A list of puns related to "List of psychological effects"
Anyone here with depression (diagnosed or not) or another psychological difference like ADHD that thinks that dissos helped a lot with these differences? Or even self medication try outs?
There are tons of studies on this topic. I'm overwhelmed. I don't know where to start. Is my topic too broad or not? Do I need to be more specific? Who are the researchers famous on this topic? Need tips and advice.
being pressured into covering your face and shamed/beating if not should leave a mark on any human being.
Can anyone suggest some detailed case studies done on building that explains which elements were used and why, why spaces were designed in a particular way, what steps were taken to effect human mood and behaviours in the building, etc, in psychological point of view?
This could be an aid in helping people understand different psychological effects in an entertaining way. Plus vsauce videos always have sources in the description so people can easily go more in depth if they want to. This categorization can obviously be applied to other stuff in the videos like physics, physiology, philosophy, etc.
Here is a very rough example of what the list could look like
Psychology:
mob mentality and Asch Conformity
Theory about how jokes work in the brain
availability heuristic
Risk assessment by Chauncey Starr
Physics:
How touching/contact works on an atomic level (Terms: Pauli Exclusion Principle)
Physiology:
[Saccadic/Saccadic Masking (Terms: stopped clock illusion)] (http://youtu.be/nNBTLbw1_2Q?t=22s)
I realized a pattern today.
Every time I muster the courage and plan to leave him, I confide in a friend/family. Yet, for some reason, I feel ashamed to later tell them that I never end up going through with it. That I go running back to him even after he treats me like dirt.
I feel weak and embarrassed for not being able to leave. So I further isolate myself from those that care about me and it goes around again in a vicious cycle.
Anyone else relate to this level emotional damage?
A few words of consolidation. If you consider selling your coins at this moment; I would like to ask you the following:
A new VerycoolPhone XYZ76.2 is released, and, you want to have it for personal use. In excitement you rush to the store and you buy one. Enjoy it!
Fact of the matter may be that you wander in store and find out itβs the only store left in the area with stock, yet priced at $150, instead of the regular $100. If you still buy it at that point thereβs three things that can occur in your brain:
1 - I donβt care how much it costs, I just want to have it. (Emotional trigger, Fear of missing out)
2 - It might cost me a little more now, but traveling to another place equals me out the extra $50, so, itβs fine. Good product, longterm use. (Rationally concluded that you consider this price acceptable)
3 - Cr*ck on bud, not paying that. (The product was an option to you, thereβs other phones thatβll suit your need)
β
Now, as long as you have previously done your research (prior to buying), it shouldnβt really matter as much. You KNOW what you are buying. Right?
Now imagine tons of people bought it at that $150, that could actually drive the price up in other stores. Itβs selling at both prices. The price might average out at $125, but surely, it has risen.
Now a movement starts of people wishing to sell their phones at $120 for them to make profit, and another movement starts with people that think βI could have had it at $100, $120β.
On a single phone you generally donβt invest to get rich. In an asset like crypto you could.
Imagine some guy picked up 2.000.000 chiliZ at 0.001. Heβs now βrichβ. As much as people want to tell you to HODL, you are effectively a millionaire if you sell them. If reinvested properly you are set for life. Your life has changed.
Diamond hands are great, and maybe that million turns into ten million, yet, you are set for life if you cash out. You canβt blame anyone for that. It doesnβt mean they donβt believe in the product, itβs just looking at what can have now versus what you may (not) have later.
THAT is why you only invest money you can afford to lose. Because otherwise you are constantly living in anxiety and suddenly even $10K out of a $500 investment looks βlifechangingβ. Which it really isnβt, given there are localities where this is.
The point of this whole story is; know what you buy. If you bought this chiliZ phone at 1$ because you believe in it, it shouldnβt bother you at all. If you buy thi
... keep reading on reddit β‘I'm thinking about designing a scientific survey about this, but I thought I'd probe the ground first to get things in the right gear.
