When dna gets passed on from parent to child do the genes stay in tact during recombination meaning the child will get the full gene just as the grandfather or grandmother had it or does the gene itself get shuffled and something new is created?

In other words are the genes like cards in a deck, they dont change they just get shuffled or are genes more like the deck itself and also get shuffled.

December 2021 Marks Six Years Since Netflix Debuted The Award Winning Documentary Making a Murderer And Millions Learned About Steven Avery, Brendan Dassey, Teres Halbach and Manitowoc County, Wisconsin.

https://preview.redd.it/k7mzgartik881.jpg?width=271&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f34b2882e61a4726fd7268c8448b05e8a12acab

Reflecting back at what has been found since the debut of Making a Murderer I want to ask the reader this:

If someone was telling you about an event that occurred yet they are lying to you about where it happened, what they did while they were there, why they did those things and most importantly who they were doing it for would you believe anything they said about the event at all?

Taking a look at the disappearance of Teresa Halbach and some of the events in the investigation and trial process that resulted in the controversial murder convictions of Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey reveals that the State of Wisconsin was at minimum deceptive and dishonest about everything that investigators found and did in the Teresa Halbach investigation and also in what was presented to the media, public and jury in 2005-2007. This deception has continued on in the post conviction.

As of today Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey remain imprisoned at separate correctional institutions in the state of Wisconsin. Brendan Dassey’s case has-as a result of the documentary ignited a long overdue discussion and more importantly the beginning of reforms in how juveniles are questioned and interrogated. Three states have enacted legislation regarding the interviewing and interrogations of juveniles. No matter what your belief in Brendan Dassey’s innocence or guilt I think everyone who watched the multiple interrogations conducted by Calumet County Investigator Mark Wiegert and Wisconsin DCI S/A Tom Fassbender agree that the officers at minimum lied to and manipulated Brendan to make statements that not only went against his best interest they were also total fabrications that evidence shows did not. happen

Jerome Buting and Dean Strang-the two highly regarded Wisconsin attorneys who represented Steven Avery at trial have both admitted that they were ineffective in his defense. Its undeniable that they were completely ineffective - if they had been effective defense attorneys for Steven he would not have been convicted of Teresa Halbach’s murder.

There are several key pieces of evidence that Buting and Strang either missed or more troubling were deceived by prosecutors about and also several pieces of evidence that post conviction testing by and additional investigation paid for by Steven Avery’s post conviction attorney Ka

Once a day by touching something you can mark it. This mark does nothing and is only visible by you.

Answers to some regularly asked questions:

  1. Because most people interpreted it likr that, the mark is permanent.

  2. Its a mark not a tracker. You cant see it through walls, neither can you use it to track keys, phone etc.

  3. You cant differenciate between different marked objekts neither can you choose the location of the mark. It isnt fixed to one place but changes, so that you can always see it, if you see the objekt.

Genius Apes

Three Body Problem reminds me of a thought experiment that drove me insane, that we're all living in this holofractal dome Universe, with pockets of consciousness everywhere, and masses of this consciousness animate Life through Light.

It had a model of a spherical Universe that made so much sense to me. I had thought of it independently, when thinking about the Dome, only instead of a hole that had fire shining through, the Sun was a lamp that shone in all directions and could appear anywhere at once.

All we ever see is sunlight. We can't even see the whole spectrum without augmentation. We know NOTHING of the Forces that Observe us, only such that they observe us.

What do we do if UFO's came after we nuked Japan? How does that change the historical record? What will they teach in schools?

We're living this life on the edge. The world could end at any moment. Civilizations have been wiped out in a flash before; a supervolcano here, a comet there. But I think we respawn. In Three Body, the humans can dehydrate themselves to survive longer periods of being in the wilderness. A similar principle applies with us: we have a gene pool, and every DNA strand computes to a non-fungible version of the sentient spawn.

I prefer writing for the front page of the Internet. I used to write for the high school newspaper. I am a genius writer. You're not allowed to call yourself a genius, because geniuses are arrogant and corrupt easily. But we're all a genius Ape, for learning language, for building society, for the fundamentals of civilization to evolve our consciousness collectively as a species.

I think I'm an Anarchist primarily because nations disgust me. Bands of thieves, warlords and mercenaries, all shuffling in the sand for oil and rocks. We need community, and structure, and the warlords and the thieves convince us with the mercenaries that it's their way or the highway.

Layers of Reality can be built on and within one another. That's what dreams are. We are exploring more complex versions of ourselves. We will live all of those lifetimes, because we are living them now in our main lifetime.

