Management doesn't want communication in writing after reasonable accommodation request

My management has made me completely miserable since around the time I did a reasonable accommodation request for partial telework.

As soon as I put out the ask it was like I had a target on my back. First I got told it shouldn't be a problem, then I found out private information about me was shared with other people at the management level. I asked for an explanation of why and was completely ignored. I submitted a complaint about it and only then did my supervisor give me an explanation, but he would only discuss it in person.

We had our interactive process meeting and my management was denying several things about past conversations. So I pulled out my saved emails and text messages to support my point. Two days later I was given a memo stating that I need to try discussing things with my supervisor in person, email and text is to be avoided. The memo was put in my OPF until the union called them for an explanation. Management claims it was a mistake...

I can't even share meeting notes. Last time I did that my supervisor came in and said I was trying to trap him. I am not even trying to trap him, I just don't want people denying things that they told me to my face. There were several other incidents that are complaint worthy but I don't want to post everything on here, I'm pretty sure my management is just looking for things to write me up for.

EEO says to wait until my telework is denied. Someone from risk management gave me workers comp forms for worsening my mental health disorder after I told her everything. Reasonable accommodation is telling me that my boss can set his own communication preferences and they don't see the issue, lawyer told me to just keep documenting as much as possible. I just want to be treated in an honest manner and not be treated like a criminal. Does anyone have any advice, besides transfer. I don't live in the Sacramento area so transferring isn't that easy. Plus I love my job.

University accommodation won’t give back deposit and is refusing communication

Hi so it’s not actually me in this position but rather my partner.

He is currently at Leeds Beckett university and last year stayed at a Unite Students (US) accommodation. He is now living in a shared house with his mates and it’s been, I think, nearly a month since he has tried to get his deposit back from US. I am now going to give you a rough timeline of what’s happened:

TIMELINE:

  • He first originally contacted them asking when he will be receiving his deposit back and the lady he spoke to said it should be in his account in 3-5 working days. It came to 5 days and the money was not there.
  • He then tried getting in touch with them and spoke to a different lady who was rude and told him that she couldn’t help him and it was actually 10 working days. He said okay and waited 10 working days. The money didn’t arrive.
  • After this he tried to get back in touch and spoke to a guy this time who told him that he’ll try and sort it out and that 5 working days was correct so to just hold on a little longer.
  • It has now been over an additional 5 days and the money still isn’t there. He has tried contacting them again and again but keeps getting cut off (the only way you can get in touch with these people is via webchat).

He has tried calling customer support and they tell him they can’t help and he needs to go on the webchat. He has spent nearly in total 6 hours waiting to get helped on webchat but every time he gets to being number one he gets disconnected.

I personally think they know they have fucked up and don’t want to do anything and so are hoping he will just give up.

What can we do to help get him his deposit back? They have all the correct information and have promised him he will be getting his deposit back.

Theory: Could highly intelligent marine mammals (i.e. Orcas) be in communication with whatever is hiding out in the depths of the worlds oceans?

NOTE: All Speculation. Marine mammals such as the Bottlenose Dolphins and Orcas (among others), are extraordinarily intelligent with brains much larger than humans. I will focus on Orcas for the sake of this post, since they are widely regarded as the most intelligent marine animal. We know they have extremely complex languages, with geographically distinct dialogues and possibly even different languages altogether. They engage in highly complex hunting methods, often unique to that specific pod. They train their young for years and years, indicating a deep emotional connection and desire to ensure their child’s survival.

All that being said, scientists are now starting to use AI to decode their language. They estimate that within as little as 5-10 years, we may have the ability to communicate with another species.

In my mind, if UAP’s/USO’s have been around for possibly thousands of years under our oceans, wouldn’t it stand to reason that they would be in communication with any intelligent undersea life?

I’ll include a link in the comments to a YouTube video on Orcas that prompted me to make this post.

? I (45f) need suggestions for work accommodations re: communication

Hey, I'm (46f) in the US. I'm getting people complaining to my boss that I'm interrupting, talking over people, oversharing, appearing inattentive. I thought i was a pretty careful communicator and am really upset that people thought i was being a dick when this is pretty much straight aspie stuff. Boss working with me at work on accommodations, but aren't helpful with WHAT I should ask them for. I have spent over 20 hours researching online, including talking to state disability centers, my therapist, a job coach... no one will just TELL me what to ask for. I think I'm at the point of panic and can't think clearly on what I should ask for, at this point. Does anyone have ideas? I will run them past my therapist, who is willing to write up/ approve whatever I feel i need.

