit.
After searching through the sub it looks like Omnifocus is dealer's choice. Is that still the case? Any tips on migrating from EvNote to OmniFocus?
Thanks all.
Hello. I've been an Evernote user since 2009, but I am finally fed up and wish to change applications. I deeply dislike the 'upgraded' Android app, and I receive an email at least once a week alerting me to attempted unsuccessful logins, from around the world to my Evernote account (most recently this morning). This has been going on since a month after I had a phone stolen earlier this year by a pickpocket in South America. I hope it is not related (the email address associated with my Evernote account was leaked in a website breach in 2012) as the phone showed no activity after it was stolen so I assume it was immediately wiped.
I use Evernote on Android and Windows 10. I'm not a power user, I really only use Evernote for to-do lists and other lists. But this may change. I'm looking for a replacement app that is security-focused and hopefully free. It looks like Joplin is often recommended here as an alternative.
Which replacement would you recommend?
Enex2Notion is proving to be a successful way to export from Evernote to Notion. Export a single ENEX per folder. Enex2Notion imports the ENEX to Notion with tags and images. :-)
I have just discovered this tool made by u/changobenson!
As we all know, the native Evernote importer in Notion is broken. To add further salt to the injury the Markdown importer is also broken. Notion team has no plan to fix them as they have other priority. I guess changing colour scheme was more paramount.
With this tool, users don't have to deal with converting their ENEX files to MD format that is required by other tools like md2notion.
For any users who wish or want to migrate all your Evernote's Notebooks into Notion, this tool really serves as a rescue.

More than a year has passed since Apple introduced the M1 processor and new computers based on it, and during this time the creators of Evernote failed to adapt the application for this processor.
The application via emulator is slow to start (which is unacceptable for notes) and drains the battery if it hangs in the background.
Do the developers plan to make an application for M1 or should I look for another application for notes?
Hello,
is Notion somehow able to handle scanned pages, webclip every website and simply can be replacement for evernote?
For me it's also hard to learn and use Notion in a proper way.
Evernote is so much simplier.
Iβve been a long time user of Evernote (for android) going on 4 years. Itβs pretty good. I enjoy using it and the widgets on the Android make it much easier to write notes down quick, and organize them just as well.
Iβm soon going to fully move to iOS, and needed to switch over to Evernote on there. My thing is, is that as soon as downloading Evernote from the App Store, is it SUCKS by comparison to the android version. Also, I have to pay now for the same quality I get with android? The iOS layout is terrible, not to mention it wants me to make purchases just to do basic things, such as organizing.
Really need some assistance here, if thereβs a way to manage it Iβll return to it.
Iβve used Evernote for years and I absolutely loved it. But I really need to find an alternative as Iβm using the legacy version of the app and who knows for how long this will be an option.
Iβve tried several options in the last few months: Bear, Joplin, Standard Notes, Quip, Apple Notes. None of them work for me. Iβm hoping somebody can help me find another alternative.
Must haves:
Run locally on my machine. This is the one and only reason I have to walk away from Evernote. My stuff cannot be on a cloud I do not control, and I unfortunately have very limited leeway in what cloud system I can use (pretty much none) so local is best for me. No need for collaboration tools whatsoever.
Powerful search function. Evernote is so so so good in that area compared to everything else. The predictive search is something I miss a lot, and just accurate search in general. Standard Notes seems to be the best so far in that area and Apple Notes the worst.
File integration: Evernote let me add files/pictures/emails or email links to my notes. Iβve come to realise I cannot work without this.
Decent text editor: I don't use markup but a simple WYSIWYG editor can do the trick, ideally with automated formatting for numbering / bullet points.
Tag functionality.
If I could import my Evernote archive that would be nice but I can live without it. I also really like the "last updated/most recent" notes widget on Evernote as well as pinning notes but again, it's less of a must have.
I am happy to pay big bucks for the perfect replacement as this is hurting my productivity so much.
Any suggestions? thanks!!
Today has been an important day in my professional life, and IF I have achieved a certain level of awareness and also (little) success among people and also working WITH people, I owe that to Evernote too. Unfortunately the trolls will say that people who love Evernote are paid by EVERNOTE. Instead I am a 30 year old boy who finally thanks to Evernote I have my life organized. I know there are some things that aren't perfect, but I'm satisfied with how I organize the information and how I find it. Good work to everyone.
Iβm curious as there is lot of backlash on it.
Iβm looking for something to manage,
Anything you moved that fits this bill?