I like that we all have our own worldviews, and though we conflict because at the higher levels of Reality, paradoxes resolve themselves; we don't know what's going on. We make a model and present it to the world, and it follows Reality tunnels based on emotional polarization.

We may solve a problem and rewrite Reality. All of us, we have the technology just with

Interview of Vitality's CEO about ending the French team & signing Astralis trio

Fabien "Neo" Devide gave a 47 minute interview to French website 1pv after Vitality's win in IEM winter, and that interview was released yesterday on their YouTube channel. I don't know that there are any subtitles on the way, so I'll offer a translation here.

Notes:

  • This interview was aimed at a French audience and fanbase.
  • I did my best to be true to what was said in the interview, with the consequence that the style is quite oral and there will be French idioms. Sorry, I'm no pro.
  • The names of the paragraphs are those of the chapters in the youtube video.
  • If you see any grammatical mistakes, please do point them out, I'll try and fix them.

Winning IEM Winter

Neo: I'm glad for the guys that they can end their run with style, and very proud of them for remaining professionals until the end.

The Last Dance

Interviewer: Considering the recent performances of Vitality, are there any regrets about switching to an international team?

Neo: No regrets, what's done is done. I made hard choices, I'm extremely grateful to them, but we thought this was a good opportunity for us to lead into another cycle, Vitality needs to grow internationally, as a team and as a company. We want to be the #1 French brand internationally, so addressing a new public is also a factor. It also allows for a higher ceiling, on the long term, more opportunities to establish a Vitality era, win majors, etc.

The French Project

Considering the recent success of the French squad, would it not be faster to make one change in this line-up, or give them a little more time?

Probably, yes, if we wanted to win immediately, the international project was not the best idea. But in the long run, the talent pool is more important, we can create a mix of cultures which is a lot more common in other sports. I understand that it can seem harsh to cut the French squad loose now, but going international is something we've been talking about for a long time, we've been working for 6-months to really figure out what Vitality wanted to achieve as an org, not only in 2022 but also in the coming years. So when the opportunity arose to sign the Danes, we saw it as the best possible way to move forward in that direction.

Why this team will work

Why go with an international team, when we know that historically, they are yet to win a major?

Indeed, the track record of international teams in majors is not good, at least there

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

My tinnitus "recovery" story

I've been meaning to make this post for sometime but just never found the time to do it till now.

I don't want to get in to a long winded story so that I can I get to the recovery part as quick as I can.

I have had ringing in my ears for as long as I can remember, it never bothered me unless it was very quiet and I was trying to sleep ( a simple fan at night was all I needed to fix that) but even then it didn't cause me any distress.

About 3 years ago, after a really bad cold, I started noticing this high frequency static like ringing in my ears. It was higher pitch than normal but I just couldn't stop hearing it.

This caused me great distress. It was like from that moment on, I could hear it no matter what, and I couldn't stop focusing on it.

I wish that part was the worst of it but it started to progress severely. Eventually I developed this whistle in my ear that sounded like a chirping of some sort. It was like my ear because ultra sensitive to certain frequencies and it would distort. I could hear it in almost every single sound. It eventually progressed in to the sound of crickets in my ears and overall loud white noise. I event had multiple different tones going on at the same time.

Worst of all, it got louder whenever I would try to drown it out (reactive tinnitus). It was like the sound would go above everything I would use to hide it. My ears began to develop a sensitivity to where I had to be careful with loud noise or it would cause my ear drum to shake.

I really thought I wasn't going to make it. I couldn't sleep and all I could think about was the thought of what if I couldn't handle it and eventually take my own life.

I really thought my life was over.

I still remember the night where I tied some article of clothing around my neck to prepare myself for what may be my only escape from the noise but fortunately, I didn't give up.

After suffering for 3 years, this is how I recovered.

It is my strong personal opinion that 99.9% of tinnitus suffering is not from tinnitus itself but from our feelings about tinnitus.

I know this might make some of you angry, and understandably so. I too was bothered when I first heard Julian Cowan Hill say this (check out his youtube channel).

I thought there is no way this horrible noise isn't the mastermind behind my suffering.

It is only now that I understand.

You see, my tinnitus hasn't gone away and honestly, I don't care. It doesn't impress me any more. It’s

There's a house on the hill, rotten and broken, that once belonged to a cannibal. I wish I'd never stepped foot inside.

The House loomed above us. It sat as a broken, teetering tribute to the dead, perched atop Cackle Hill like a crown of rotting lumber. It was the most famous thing in our town. The thing everybody knew, everybody talked about, but nobody dared disturb.

