Iโm trying to get a stand for the contra alto that Iโm temporarily playing. Is there anything that would work?
Does anyone here have experience in marching band with a Bb contrabass clarinet? It might be a possibility that I March one next year and want to know what to expect. (Also the contra at my school is a standard bass-style and not a paperclip contra.) Thanks!
So my school is doing a thing where we do section bands(clarinet group, etc...)and since we have 21 clarinets, they decided to hand out the lower clarinets. I'm a freshman so i thought they would keep me on regular clarinet, but they decided im a contra!
Are there any company's that make handmade contrabass clarinet reeds? Honestly Vandoren's are ok but I'm looking for better quality and I'm not even spending $43 on some crappy Ricos or legere.
To be honest, a contrabass clarinet looks pretty dope ngl and it sounds so, nice. Hopefully the high school has one though.
So I need some friends and I need to practice after a beer
my local musical pit orchestra is calling for an Eb contrabass and I donโt have a lot of money to spend on one and I have no idea where to even start looking for one. Iโm hoping to rent one but I donโt know how to go about it. Anyone have any advice for me?
What should I know? Also, if I use strength 4 soprano reeds, which contrabass reeds should I get? Iโm excited!
Iโm currently trying to learn the contrabass clarinet for my collegeโs wind ensemble and Iโm having some serious trouble getting it right. Many of the notes come out with a wildly out of tune โairyโ sound about 9 times out of ten. When I can get it sounding like I need it to I have trouble maintaining my air for more than a few seconds and I struggle to recreate the correct sounds after Iโve done it once. I just need some pointers and help getting this up to snuff and resolving these issues.
Does anyone know of any duets written or arranged for this duet? I know of the contrabass-Ab duet, but I imagine there must be some for contrabass-Eb
Iโm just curious
Hello all! Iโm a university clarinet performance major and as part of my major, I have to play in a large ensemble. I auditioned for and was placed in the wind ensemble as our contrabass expert (thereโs one per wind band) so I rotate onto and off of contrabass/contra-alto as needed. Any of yโall also play a contra clari? Itโs such a fun instrument.
I've noticed this a lot but didn't understand the extra B. BBโญ instruments are pitched in Bโญ like everyone else, does the extra B stand for 'Bass' or 'Below'? Is it because the fundamental is in the pedal range?
I play Contra-bass and Soprano Clarinet for my band but I want to stop leaving my Contra on the ground, it there one out there for purchase?
I already have a Soprano and Bass stand but I havent been able to find one for Contra
I acquired a Leblanc paperclip contrabass clarinet recently. That thing is a hoot. One problem, I can't find any reed cases. Since the reeds are $50 for a box of 5 I'd really like to put them in something better than the plastic sleeve they came in.
I can't find any cases at all! None! Do contrabass clarinet reed cases even exist? Any suggestions?
I'm currently in my highschool's top band, which is starting up next quarter. I'd like some more music to practice on at home, other than just my school pieces, mainly because i'm never playing any really interesting parts. Any music you find that has a good contrabass or bass clarinet part would interest me.
