A list of puns related to "Dissymmetry of lift"
Serious question. Have they not weighed these two costs? Surely building and staffing 200 ICU beds would cost far less than paying unemployment insurance for literally millions of people, no?
Edit: And I'd like to add, I am not suggesting we add 200 beds and call it a day. Why not investigate precisely how many beds we may need, given the susceptibility of the population in any given covid wave, and do that. It could not possibly cost more than the current cost on our society.
I take multiple steps to avoid them
Context for those who don't know about the Dinnie Stones: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinnie_Stones
From the official website, "You should give at least one month's notice and provide evidence of lifting 300kg or more on any kind of lift"
The good news is that this is a long term goal and I don't really have a timeline that I am glued to.
My stats currently are:
M/31/6'3"/265lb
Best deadlift to date has been 405 x 5, haven't gone for 1RM in years because I have no reason to.
What is the best program to help increase my overall DL numbers? Currently I am doing a dedicated leg day twice per week that includes DL, usually 3 sets at 5 reps (not including warm up). Should I just work on normal form/grip? Sumo tend to aggravate my surgically repaired knee if I do them too often. The stones have these odd rings that you have hold and kind of straddle grip them. Let me know what you all think, and thanks in advance to a great community.
"I'm on antidepressants."
He's going in for surgery at 3:30pm Pacific. All your positive thoughts and prayers are appreciated.
Edit: Thank you all for the kind words and omg for the gold! He's out of surgery and looks to be recovering nicely. All your well wishes helped cheer him and his parents up.
They "half" succeeded, as more decayed mouths were violently pulling him below than hands pulling him above.
This is all over IG right now so I thought it'd be a good topic for a longer form discussion. What's your personal highlight lift of the year? (Pls don't be like "my gf's deadlift!!" or "my athlete's win!!" Those are great, but we're talking about YOU here.) Why was it special--was it a PR? Was there something else going on in your life that made it extra sweet? What was the lift that made you say to yourself "this is why I do this"? I saw Daniel Tinajero show the first low bodyweight box squat he did post injury as his favorite lift of the year, so if you made it back from injury and that was your moment, let's see it!
For example: squatting 400 was a lifetime goal for me and after a pretty taxing year, I finally got to do in November on the platform on my way to taking best lifter at a meet for the first time in my life. I dreamed about that lift for MONTHS. I doubted I could do it for months. I questioned my strength, I questioned my dedication, I questioned my mental toughness. I did that in virtually every area of my life this year facing down some huge career hurdles (that I cleared), some relationship hurdles (that I cleared), and some serious personal growth I had to work for. That lift was my white whale. And it felt easy.
So let's celebrate your greatest hit.
ETA I wanted to respond to everyone and I'm already behind. This is awesome. Keep it coming y'all.
So if I am squatting, would it be a bad idea to stretch hamstrings and calfs in between sets? Some people hate static stretching but I find that it releases a lot of tension and makes me a lot more comfortable. Between sets, I think it can increase my ROM and give me better form. Thoughts?
