DEC Alpha Puns

Hi! I saw on the Sandbox site that the alpha season ends on Dec 20 - does that mean I need to finish the quests before then in order to receive the rewards?

Also, any links to guides on the quests would be lovely :)

ACOG at Virtual Investor Conference

Edit: This DEC Alpha chip was one of the very last chips to be produced before Intel bought out the semiconductor facility in Hudson, MA. This chip never left the facility before the buy out in 1997.

Nice to hear the DEC Alpha mentioned in the week's show and interesting to hear Neil's memories of it.

We had DEC machines running Unix in our office when I did my PhD, at least one of which was an Alpha. This was my first experience of using Unix or Linux and I'm still a big fan of Linux today.

My main memories, though, were about the size of the hardware. These were big box machines with huge CRTs on top. The cooling fans churned out so much heat that this melted the little rubber feet on the neighbouring keyboard so that it was smeered into/stuck to the desk.

I also remember when someone plugged some equipment into the wall that tripped the lab's power cutoff. The noise of the fans running down and the silence that followed was deafening, which showed how much of the noise of the running fans was being ignored subconsciously.
