I accidentally bought the wrong shade of fabric to add sleeves to a dress. The chiffon ended up being much more red than my dress, and I'm wondering what ratios of dye you would recommend to get it to a true maroon. My camera isn't the best, this looks brighter than the colors actually are.

Alterations help! I am thinking of asking if adding a slit is possible (the fabric is chiffon) and have been toying with the idea of a gold beaded/pearl belt. Would you do either of these things? The dress has not been altered yet and is a little big on me. I just picked it up last Monday.

Tip - If you want to use a different type of fabric than what is recommended, keep in mind that it will probably change the drape, or appearance, of the garment. A skirt made of chiffon would hang (drape) very differently than one made of shantung.

Sewing in a bra to this dress possible? I was hoping to sew in a built in bra to this dress but my seamstress said she doesnβt recommend due to chiffon fabric and said you would be able to see the stitching. I feel like this should be possible. Thoughts?

What is Hi-multi chiffon fabric? How does it compare to other sheer fabrics?
Looking for a sheer, flowy fabric to make a dress with a lining, the only fabric terms/types I know that are sheer are chiffon and organza though I'm not completely sure how they differ. Search results turned up "hi-multi chiffon," how is it different from regular chiffon?
I want something with a light shimmer/shine that gathers well and would appreciate search terms or online shop recommendations. Thanks!

Will a single layer of off-white chiffon appear slightly transparent or cover the fabric beneath?
I'm using seafoam green matte satin for the dress im making and i was hoping to add a sheer overlay on top . I found the material I want (chiffon), but the colour is stumping me. Ive noticed that a lot of dresses with a chiffon overlay have the chiffon match the colour of the fabric beneath it, but i want my dress to have a little bit of depth. I was thinking that if I use white, it'll be somewhat transparent so as to not wash out the seafoam green - while still giving a subtle tint of white with movement... but since I can't see the fabrics together in real life (due to the stores closing again in Canada) I'm not sure if i'm right or not. i'd be disappointed if i ordered it only to find out it just makes the seafoam green look very pale and almost washes it out completely... but im worried that green on green will just do nothing texture wise and you'll hardly be able to see it. Thoughts? Opinions? Advice?

Question for any fabric expert. We know that polyester chiffon has an electrostatic charge that helps trap the Sars-cov-2 virus. Does polyester organza, a very similar fabric to chiffon, have a similar electrostatic charge?
Like chiffon, organza is a light weight, closely woven, semi-transparent fabric. Only difference is that organza is slightly stiffer, since the warp thread is very tightly twisted.
I have some organza fabric that I'd like to use as a middle layer for cloth face masks. Do you think it has the same ability as chiffon to trap the virus particles?