We were warned again and again to steer clear of the House, to avoid even so much as looking at it when we walked by for fear that we’d see the man in the window. Him, with his tiny eyes and snaggle-toothed smile. Him, with his violent delights. But of course, such superstitions are lost on children.

We braved the House on Halloween night. There were three of us then, twelve years old and small enough to navigate the maze of bramble that encircled the hill, deft enough to avoid the sharp thorns that pressed in upon the House like a barbed wire fence.

The property was old. Shambling. It once belonged to a wealthy man named Erich Cackle, an aristocrat who owned most of the real estate in town. The story goes that Cackle was a charming man with a taste for delicacies. He enjoyed fine foods from all across the world, whether that be escargot or snake wine. He loved to try things. Eat things.

At one point, he decided to try human flesh. And at one point, he decided that he liked it.

It’s estimated that over a hundred different corpses litter Cackle Hill, their bones scattered amongst the bramble. These days it’s officially recognized as a burial ground. A final resting place for a legion of people with no name and no history, no record of their existence besides the occasional femur rising from the dirt.

Twenty-two years ago though, the legend spun into overdrive. On Halloween night 1989, four children crawled through the thickets of thorns and made it into Cackle House. All four were massacred. They're still finding pieces of them today.

Ever since, it’s been closed off. Out of bounds. The authorities said it was out of respect to the children, to the dozens of graves that covered the property.

But the locals knew better.

They knew that Erich Cackle had never been tried for his crimes. They knew that he lived a full life, one with blood on his hands, hair in his teeth, and flesh in his belly. They knew that despite being dead for over a hundred years, Cackle still lived in that house. He still watched them from atop the hill.

Or at least, that's what you hear on the playground. Around campfires. It's what your older brother would taunt you with before turning off the lights for bed.

60 Upcoming Local Multiplayer Games

#Introduction

With so many games releasing nowadays, I think it's easy for the good ones to get lost in the shuffle. I'm going to list 60 upcoming local multiplayer games releasing in the future. This is just a tiny fraction of what’s on the horizon, as Steam alone received 10,263 games in 2020. I’m going to order the games by release date. If the game does not have a tangible release date, I’ll place it in the list based on what I think is more likely to come out first, based on marketing material and communication from the developers.

Note that the platforms listed are just what’s confirmed, and a platform not being listed doesn’t necessarily mean a game won’t come to said platform. Sometimes it is difficult to find information on what platforms a game will be on, and sometimes the developer doesn’t even know until later down the line. In a lot of cases, indie games will release on Steam first and then come to consoles later. For example, Trash Sailors released on Steam yesterday, but it won’t be on Switch until February 17, 2022.

#Games Omitted from the List

O-1. Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope [NOT CONFIRMED]

  • Picture: Link

  • Trailer: Link

  • eShop Page: Link

  • Release Date: 2022

  • Platforms: NS

  • Genre: Party Game

  • Multiplayer: TBD

  • Description: The original Mario + Rabbids had a separate local co-op mode – meaning the main campaign was single player, but there were separate levels designed for co-op. It is unknown if it will be returning with this new entry, but the fact that the eShop page didn’t just default to 1 player makes me think it will.

O-2. Redout 2 [NOT CONFIRMED]

  • Picture: Link

  • Trailer: Link

  • Steam Page: Link

  • Release Date: 2022

  • Platforms: PC/PS4/XBO/NS

  • Genre: Racing Game

  • Multiplayer: 12 Player Online PvP - Local PvP is TBD

  • Description: Redout draws inspiration from racing games like F-Zero and Wipeout. The first game released in 2016 and received an 81% critic rating and a 76% user rating for the PS4 version of the game, which also featured two player split-screen support. It’s worth noting that

A Profound Discovery - an unsettling standalone short story

"What the hell were you thinking, Zanra?"

"I don't know, Damir. Maybe I was thinking that we're on a mission of discovery and personal injury is an acceptable risk."

"Of course, If it gains us knowledge." Damir stomped toward her as he spoke, each of his four foot pads emphasizing one syllable. Yet when it came time to touch Zanra's wound, his fingers became like feathers. She recoiled even from this and sent him storming around the medical bay, eventually tossing a tray of sterile instruments to the floor.

"Enough!," said a third voice.

Damir stopped his tantrum long enough to address the newcomer. "Stay out of this, Petra."

Petra picked up a fallen scalpel and examined its blade. "If only the blade of reason, could cut through this prideful lesion."

"We're not in the mood for poetry," said Damir.

Petra handed the scalpel to Zanra. "If he tries to touch you again."

"You should see how we touch when you're not looking," said Damir softly.

