Hey, just watched your new video. I was thinking about to suggest Greenbots story here. Now watching ur video about Greenboots, I remembered another story that happend just next to greenboots. It’s about David Sharp, an English mountaineer who was on his way down from the summit of Everest, when he decided to take a rest or seek shelter in greenboots cave. He was climbing alone so nobody knows exactly what happend that night. On the next morning he was still sitting next to greenboots, when manny Groups of climbers on their way up were passing him by. Some just must have thought that he is already dead and others said that they just didn’t see him sitting there. The last push to the summit starts usually at 1 am so it’s pitch black up there. Anyways he was still alive. And one group recognized it. But they decided to move on. About 8 hours later on their way down they passed him by again, now willing and trying to help him. But although Sharp was still alive, at this point it was to late and they decided that they couldn’t bring him down alive. So they left him there. There is a documentary about Sharp where the group members wich found out that he’s still alive are interviewed. The night that Sharp spend up there was considered as one of the coldest nights at Everest this season. Sharps death is even more tragic when considering that a few days after, an Australien mountaineer named Lincoln Hall did survive a night alone at Everest without his gear (the Sherpas took his gear thinking there is no way that he can survive a night up there) in the same area and was able to make his way down on the next day. Both stories are worth to take a look at. Sharps story is quite tragic and heavily controversial, Halls story is an amazing surviving story... Cheers

David Sharp (Sharpwerks) One of the most amazing and perfect customs I've ever had, table price of $1,000.0 and good luck finding another. This hurts, factory edge, it's been carried a little and only the clip and micarta shows a little wear but nothing a spa day couldn't remedy $600.00. Sold

So far, all the dead mountaineers (the ones I've heard of, anyways) died by natural causes, but I have to wonder, have any of them been killed; not by nature, but by man itself?
14 peaks mountaineer gesman told me that alpine style is not possible in Nepal. i’ve been interested in the idea of climbing peaks and navigating the mountains independently with a small group.
i’ve only trekked to less technical peaks. what would you recommend to someone interested in this style of climbing? starting from gear to the type pf training and know how. apologies if this is a dumb question but i think alpine style can be amazing in nepal, especially in lower himalayan peaks but there doesn’t seem to be a culture.

Hey all, I know it's a pretty niche community, but it has always been notoriously hard to find vegan-friendly and high-quality mountaineering or winter hiking boots.
I'm real passionate about ethical adventures and spend a lot of time contacting outdoor brands to see which products are completely cruelty-free e.g. no leather, glue, dyes etc.
So, I thought I'd share all the available options here, for any fellow mountain-loving herbivores. For all of these options, be sure to search for the exact shoe as many have leather alternatives. It's all clearly labelled but it's just something to keep in mind.

These guys are really ace on many levels. They operate very sustainably and all of their non-leather boots are completely free of animal products.

Let me preface by saying that I dislike running. I run because I want to be in shape, but I don’t like it. I run about 10-15 miles per week, but don’t want to increase it. I felt that stair climbers with a weighted backpack helped immensely more than running for climbing mountains. I’ve also seen people who don’t even look like they are in great shape climb the bigger mountains.
Obviously running doesn’t hurt, but is it necessary?