What are your experiences with all things mind and mood-related when it comes to hydrocortisone and fludrocortisone use?
These are mine:
If my hydrocortisone is too low I'll feel anxious, worthless, depressed, demotivated, and there's pretty much nothing (other than hydro) which will get me off that mindset. Too high and I'll feel hyperactive and kinda manic, also extremely talkative and opinionated.
If my fludrocortisone is too low I'll feel panicky (like the end is near, similar to low hydro anxiety but slightly more physical), and generally very irritated at everything. Too high and I'll get similar effects to high hydro but then I'll feel more 'rational'. Difficult to explain.
Anyway, what are yours? I'm very curious!
Edit: amazing, thank you everyone for the replies!
I thought I remembered reading somewhere that if the lightning was intense enough, it would show traumatic memories. And if this is true, was it legends, canon, or both?
First off, I expect this to get down voted into oblivion, so if you want others to see this don't forget to fight the bots / shills while you're here. Also this is not advice, I just like the stock.
The psychological effect in question is called anchoring and it is something we all need to be very cognizant of.
Don't let the short sellers and hedge funds manipulate you into thinking "Well, it did a run up, so it could come down and maybe I'll buy the next dip."
If you like the stock and believe it will be worth more at any point in the future it makes sense to purchase that stock.
We have seen GME hit $483 with ease, and I personally believe that is way below this stock's true value. Remember, TSLA spent the whole 2020 pandemic running up to the equivalent of $4,000+/share at one point. It is also a good company, and before GME it was just about the most heavily shorted stock.
Don't let the blatant FUD campaigns dissuade you from buying as security you know you like and want to own for literally whatever reason you want to own it. It is your right as an investor to buy whatever you damn well please.
And be very careful with letting the price movements trick your brain into thinking the price is "too high" or "might go lower" - this is just the kind of subtle manipulation they are banking on using to shift retail investor behavior in invisible ways.
I reiterate: this is not stock or financial advice, of course. I just like the stock, and I like psychology!
Id be fine. Send me to Mars.
I came across this doing some other research... I have no idea why it's on a NASA server, but folks here might find it interesting.
So i've been drawing on a surface pro recently and i used to use a wacom intuos draw. That intuos was lost (yay parents, thank you for that) and I just bought a wacom intuos M to replace it. Holy crap i forgot how satisfying it is to draw on a wacom tablet (have not drawn on one for 2 years). Have you noticed a psychological effect with your wacom tablet? how it makes you want to draw? It's funny because i've been really enjoying drawing on the intuos compared to my surface and the surface is a screen tablet, but I enjoy drawing on the wacom a bit more due to the texture alone. I don't know what it is but i think the feeling of a pencil on paper/something else can really add to the drawing experience and make you actually want to draw (I've been having motivation issues with art for a while but the tablet's feel sorta helped, i don't know why!)
Over the months, I have seen posts (on a related sub) about people saying they have felt depressed or in a negative mood after reading information on the detrimental results/effects of nonconsensual circumcision. They are also intactivists. [Side Note: there is also a possibility of people who are cut getting defensive when people present to them the harmful effects of circumcision, which in turn makes them double down in their support of child circumcision].
Do you think we should still talk about about the harmful effects of nonconsensual circumcision, or should we not mention it? I personally don't think the consent argument alone is enough to convince people to not support child circumcision. That's why I think it is useful to bring up the harm that is being inflicted on the child. But I do not want intactivists who are cut to be in a state of sorrow any more than they already might be in. And I also don't want people to turn against intactivism because of a defensive reaction to the presentation of harmful effects.
If I'm making an issue out of nothing, I'll go ahead and delete this post, but if I'm not, what is an appropriate way to deal with this issue?
Hey all,
I am currently studying towards a master's degree in Psychology and am conducting research around break-ups. I, myself, personally, have experienced break-ups from a long-term relationship and felt as if I did not know who I was for a sustained period of time. This experience has led me to studying the concept of how a relationship break-up can impact your identity.
