A list of puns related to "Demographics of Singapore"
I am a local of Singapore and have attended the Singapore GP 4 times in a row consecutively. This year might be the last year I am attending the Singapore GP, even though I love the racing.
I tracked my overall expenditure, and noticed that for each of the 4 grand prix I attended, I usually spend around one-sixth to one-seventh, or around 14%-17% of my monthly take-home income. This is the total sum of overall expenses including the price of the cheapest 3-day grandstand tickets (I always buy the cheapest tickets in Zone 4), all of the over-priced beer and food, as well as my taxi fare back home.
I don't have any local friends whom attend for the racing, as they find grandstand ticket prices too high. What I do have are friends whom buy Single-day walkabout tickets - but only to attend the concerts and entertainment line-ups (e.g. Gwen Stefani, One Republic, Calvin Harris etc).
Generally speaking, I have not considered attending a grand prix in another country because after taking into consideration air fares and hotel accommodation, I felt it is too much of a hit to the wallet, though I may consider the Vietnam Grand Prix.
Generally speaking, Zone 1 tickets at the Singapore GP are around 60%-70% up to around the same as my entire month's take-home pay, so I am guessing the the very well-off, like bankers, business owners are there. I estimated that there are maybe a total of 20,000 people in Zone 1, whom spent a total of SGD$10,000++ per person (including hotel and air fares) on their overseas trip to the Singapore GP?
I think most attendees are either from the UK or Australia, with small isolated groups here and there from Japan, the Netherlands, Germany and Italy.
I am curious, as somewhat of a self-taught economist whom likes to look into consumer spending, for those of you whom flew into Singapore for the Singapore GP, what was your overall expenditure, including grandstand ticket prices, food and drinks, hotels and Air fares?
How much of a percentage of your monthly income did it take up? Do you go to a GP every year and more than 1 GP per year? Or is it more of a once-in-a-lifetime spurge kind of event. What is your profession in?
Southern lurker here. I might be wrong, but it seems posts on the NI subreddit tend to favour (heavily) one political side over the other. Any particular reason for this?
Not asking what your affiliation is, just why one side seems less well represented.
the victim blaming is astounding
In my opinion, Stadia was never intended to compete for the hardcore market share. It was never going to convert gamers who have the latest console or a good gaming PC and already own the latest games. Instead, it's trying to capture a corner of the market that no one else is courting: former gamers (or people interested in a premium gaming experience) that no longer have the time, money, or inclination to keep buying the latest console or continuing to upgrade their gaming PC.
I fall into that category. At one point, when I was single, I wouldn't hesitate to drop $1500 a year to upgrade my PC. I would regularly buy 3-4 games a month, and I could game 20 hours a week or more. Fast forward to today, and I'm a father with a demanding career. I'll be lucky if I can squeeze in an hour of gaming a day. And yet I still love gaming, and I'm not casual enough to be satisfied with mobile games. So when I saw what Stadia was offering, I jumped at the chance to try it.
So far, my experience with it has been excellent. The technology works great, there is no perceptible latency or lag, and being able to game while laying in bed next to my wife, or sitting on the toilet, is awesome. The cost per month is less than what I pay for Netflix, and for that I get 2 free games a month, playing at 1080p/60fps or greater, with console quality graphics or better, that I can play on basically all the devices that I already own. And I essentially won't ever have to buy a new console or computer ever again. To me that's a pretty great deal, and one that only improves in value over time. I'm very happy with what I get for the price that I pay. I understand that there are people out there who desire more than that, or who may have already spent money on hardware and games that offer a similar or better experience than Stadia offers, but for people like me (and at least 3 of my friends, all of whom have ordered the Premiere Edition), this is an incredible product that fulfills a need in a way that no other platform can.
I think once the platform matures and word of mouth spreads, Google is going to surprise a lot of people by just how many "casuals" like me it can pull out of the woodwork. It's not going to win over hardcore gamers, but it doesn't have to to be a success.
Weβve had few polls on demographics but itβs interesting to see the age breakdown of the redditors. Speaks of the generational issues they are facing.
Hello, UI/UX Design student here, we're currently creating a roguelite game! To better understand the audience for these games in terms of age and gender I'd like to gather some data from Reddit and other similar forums where people talk about the roguelite genre or popular titles in the genre. Thank you in advance for filling it in! :)
I am an avid follower of sports and I searched for NFL news today. The only headline I see across every news source is about the first black female referee being hired in the NFL. There have been black referees and there have been female referees. But they make a huge deal out of the first black female referee. As a society how are we supposed to move past prejudices if the media constantly talks about these things? I am all for diversity and I think it makes us stronger. But this should not be news. Race is a social construct and our DNA as humans does not differ depending on what part of the planet our ancestors are from. We need to stop constantly talking about different demographics in this way or the rift between people who are different will never go away.
TL;DR - When we stop talking about race it will cease to exist
UPDATE: Survey results are out! You can read them here: https://imgur.com/a/X6iR4WE
Hi! I like to create surveys in my spare time and turn them into cool info graphics such as the Fire Emblem survey I did a while ago.
This time I wanted to approach the League player base and ask them a lot of questions to get to know the demographics. Questions pertaining to how long you've played league, which is your favourite role, how easily do you tilt, do you play ranked etc.
