Maybe it's just me, but I feel like in western styles of cooking you are trying to brown your meat as much as possible to get the maillard reaction going and in many Asian dishes that I see tutorials for that is not done nearly as often. I watch some of these recipe videos and I can't help but wonder why one would not put some color on the meat before adding it to the dish.
I used to date a girl from Changsha. One night she was cooking dinner and I watched her boil cubes of beef, then strain out the liquid, then rinse the meat because she "didn't want it to taste too meaty". I'm an American and this seemed like sacrilege.
Another example would be one of my recent attempts at making a thai green curry, browning the chicken before it goes into the sauce is not one of the steps. While the sauce and vegetables in thai curry are typically delicious, the meat tends to taste like it's an addition for the sake of nutrition and texture as opposed to being there for flavor.
I'm not saying one style is better than the other, I'm mostly just curious as to why there is this a difference in trends and what are the pros and cons of not browning ones meat.
Americans (I'm too late for Canada, sorry!), while thinking about what to put on the Thanksgiving table, consider some of the plants and animals that have been all but erased from American culinary history. Even if you'd prefer to ignore the legend of wholesome Pilgrim and Indian cooperation, we can still maintain the best part of the Thanksgiving tradition--bringing your family or friends together through the celebration of indigenous foods.
After reading about kiviak (a real thing that exists in our world), I thought about how few truly local cuisines Iβve experienced in the boundless worlds Iβve visited in RPGs. So, hereβs a little (mostly silly) way to solve that.

Now as much as this was a shock for everyone including myself itβs time to indicate/distinguish actual Egyptian cuisine that we invented other than popular dishes that we took directly
Actual dishes are
1- full medames is ours 100% with itβs different recipes and it originated from us
2- koshari ( koshari is an egyptian dish which has a completely different indian version called khichidi in india )but both are extremely different
So koshari should be regarded an egyptian 100%
3- falafel , taameya ( itβs ours and we are the original ) other types of falafel were inspired by ours and thatβs a fact
4- duqqa (Ψ―ΩΨ©) dip is ours 100%
5-hummus (ΨΩ Ψ΅) is ours originally and it originated from egypt (not from the levant)
6-feteer meshalaltet is ours and itβs egyptian
7- /kosa bel bashamel is egyptian however macrona bel bachamel isnβt
8- bamya dish / stew Is an egyptian dish 100% however the origin of the vegetable itself itβs origins is disputed
9-molokhia is an egyptian dish
10- om ali is an egyptian dessert dish 100%
11- different types of bread (eish baladi , eish shamsi , eish feeno ( is the egyptian version of the french baguette) are egyptian

In the UK there are two types of Italian food generally, 10% of it is actual Italian food, at restaurants run by Italian immigrants, the most famous of these is probably Carluccio's, and a few supermarkets sell some quality Italian ingredients (Sainsbury and Waitrose only)
Then 90% of it is trash tier 'British Italian' food, like Carbonara with double cream and bacon, Ragu with bacon and no wine, cheddar cheese on everything, two or three times too much sauce, in most supermarkets in the UK Barilla is the best pasta and they sell some really low grade value pastas for Β£0.20p for 500g and people here cannot tell they are bad. Also the sauces in jars in the UK supermarkets are really bad too, all of them are basically just tomato, onion and garlic.
Italian food is probably the most fucked up in the UK, people here just cook it wrong