"What was that, little man?," said Petra.

"I said that I was trying to comfort Zanra. You'd know that if you ever bothered to ask."

Petra dismissed him with a click of her eye stalks but nodded for Zanra to explain.

Zanra hoisted herself onto the examination table and lifted her right rear leg. There, on the abdominal part of her jumpsuit, was a large blood stain.

"My god," said Petra.

"I told you!," said Damir.

Thanks to the sexual dimorphism of their species, Petra was twice Damir's weight and a meter taller. "Crawl back to your quarters," she said while towering over him.

Damir locked eyes with her, but his 150 centimeter height and 80 kilograms had no effect. After a few embarrassing seconds, he conceded to his diminutive status and left the medical bay.

In the male's absence Petra more closely examined Zanra. Off came the stained jumpsuit to expose the naked wound. "It's deep," said Petra. "I'm surprised that you aren't in terrible pain."

"The whole area feels numb, like when you get a local anesthetic."

"Cuts don't normally come with painkillers. What caused it?"

"I was in a chamber just off the main corridor connecting the eastern and western halls. In the middle of the chamber, surrounded by stone tables, was a black obelisk with six arms hanging radially and a crystalline orb on top. The orb was covered in symbols that reminded me of buttons. Thinking it was a control panel, I reached up and pressed a symbol. One of the arms sprang to life andβ€”"

The Need For A Family Is A Mental Illness

Apologies for the baity-sounding title. But it's something I feel the need to talk about and it's one of those things that is kinda taboo.

I personally am childfree and embraced being anti-natalist. I don't hate kids. I don't mind being around them. Screaming kids suck but that's a universal. But I do wish the human race would stop procreating for at least five to ten years and devote its time to self-care, earth-care, and just straight up unfucking itself. I feel comfortable talking here about this because I feel you guys understand.

I don't hate families in general. I don't hate the logic. I love my parents and siblings and nieces and nephews. I love my friends. I get "you choose your family." I love that. But I despise mainstream family dynamics and procreation with a passion by the very definition of passion. To quote Mark Z. Danielewski:

"Passion has little to with with euphoria and everything to do with patience. It is not about feeling good. It is about endurance. Like patience, passion comes from the same Latin root: pati. It does not mean to flow with exuberance. It means to suffer."

With this being said, I hate family dynamics and breeding with a passion.

Let me run a scenario by you.

I was picking up snacks at my local gas station a while back before the holiday season. I was grabbing some beers at the far end of the store when a loud family came roaring in. There was a man in his 40s hobbling around like he was under the influence of something. And then a gaggle of about five teenage girls came in being loud. There is a high school near this gas station and apparently they were having some kind of football game. Point being, these loud teenagers are running amok in the store grabbing food and drinks. One teenage girl (they all looked to be approx 17-18 yrs) starting throwing a tantrum because the hot food in the store was closed for the day (the store is not 24 hrs). And this bitch was not having it. She ran her mouth loudly for five minutes straight over not getting a slice of pizza. She was getting loud over something she could get if she traveled a mile down the road. But no. She wanted pizza now. I look over at the clerk behind the counter that stood stoically with arms on the counter and her face masked so she would never have to smile at people like this. The silent rage was building in her. But she held strong. I am still watching all this from the beer section. The girl is still mad over pizza. Even her sisters are telling her t

Demons Don’t Lie - Chapter 8 - Strange bed-demons

First | Previous | Next

Night. Finally, a chance to rest. I’d spent a whole day walking and a whole day fighting. I was done. I laid down on a sheet of rusted corrugated steel and let out a long sigh, trying not to move too much to prevent my makeshift bedding from making an awful noise.

We’d found a safe spot within the ruins of a building. The whole thing must have been a factory at some point because we sat on a floor made of rusted corrugated iron that had creaked and crinkled as we’d tip-toed our way to the centre of the rubble. Surrounding it was equal parts steel, concrete, and grass that had shot up through the cracks. It seemed counterintuitive to rest in a noise place, but that noise worked both ways: we could hear any incoming digressers as they slithered across the steel, or demons for that matter.

It was getting hard to see by now. We weren’t going to light a fireβ€”no need, since demons didn’t actually feel heat or cold until it got to the point where their corporeal forms would be broken by itβ€”so I was a little chilly and struggling to see around me.

Toll had taken watch atop a fat column that jutted out of the ground. Their eyesight was keen and worked well enough at night. Add that to the fact that demons never slept nor rested and it was a natural choice to have them perched up on high, scanning the distant trees and ruined buildings.