The results will be posted maybe a month later, it depends on how long it takes for me to create the info graphic. I'm aiming to group the results so that I can create a profile for each role and how they usually act etc.
The survey will take around 10-15 minutes to complete. Thank you so much!
Where unironically
>Because white people know how to build civilization. Because of that, when we need it, we build it instead of finding a host race to parasitize for gibs because we don't know how to build civilization. Not that any demographic is prone to gibs mongering or anything.
More comments:
> Truth told our white privilege didn't mean much to LΜΆiΜΆtΜΆeΜΆrΜΆaΜΆlΜΆ Figurative Hitler & the Nazi supermanacists.
>Nazi propaganda minister Joesph Goebbels and the editor of the NSDAP agitprop Der Sturmer Julius Streicher, among others, went to jail for hate speech. They used their prison sentences as a recruitment tool by citing it as evidence of the Jewish conspiracy. I'm sure it will work this time though, not true human rights laws or something.
Nazis=victims:
> I laugh when people say we need hate speech laws to stop the next hitler, because they worked so well the first time!
Same post argues the Nazis were progressives:
>You don't agree with any of Bernie's policies like hating the free market and greedy CEOs, socialized healthcare, UBI, raising the minimum wage, stronger unions and workers' rights, stopping corporations from ruining the enviornment, or would consider seizing the means of production? Those are all positions held by people like Richard Spencer and the Facebook shooter, so you are terrible at this fascist thing.
You can PM me on here any time. If you donβt have anyone to help you with things and youβre scared because of the virus, I will help you as much as I can with groceries, prescriptions pick up, anything really for you that I am capable of doing.
The NHL has all games stored on film which is of the highest quality but presents clear bandwidth problems as the files would be huge if released as raw data, but what is stopping them from releasing 720-1080p versions of games? The lack of clear footage is preventing younger demographics from being invested in the NHL.
Content creators are so important for growing the games for a younger audience, take for example ovi's incredible 65 goal season, someone went out of their way to make this amazing video but the footage is of such horrid quality that young viewers today will not even bother to watch. This didn't even happen that long ago it's Ovi like what?
Some of us were not fortunate enough to witness The Great One, Lemieux, Bobby Orr, the list goes on...
I'm not here to waste everyone's time and write a billion words, I probably could have gone more in depth but the point is made and I don't feel like going full try hard, the point is the NHL has nothing to lose with doing this and I don't understand why it has not been done yet.
Edit: Made the formatting look nicer.
Seems to me that the average person here is about 18-30, middle class, liberal. Do you think that the lower class or older people are represented enough in this sub? Would you say the opinions here differ a lot from the average person in your country. Just the fact that everyone here speaks English sort of reinforces that speculation
As of 11:42 EST I'll no longer be accepting new responses. Thank you to the 1,165 of you who did respond. Data coming soon!!!
Edit: I'm not the type to beg for upvotes but it'd be awesome if those of you who take this upvote it for visibility, I want a lot of people to see it. Also let me know if there's anything that needs to be changed about the questions. Thanks for taking it!
Here's the link - please only take this if you're a current high school senior (or equivalent in your nation's education system)
I made this survey to kill time and procrastinate doing AP Lit work. It's not for a class or anything but it'd be cool if you took it, I love statistics and stuff like that so I was curious. Not sure if this is allowed or if someone's done this recently, but it has 4 sections:
Basic demographics (gender, ethnicity, location)
Your type of high school, your academic achievement, etc
What schools you're applying to
How stressed you are about the process and how much you've gotten done already
It should take 5 minutes or less.
I'm planning on posting similar surveys every couple months or so (at least the last two sections) to see how people's choices and position in the process change over time. Then I'll do one at the end of the year to see where you actually ended up.
Thanks guys!
Edit: Added the questions asking whether your school offers APs, whether it offers the IB, and IB score. Also made it so you can go back and change your answers if anyone wants to
Okay Infinity Ward. So if you really donβt want to divert even 1% from your βvisionβ for the game, can you not at least make one playlist for the more competitive players to play?
I want footstep volume to be very quiet. Some weapons to be nerfed. The original minimap with red dots to return. Ghost perk to only be active if moving. Mounting removed/nerfed, etc. Many tweaks to make the game feel more traditional and competitive. Iβm not the only one that wants these changes. But letβs just say the majority of casual players donβt care or want these changes.
Can you not at least follow the wisdom of your coworkers Treyarch and offer a ranked playlist for us competitive folk with all the changes we desire? Then you can effectively hit two birds with one stone and satisfy both demographics. Player frustrations solved. Casuals can keep playing the same game and competitive players can play what they expected the game to be. Win win situation and I would actually think about buying the Battle Pass if I had something fun to play outside of Shoot House 24/7.
Inb4 βseparating the communityβ thereβs a plethora of game modes and playlists as it is. Plus the competitive demographic apparently is a very small one compared to the large amount of casual players. So us playing our own playlist wouldnβt affect the casuals experience. If anything they will have more fun not worrying about sweaty rushers. Black Ops games never had any problems catering to both groups of people.
1%: actually children that the game was made for
99%: depressed, lonely, and emotionally disturbed young adults desperately trying to hold on to their childhood magic
