I reported unauthorized transactions yesterday to my eastwest account to my branch. Are there other ways to retrieve my money if the bank’s investigation doesn’t favor me?

Four different transactions yesterday. I found it strange because i was not asked for OTPs. The investigation is on-going but the bank says its not a guarantee.

PNB or Eastwest Bank

I'm planning to open a savings account either pnb or eastwest dahil sila yung walking distance na bank from our house, thinking of opening sa pnb dahil may promo sila na no fees even if bumaba sa minimum adb, but I really don't mind the minimum adb, I believe kaya ko naman mag maintain nang 3k adb, and I dont mind kung mababa ang interest, I just want to put 50% of my EF sa mga local banks just in case na kailangan agad nang pera, and the other half is stay sa digital bank. I never had any friends or colleagues na may EW bank savings, so wala din akong makuhang feed back.

Anyone na may savings either/both sa mga banks nato. Like how convenient yung online/mobile banking nila and personal experience with staffs or CS.

Thank you.

Komo (by EastWest Bank) Insurance

I just noticed the Insurance tab on my Komo app. They're offering term life insurance plan -critical illness, death, and disability for very low annual premium.

You get to choose your coverage:

100k for P 261 annual premium 300k for P 723 annual premium 500k for P 1,185 annual premium

Any thoughts about this or has anyone here acquired the insurance already?

Edit: added details.

EASTWEST BANK - horror story

I have a savings account in EWB with auto loan. Planning to transfer my savings to other banks with quality customer support.

I am having a nightmare reaching out to them. I can't fathom why they treat their customers like sh!t.

  1. Customer service via phone is the worst. The agent ALWAYS hung up after having me wait for 30min. The golden time we just talked when I gave out my details after greeting me then poof gone like a wind.

  2. Going to branch didn't do anything. The lady said she has NO idea and just endorsed me to call the hotline from HELL. Kill me now.

Do you have worse experiences at EWB and how did you overcame it? I never had this experiences from other banks like BPI who had really good customer service. Thanks. Need your experience to know what's my next steps.

You can choose Eastwest Bank when transferring from Unionbank to KOMO

I read somewhere that you need to choose Eastwest Rural Bank instead of just Eastwest Bank when transferring to KOMO.

Apparently, Eastwest Rural Bank is not available in the the list of banks under Instapay for Unionbank. I tried with BPI, Eastwest Rural Bank appeared on the list.

I searched for a solution to this but since KOMO is relatively new, I found no similar concerns. So I tried making a transaction again. This time, I chose Eastwest Bank instead. Luckily, the transaction went through!

Not sure if this could help someone, I just thought I needed to share this. Cheers!

Update: Found a comment by KOMO saying this is only a workaround and will be removed in the future.

EastWest Bank - Peso Time Deposit

Hi everyone!

I currently have PHP 500,000 which is 85% of my emergency fund. I was thinking of placing it in EastWest Bank's Peso time deposit. Rates are found below:

https://preview.redd.it/kys5td85o3441.png?width=672&format=png&auto=webp&s=d418cec47055e3bb78bee6018ddf1ab24a3492c4

I plan to get the 30-day maturity and just keep doing 30 days every time since the interest rate would be the same even if I make it 1 year. At least if it's just 30 days, the risk is lower - in case I would be needing the fund for an emergency.

If my computation is correct, 500,000 * (3%/12) * 0.8 = 1,000 So after 1 month, my money would have earned PHP 1,000.

Would just like to know your thoughts if this looks like the right and smart thing to do. Please note that I am aware of ING and CIMB's promo now but I am not comfortable YET trusting my money with a digital bank.

Thanks in advance!~

Planning of opening a Time Deposit Account with Eastwest bank. Any tips?

Good day people of r/phinvest! Just a little background. On March 2019, I will receive my share in our office paluwagan. Originally, I plan on using the money for a concert, but unsure if my favorite band would come to The Philippines, so I decided, to put my money in a Time Deposit Account. I researched banks, and I think Eastwest bank has the best rates I've seen so far. And I already have a SA with Eastwest and their online facility makes it easier for me to put money in their time deposit account. Is it wise to invest in a time deposit account? Or should I find other investment opportunities? (e.g. UTIFs, Mutual Funds, Banccasurance, etc.), BTW, I'm a novice in terms of investing. Hope you wonderful people can help me. Thank you!