I can't decide which app should i use, basically I want to use it to organize my life. The system im going to use is bullet journal by ryder carrol. i like notion but its doesnt have offline access. I am living in philippines and internet connection here is not reliable and sometimes power outage is a problem. Is evernote reliable for long term use? If im going to use evernote i would subscribe on personal plan since its 50% off now in my country, not sure if its same with other countries. So notion or evernote? please help
Hi everyone! Long-time Evernote user here. I finally decided to migrate to Notion, but their built-in system didn't work all that great for me for some reason. Also, they didn't have an option to import *.enex
files exported from Evernote. So I decided to make my own tool!
Enter enex2notion! You can grab a portable binary for your OS here or install it using pip install enex2notion
.
Usage is rather simple, but you'll need to get the token_v2
cookie from Notion. See this article on how to get it. Then you just run it providing --token
and path to *.enex
file(s) or directory with *.enex
files like this:
$ enex2notion --token <YOUR_TOKEN_HERE> "my_notebooks/Test Notebook.enex"
It will add Evernote ENEX Import
page to your collection and upload all notebooks as children of that page. You can choose if you want your notebooks to be uploaded as databases or pages with --mode
option. The program also supports continuation of interrupted uploads with --done-file
option. For further instructions, please refer to the repository page.
I have a somewhat modest collection of notes (under 1k), and I don't go crazy with formatting so I may have missed some use cases. I only tested it on my own notes, so please be patient and feel free to report any problems or requests in the comments below or by opening an issue; I will do my best to respond as quickly as possible :)
By the way, you can try my other tool evernote-backup which provides an alternative (and quicker) way of exporting notebooks from Evernote.
I have been a paid user of EN since 2010 I believe and the inability to do nested notebooks/tags killed me. Bear is amazing at this but overall I use these apps not for note taking but for a repository of basically everything, scanning and importing docs of all varieties, and saving websites in an offline format. Evernoteβs clipper just canβt be beat so I think Iβm stuck with the inefficient process of clipping to EN then exporting to Bear. Any solutions?
Not trying to sound negative, Iβm just new enough to Bear I donβt know any other way. Iβm on a Mac and iPhone and do most of my web clipping while on my phone. Seems the cleanest looking clips are on desktop however; Iβm unsure how to export from EN to Bear directly on iOS. Anyone know?
Thank you! Appreciate any and all help.
I donβt want to renew my annual subscription to Evernote which is due in a couple of weeks. I found this video on how to export notes on Evernote. https://youtu.be/xO0r5IbPWYM Is this the best way to accomplish it? Thanks.
For each tech I buy or am gifted, I download these manual in PDF, capture receipts etc. and a link to the product description on Amazon or manufacturer's website.
Hello, all!
Happy New Year!! I hope 2022 brings everyone many amazing opportunities.
I am current in graduate school, and I would like to find a good notetaking app, as using GoodNotes and handwriting them takes literal years. I am stuck between Evernote and Craft. I like to divide my notes by class so being able to separate them out in folders or βnotebooksβ and NOT tags, is super important to me. I also want to make sure that this app is optimized for use with an iPad Pro with a Magic Keyboard. I will also be using my Macbook to take notes as well, but I really prefer the iPad. Please let me know which one yβall think is best, what your experiences have been, the cost of each, etc.
Hi everyone, I've been an EN user for five years and I use it mainly to write songs. All my ideas are on this app and every day I am constantly in fear of losing everything because of EN's decline in quality. What can I do? From what I've read switching over is really difficult but my fear tells me I will have to, better sooner than later.
I was unaware (dumb, I know) that Evernote puts both the Created Date and Modified Date into every note saved.
So I put hundreds of notes into my Evernote system and for each one I preceded the title with 2021-12-31***_*** (i.e. the current date when I created the note). For example: 2021-12-31_Current Layout of control room
Is there any way I can go back, in bulk, and remove that date information from hundreds of new notes?
TIY
Day 502:
Dude. I just spent the last 15 minutes trying to add 2 pictures into a note. Was met with constant lag, scrolling issues restarted the app multiple times. Finally reloaded and had 10 versions of the note.
Edit: Deleted the 10 notes. Switched to computer, theyβre back. Deleted, back to iPad theyβre back.
I'd appreciate it if you could let me know if Evernote is no longer relevant to me. Or if I am overlooking a use that would benefit me.
Let me explain: Iβve used Evernote for about four years and saved everything to Evernote. But, about two months ago, I unconsciously stopped using it and have not missed it :( I started keeping track of things on Google Sheets because it made sense. I saved documents to google drive to share them with non -Evernote users, And kept track of to-dos with Todoist (Iβve used Todoist for years, and I tried Evernoteβs new todo feature, but it seemed to get messy and confusing after about a week).
Thank you for your insight!
Any way to revert this back to internal links? I have ZERO interest in the web version...