Enzi and I, on the other hand, sat within a parapet formed by fallen steel and piled up concrete. I was able to make out Enzi’s bright red dress. The enepsi was sitting on her shins, uncomfortably close to me. As in, she was close enough that she could reach out and touch me. She drew a circlet from her inventory and placed it on her head, then turned to me and smiled.

β€œPlease, tell me what you think.”

She was still playing games, and I was too tired to play along. I had no choice, though: there were so many ways that an enepsi could hook their claws into you, and if I’d misspoken even once and asked a question, even a rhetorical one, I’d owe Toll another question.

Though Enzi had given me half a vial of Rise and Shine, which had reversed my body’s state to a moment a couple hours earlier, it had done n

God realization

β€œOne who knows God becomes equivalent to God”

My journey started unintentionally over two years ago. It started with meaning a broke college student turning towards an ascetic lifestyle trying to find happiness and contentment from within and not material bs. Through this process, I learned to make my own foods. Even making my own bread/pasta/other things/etc. I soon realized how I was royally being screwed financially by the market system we use. I then worked out how much it would cost me to build a rural offgrid hermit type of settlement. The realization of how little it would cost for me to live on my own led me into a psychosis. I nearly went 'insane' at the time, I had realized I had been indoctrinated into being a wage slave for society, and that the 'matrix' was indeed very real. 'I' had not attained god realization, but was well on the way towards it. At this point I had been in and out of psyche wards due to manic episodes after being diagnosed Bipolar 1. After this I suppose I was convinced to undergo electrocompulsive therapy while being medicated. Six months of my memory was fried away. Despite all of this, I still found myself relearning all which was lost and came to the same conclusion for a second time. The only reason I had any idea of the first realization after my second one was due to looking through screenshots on my phone from the past. Freedom is but an illusion to a vast majority on this planet. After this realization, I wanted to understand why I was here, and what the point of all this was. I wanted the Truth. I ended up dropping out of college and spending nearly every waking hour for the past 5 months on the spiritual journey(no work, savings), Jnana Yoga,Β  reading and listing to lectures for what is more than likely well over a thousand hours.

β€œGod became man that man might become God” - Athanasius

β€œMorpheus: The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work... when you go to church... when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. Neo: What truth? Morpheus: That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else you were born into bondage. Into a prison that you cannot taste or see or touch. A prison for your mind.”

β€œHave you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream

These aren't dad jokes...

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.

This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.

If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.

Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.

Before one becomes a dentist, or even enters dental school, a prospective dental student in the US must take what is called the Dental Admissions Test. This exam is an absolute beast of a hoop that one must successfully jump through if they wish keep their dental career dream alive. Many folks (including myself) take off several weeks to spend 6-8 hours a day cramming biology, chemistry, mathematics, and more into our brains in preparation for the great spewing. For a couple months or so, this pursuit essentially consumes your life as you cram, take practice exams, and cram some more as though you are trying to pour more knowledge fluid into an already overflowing brain bucket while patching up the leaky holes all over.

Oddly enough, there is one part of this exam that starts to feel like a game. It is a section known as the Perceptual Ability Test, or PAT for short. As the title describes, this section examines your ability to mentally visualize things such as 3D shapes, acute angles, and more. The reason this feels like a game is that rather than solve problems or recall memorized information, you are challenged to rank angles, match keyholes, visualize folds, count cube surfaces, and more. The reason for the PAT is because dentists are constantly using mirrors, x-rays, and models to visualize, shape, and diagnose teeth. Thus, the PAT material is not so much something you can learn or memorize to be prepared. Rather, it requires a spatially minded brain and a whole lot of practice to master the challenging types of questions you’ll encounter. In a sort of sick and twisted way, this PAT practice becomes the β€œfun” part of your studying routine, and a great way to break up the monotony of the science subjects. Over time, It’s quite satisfying to nail these questions with increasing competence.

[The PAT makes you

I did it, I finally did it. After 4 years and 92 days I went from being a father, to a dad.

This morning, my 4 year old daughter.

Daughter: I'm hungry

Me: nerves building, smile widening

Me: Hi hungry, I'm dad.

She had no idea what was going on but I finally did it.

Thank you all for listening.

Six Years Ago Netflix Debuted Making a Murderer-What Have We Learned Since Then?

https://preview.redd.it/afnaoz95ol881.jpg?width=271&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=81dd4ef0c2bb024d8cb4fdb91182704179f4e5fd

Reflecting back at what has been found since the debut of Making a Murderer I ask the reader this:

There are several key pieces of evidence that Buting and Strang either missed or more troubling were deceived by prosecutors about and also several pieces of ev
