A list of puns related to "Complement of HMS Bounty"
This ship appeared in Star Trek III & its sequel Star Trek IV. They completely redressed the bridge for the second movie which became the basis for all future Klingon bridge designs. It fascinated me when I first saw it. It still does. Got to love real models instead of CGI.

They key here is that Dr Gillian Taylor was taken to the 23rd century from 1986. She was a foremost cetologist, having the closest relationship with the only two humpbacks in captivity and had even begun breeding them there.
That Gracie was pregnant was an extremely closely-guarded secret - Taylor immediately starts interrogating Spock for the source of his knowledge of this as soon as he mentions it. It's possible the Sausalito Cetacean Institute beancounters didn't realize how much they could capitalize on this to provide George and Gracie with as much shrimp as they could ever want; but it's more likely that they didn't even know.
I posit that Dr Taylor had a plan to use the revelation of Gracie's pregnancy as a public cudgel to force the Sausalito Cetacean Institute to abandon releasing the pair, leveraging the international media attention surrounding their imminent departure as the maximum pain point for them. She is obliged to leave it to the very last minute due to the risks surrounding Gracie's pregnancy - a negative outcome could be kept quiet and so keep her hopes of a captive breeding program more sellable to other institutions, even if it would have to be restarted elsewhere (perhaps at the nearby Monterey Bay Aquarium with its surprisingly comparable facilities).
Dr Taylor was completely taken by surprise and made distraught by George and Gracie's sudden removal from the Institute; not only are her beloved whale friends gone but her plan is in tatters too (perhaps she hadn't credited the ability of a 747 to be adapted to carry 400 tonnes, Scotty's estimate of whales + water; 747 cargo versions today with a further 35 years of engine development can carry only 139 tonnes).
At this point she would have been wonderfully placed in the world of cetology to look after the next group of humpback whales in captivity and have her dream of a captive breeding program as insurance against their extinction in the wild. She would have been wonderfully placed to stir up a media firestorm over pregnant whales being sent to take their (low) chances with whalers solely due to lack of funding. She would have been able to secure such funding to restart her program and create intense international political pressure to protect humpbacks in the wild. While she's often sanguine with small audiences, her passion for whales would have been given a worldwide stage.
Instead of resolving to do t

Time Travel and travel between different dimensions/timelines/universes is odd.
When the Whale Probe arrived and started to wreak havoc on Earth, it caused Spock to suggest going back in time to fetch some humpback whales.
They do so.
Every other timeline that had a similar event at that point in time then had their own versions of the event happening.
However, since each HMS Bounty had a Spock, they all logically concluded that to avoid causing the inadvertent extinction of the whales in their own timeline, they should just take humpback whales from a different timeline or universe.
Since they all knew of one sort of index universe (The Prime Universe), every HMS Bounty across all timelines went back in time to take humpback whales from the Prime timeline/universe figuring their Kirk will probably figure out how to save their future anyway, they'll be fine, he seems to get all the attention they had Kirks too you know!
This of course led to the extinction of the humpback whales, as every single one was taken to various futures and timelines.
They also couldn't all get a Dr. Gillian Taylor, but that's okay, they couldn't get one from the Cetacean Institute anyway since they were gone.
They each got their plexiglas from different manufacturers, trading the secret of transparent aluminum to each one. This led to nobody knowing who the "inventor" of transparent aluminum was as there were so many.
TL;DR When the Whale Probe showed up across all timelines, every HMS Bounty decided to just take one from the Prime timeline's past, causing the extinction of the whales in the first place. But since there are infinite timelines, every other timeline had other timelines pillage their pasts for whales. The Whale Probe inadvertently caused the extinction it was investigating.

I've spent the past few weeks working on a full collection of the bounty skulls from Sea of Thieves and finally got them finished up and photographed. Here's a shot of all five of them in their glowey glory!
From left to right: Foul Skull, Disgraced Skull, Hateful Skull, Villainous Skull, and the Stronghold Skull.
These are not as elongated as the in-game version but were chosen because they fit nicely on the bed of my Monoprice Maker Select v2 from a model by garretsartsandwhatnots over on Thingiverse. I sealed the print with Smooth-On's XTC-3D, molded it in their Rebound 25, and rotocast them in SmoothCast 300. Each was finished according to source images and physical description and feature an LED light in the interior to provide the spooky glow. You can take a look at my process and close ups of each one over on Instagram @darthcleavage
I've just finished Peter Fitzsimons book on The Mutiny on The Bounty. I was curious about how much Christian's middle-class background lead to his actions in overthrowing Captain Bligh. No doubt Bligh was a terrible leader of men, cruel captain and awful person to work with. I suspect he would be diagnosed with a personality disorder today. He also was subject to other mutinies in his career, which speaks to the content of his character. Bligh was effectively torturing his men through starvation and brutal punishments, so there is really no mystery to Christian's motivations.
Nevertheless, Christian made a huge sacrifice in rebelling against Bligh, knowing he was committing to never see England or his family again, and condemning himself to death if the Admiralty ever caught him. So was there an element of "you can't treat me like this!" from Christian. Was Bligh's treatment really, literally intolerable as Christian claimed, or was Christian actually pushed that bit more over the edge (more than any other man on board) by the fact that he felt this treatment was below him/he was unused to being spoken to and treated in that way?
They ran out of paper towels.
Star Trek IV is one of my favorite movies ever with a beautiful humanistic message, so I wanted to capture my favorite moment from that movie with my first attempt at building a diorama. Included is a picture right before the Bird of Prey decloaks, and the novelization of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier for scale.

Cook Islands doesn't have a mint, they make money by allowing other mints to use their name on coins. I can't for the life of me figure out which mint makes these coins. I can find hundreds of websites that sell the coins, but which is the original source?
I mean, not having the Klingon trait based on a change of possession is just flat-out stupid.
Part of me is turned off, but another part of me is like, what if he doesnβt know better? Otherwise seems like a respectful gentleman. Give him a chance at a first date or red flag?
UPDATE: Decision made: Iβm going to pass on this guy. Iβm trying to be more open to American white men as dating prospects, and will continue to try, but no need to force it. Thanks for the feedback everyone.
They time traveled to 1986 and removed Dr Gillian Taylor from the 20th century and deposited her in the 23rd. A foremost cetologist of her time and an extremely passionate one, she headed the study of the only two humpbacks in captivity and had even overseen their successful breeding there.
Without her the captive humpback whale breeding program that would have saved the species never got started. With her combination of deep scientific knowledge and fiery passion out of the picture, nobody was there to see the international push to protect them in the wild to its conclusion.
If they had never gone back in time at all there never would have been a problem with the probe; instead they went back, doomed the species to extinction, and took Taylor to the Prime timeline's 23rd century. Because of this the Earth of the Kelvin timeline is doomed when 2286 rolls around since humpback whales are extinct and the only two ever to live in readily-locatable captivity have disappeared to the Prime 2286.
