A list of puns related to "Doors and Windows (EP)"
(I don't post much and this is a test post so I can share with someone in r/DIY as it's not eligible to actually post there, hope this is ok.)
Moved in to a multi-family home and needed some privacy/sound improvement without losing the best source of light in our basement living/working area.
Polycarbonate to the rescue! Bought from a local supplier at less than half the price at Home Depot.
Works great for sound and light needs, as well as heat! (Upstairs likes it cold, basement likes things livably warm lol, this is not conducive to heating bills with such an open transition).
It's not finished trimming in but so far material costs have been $450CAD. I estimate another $300 to trim it in because I used bigger lumber than I should have and it's SUPER awkward to cover with trim.
It's totally removable - can uninstall and patch about 3 screw holes in ceiling and 4 in walls, touch up any paint nicks, fluff up the carpet and Abra cadappened, it's like it never happened

Cast: me:me EP:the bitch EK: the bratty kids P:police
Ok so backstory: we use to live in a nice street but one day some people move in across from us who is of course EP and her three EKs so letβs begin
So a few years ago I was alone at home playing on my Xbox until I hear a CRASH. So I look out my window and see that the back of our car window was shattered and the three EKs with a slingshot and some stones laughing
I then run out side and scream Me: wtf!!! What have you done!?! EK:weβre just having fun Me:and your version of fun is to break car windows?! EK:the youngest one a little tearfulwell ye EP now sees what is going on and comes out
EP:why the f**k are you screaming at my babies! Me:well maybe you should discipline them once in a wile EP: why Me: have you seen what they did to my car! EP:so? Itβs just a window! Me:well I was about to say that we could put some money together and pay for it but now your paying it in full! The blind me not noticing one of the EKs geting on there hands and eknees EP:like hell!then pushes me over EK I then land with the back of my head cutting it Me:bitch! Thatβs it Iβm call the police!
They all then to run inside and hide as i do. The police then arrive and I tell them what happened P:ok so where are they now? Me:inside but they may have gone out the back or something P:ok then, by the way do you want an ambulance? Me:yes please P:ok then Iβll radio it in then Iβll go in Me:ok
He then proceeded to find them and bring them out and fines her for destruction of property which covered the cost of the car window and she is also charge for assault so win for me
So thatβs it btw this is my first post so please donβt hate much
I lived in a house built around 1900 for a few years. No weird experiences up until this point. I was hanging out with my friends when we heard the door open. I went to the next room and shut it, along with the open windows. My friends got a bit spooked, so we went upstairs to my bedroom. A few minutes later, we heard a commotion. I went downstairs to investigate--all 3 doors and 6 windows were open. No one else was home at the time. It was the middle of the afternoon.
UPDATE: I just spoke to a very nice police woman, and as soon as I mentioned the window smasherβs name, she immediately knew who I was talking about. Apparently Smashy McWindows makes a habit of making big scenes in public and has called the police/had the police called on her many times in the last few months. This is the first time the officer was aware of her doing any serious damage during an outburst.
She said I could press charges against Smashy for vandalism and breaking and entering into a vehicle. Apparently, it doesnβt matter what her intentions were if she was preparing to break into my car, itβs still a misdemeanor she can be charged with.
Also, when I mentioned leaving the car idling, she laughed at me for even worrying about it. I guess itβs not something they enforce on the regular.
Thank you for all the great advice and especially thank you to you guys who encouraged me to go to the police. I feel a thousand times better about the whole situation now that I know sheβs just genuinely crazy and looking for attention. Well, sheβs got it now!

This was about a week or so ago, right when it started getting really hot. I went into a craft store to pick up some clearance stuff I missed the day before, right next to the register and I could not have been away from my car more than 10 minutes. I left my dog with the car on and unlocked, ac on full blast, and water on the floor. Didnβt leave a note but I didnβt think I would have to since I left my car ON. Not just the battery, the engine was ON and it was blowing cold air. I wasnβt worried about anyone stealing him or the car because I know the area really well, besides my dog is quite intimidating and I was only gone a couple minutes.
I walk outside and hear this young girl (early 20s?) saying βitβs too hot!! Itβs dangerous!β to another older lady. And notice sheβs talking about my dog, who is sitting in the front seat of my car barking like crazy. Heβs clearly upset, scared and the back passenger window of my car is cracked. I realized this girl was in hysterics because she couldnβt break my window and free my (TOTALLY FINE) dog. I think I got outside just before she called the police. I confronted her about it and she went nuts on me about leaving my dog in the heat. Didnβt apologize or anything just lectured about the heat. I tried to explain that he was comfortable but she wasnβt having it, she said it was her responsibility to save him (I get it but try the door handle first next
... keep reading on reddit β‘I don't know why I just thought of this but the KH I attended would lock the doors during the meetings. If you had to step outside, you would have to knock on the door to be let back in. I didn't think anything of it at the time but now I find it very creepy. Plus there were no windows on our KH. It feels very cultish and secretive to me now. Why do that? They told us they did it for security reasons but I call BS. I was raised Catholic until age 16 and our church never did that. The door was always open for any worshipper to come in, no matter the time. I don't think this is regular practice in most religions. How can a "religion" pride itself on going door-to-door in the community inviting people to the KH then lock the doors during the meetings?
I'm surprised you don't have to know a secret password to enter.
If I was from the public, I would wonder what they are hiding. Doesn't this raise red flags? At the very least, it certainly isn't welcoming. It's secretive, controlling and cultish. Forbidding. It seems less for security reasons than just trying to regulate and control who comes in. It also feels nervy ... as they go to people's doors and personally invite them to the meeting. (sorry neighbor that I invited to the meeting, you are a few minutes late. Locked out. We have no windows and we have security at the door so you cannot observe what is going on inside, either.) Why would you lock the doors during services???? Especially when you knock on people's doors and invite them to come!
I don't know what made me think of this but it raises red flags. It's like a secret society. We're in here and you're locked out. Crazy :/