If you or anyone you know who has had a break-up in the last 6 months and is over 18, I would really appreciate it if you could forward them my study! Full details here: https://universityofsussex.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cC5nnBN6MSkAH42
Many thanks, and I promise you, you will feel better with every day that goes past. Just focus on yourself and everything will fall into place.

I'm pretty sure it exists, and if I recall correctly its name derives from greek mythology. It's basically the effect where if you believe you can accomplish something, then you're more likely to succeed in said thing. I remember it having a specific name, but I can't recall it.
Google is only showing me the effects on the body and I canβt find any thing that helps me make a slideshow for things that really to neurological effects like cognition and habits formed in space and like the physical effect on the brain like what does it do to your frontal lobe and that kind of stuff.
I own A LOT of XRP. I believe in the technology behind it and it is one of the most scalable and useful coins in the market. Like Elon Musk I too "do not respect the SEC" - America used to be the HUB for innovation and creativity now we are all witnessing the largest brain-drains in the history of what was once considered one of the paradigms of a functioning liberal democratic capitalist nation. There is now a silicon valley in China and India because they all leaving "MURICA" in droves; rightfully so.
All that context aside, how are you guys dealing with this meltdown? Just when we were about to breakthrough! I have screamed and shouted... I have cried in the fetal position in the darkest corners of my small apt. All this after a shitty 2020 full of isolation, loss of purpose & perspective, and replete with chaos & uncertainty.
Trying to find my inner equanimity cause i feel like I have just lost my footing. How are you guys getting through this?
I think, the Feral is a great Design in Videogaming. When you sneak around, especially on higher Difficulties, and you hear him screaming: Then you know, there's someone extremely dangerous around you and you prepare yourself for the Combat, if he spots you.
Whoever did the original Scream (which was audio-enhanced, I guess) is a great Actor. Love his Screaming, because it brings the Fear on you - if you play on Nightmare or even Letal, you know, if he spots you, it will get difficult. Of Course, sometimes you put him down with a single Headshot, but..
Worse is, when you already engaged in Combat or Fleeing with low Health and then, you hear his scream: That's a very good psychological Effect, like psychological Warfare of Demoralizing.
Love his design, how he's "walking", more like a Cat or Dog on all four Legs. Like an Ape, they walk on the Ground like that often.
What was your first Encounter with the Feral? For me, I played SoD1 long before and there was that Mission which first spawns a Feral and he'll engage you in Combat. That was a terrifying moment, and you didn't know about that, maybe don't have good Gear and not prepared to face him head-on.
Like that Feeling of "Well, I'm better sneak past him and avoid Confrontation". Reminds me a little bit of other Horror Games, for Example Alien: Isolation, where you see the Alien roaming around and you're hiding, hoping that the Alien doesn't spot you.
And as a last Thing: When you play Letal and the Game spawns a 3-Pack of Plague Ferals, that's even dangerous for very experienced Veterans of SoD.
Obviously we all know about the vault and whoβs there and Iβm not here to talk about why he was there Iβm just here to assess the effects of it on hem so letβs talk about itβs accommodations first itβs built by only obsidian and the Illumination used is glow stone so no sunlight itβs surrounded by luva with no way to regulate heat and the only actual activities provided are plain books to write in the diet doesnβt change from potatoes so no proper nutrients were provided there werenβt a lot of visits so the healthy amount of social interaction wasnβt there too
And the actual visits were negative in nature some were mostly spent degrading the prisoner and talking about how much of a bad person he is and how he deserved everything happening to him (again Iβm not here to discuss why he was there )the others were from friends a lot of it it was actually normal and sweet but the comment sapnap made about how he will take heβs last life had to hurt also the constant reminder of the ambiguous sentence that really sounds like a life sentence without parole and all that without the the pretty bad punishments for example decreasing rations and farther isolation and the actual physical torture
