I feel I can't be the only one who notices this: we have a "cheerleader" effect, a "halo" effect, etc, do we also have a [blank] effect

It's something I've noticed and it's just become more and more noticeable.

If we have (generalizing and simplifying in both cases) cheerleader effect, individuals look more attractive when they are in a group, and halo effect, if I like one thing about an individual I like all things about that individual ... here is my add-on:

In any temporarily isolated group of people, e.g. people on a train car, in a classroom, in a gym or fitness room, in a restaurant or bar, in a bank or store, etc, there will always be somebody who is loudest, smartest, more charismatic, best looking, etc. As an observer you will overestimate that particular trait about that person. Like suddenly, they will not just be the smartest or most attractive person in that room, they will be the smartest or most attractive person ever (with only slight exaggeration, and same on the negative side).

But then, you see that same person with a different group and they are no longer the [whatever superlative they were before], you suddenly realize how wildly you let your imagination run.

Or not. Perhaps Jim Kirk can weigh in.

Cheerleader effect

TheΒ cheerleader effectΒ is the phenomenon where a group of girls might look drop-dead gorgeous, even though when viewed individually, none of the girls are that attractive.

When we look at a group of cheerleaders, we see a group of girls with light hair and tan skin - that's hot. But when we look at them individually, we notice their facial imperfections and realize they are only of average attractiveness.

The Cheerleader Effect: gym addition

I had this breakthrough this morning after my first proper gym session, ie a strength/free weights workout and not me messing around on an elliptical for 40 mins.

I've always been terrified to venture into free weights and any machine designed to build muscle. Everyone knows what they're doing, can lift way more than me, and honestly it feels like they all know each other. Where was my invite to the gains club? To top it all off, they look so intimidating. Seeing someone lift my highest weight and look like he could eat a small village doesn't scream beginner friendly.

Or at least I thought so.

On closer inspection, it was more like 10% of people had the, Schwarzneggar style- veins popping- 200lbs of muscle body. Everyone else was a spectrum from big to small in height, lifting capacity and body fat. I spoke to 2 people max, (who were both way ahead of me in my journey) and they were polite, friendly and not at all what I had built weight lifters up to be.

In a group they seemed so scary and impenetrable. Weight lifters. It even sounds kinda daunting to me. In reality they are people, and not only that, people with the same interests as me. Fitness, health and bettering myself. They weren't bothered by my presence, or interested in how little I could lift, all they were focused on was themselves, as I was too.

Cheerleader Effect

i wanted to share my thought on the latest couple of events, blood moon primarily;

I created this post because mobile games pander on consumer weakness, we see a limited time offer and we feel like we'd be missing out and sometimes make unnecessary payments.

if you have dias but not have your head set on a particular suit or suits in this event, i recommend to take a breather, think about what the suits look like individually and if you have access to suits that are too similar.

yes, 2700 dias for 3 suits is a good deal but are those three suits really worth the price in our head or are we drawn to it solely because it sounds like a deal?

i am v7 but i havent bought a thing in almost a year, though i still have monthly card running. Anyways, unless you were hyped for the event, i see no point in getting them, all of these suits looks similar to the suits we already had (maybe with the exception of bondage fairy) but in my opinion, theyre not worth it.

(first two suits are almost carbon copies of association suits, third suit looks like every fairy suit ever, maid suit looks like the association store evolvables and im pretty sure ive seen some version of the "dark sexy vampire hunter" come around at least once every month)

How it works is simply that when people see you in a group with friends they think your more attractive/popular. Now that I know this trick I’m gonna be drowning in women