A warning regarding 7:41 and GDA; there are bad actors out there unrelated to GME that will absolutely pander to Ape theories, and confirmation bias. We don't dance for ANYBODY except the direct unencrypted communication from Ryan Cohen.

I'm concerned about the speculation around 7:41. Sure this has lead to us learning about some interesting rules on the books re: liquidation, and we've found an interesting NFT company- that is now claiming that they aim to serve esports.

My point? This is all speculation and what-ifs based off a Twitter timestamp. NOTHING MORE.

But our long titties are completely jacked, and we are using them to probe EVERY rabbit hole without considering that sometimes predators use these burrows to ambush unsuspecting prey.

So if we follow our confirmation bias to a party that is completely unrelated to both GME or Citadel, that thinks they may be able to take advantage of our titties, why would you ever expect them to not release some unofficial, vague bullshit on Twitter that is designed to mislead apes into thinking they are going to merge and become GMEs NFT branch?

If Ryan Cohen has a company in mind let him say it. Clearly and out loud.

The only hype we have to spare is for GME and RC. There is zero room here for hyping ANY other companies without rock solid confirmation that there's something in the works.

Edit:

Questions that should be asked

How long has the GDA capital website been registered? And to whom?

When did the "Ape-friendly" statement about wealth transfer show up on their site?

When did they start pandering to Apes with pictures of the moon?

^ Were these before or after our "apes" found their website?

How long have they been in the business of facilitating Esports?

What do we know about Michael Gord and his connections?

To me without a ROCK-titty-jacking-solid unencrypted official announcement from RC about a real connection, this obvious pandering to Ape interests should be regarded with EXTREME SUSPICION.

In science we create a hypothesis and then we do our DAMNDEST to DISPROVE it. If it still floats after we've tried to poke a bunch of holes in it, only THEN do we start calling it a theory.

So let's use our jacked titties to poke some holes!

I suspect whatever the answers are to these questions, they will deserve their own post- I look forward to seeing what the community can find!

Is the "organizational communication theory and research" course related to technical communication? If so, how?

Here is the description about this course:

------

Explores the nature and function of communication in organizations; emphasis on theoretical concepts, tools, and skills for effective management of communication. My goal is to open your minds to the importance and centrality of the communicative processes within formal and informal organizations. We will explore numerous theories that help to explain the complex interactions that occur at numerous levels within modern organizations. In addition, each student will participate within a semester long β€œcommunication audit” of an organization to test the explanatory power of our theories in the working world.

Course Objectives

  • To understand the historical changes in organizational structure since the industrial revolution and the effects of these structural changes upon the communication processes within organizations.
  • To identify the practical implications of organizational communication theory within the everyday activities of the organization for both employees and management.
  • To highlight the importance of negotiated power, dialogue, and adaptive abilities within the organization.
  • To prepare students for success in the complex, global, and technologically sophisticated world of modern organizations.

--------

So how this course is related to technical communication? Have you used this organizational skill for your job? Can you elaborate?

I need three credits for rhetoric category under technical communication minor, so I searched rhetoric courses in the weekend, and I found this course that looked different than other courses. I think it's valuable for my organizational skills but I'm not sure.

PSA: Music theory YouTubers frequently get things wrong, or overcomplicate things. Don't get intimidated when they say something that doesn't make sense to you, it could be bad communication or they made a mistake

I don't want to point out anyone in particular, and I don't want to leave people with the impression that music theorists on YouTube are useless or not worth watching.

I'm just saying, watch these videos with the mindset that even experienced musicians forget things or make mistakes. A lot of very experienced, talented musicians are not regularly brushing up on their music theory. These videos can often be absolutely fantastic, just bear in mind if something confuses you, ask. This is a great sub for those kinds of questions.

Musicians can sometimes get comfortable with what they know, they develop their own way of explaining things, and that can confuse beginner or intermediate musicians.

I'm not going to go into detail, but some things that made me write this were "swing percentages" (just no. That's from an old synth setting), mixing up "modulation" vs "tonicisation" (modulation or "key changes" is more saying "ta-da! this is the new key," whereas tonicisation is a more fleeting shift of tonal centre), and a total inability to understand that the melody can sometimes be in the bass (a really frustrating video featuring three different, very well-known music theory YouTubers.)

Guys, if it sounds confusing or counter-intuitive, maybe it is just that complicated, but there's also a good chance they're explaining it badly or making a mistake.
