Heart attacks and sudden cardiac death account for 45% of deaths among firefighters while on active duty. New study finds that firefighters, police and health staff could benefit from regular check-ups and monitoring to avoid heart events at work that might harm themselves or others. escardio.org/The-ESC/Pres…

Cardiac monitoring

I’ve had a HR of about 110-140 at rest for about 2 years. I’ve been managing to get it down a bit, the lowest I’ve gotten is 96. I finally got in with a doctor and he said he’s concerned about supraventricular tachycardia, inappropriate sinus tachycardia, or cardiomyopathy, so now we’re doing this MCOT patch thing which as far as I can tell is similar to a holter monitor but idk. He’s gonna do imaging and a stress test as well so that’s probably good.

I saw a cardiologist before because my HR was 200 at the doctors office, they took a chest ultrasound and said I was fine, so that’s why it took me so long to seek help again. I started passing out recently and can’t exercise anymore without feeling like my heart is going to beat out of my chest. It’s not just the speed, it beats really hard? Like I’ll be laying in bed and I can see it beating so hard it’s shaking my chest. I get a rubbing, tight chest pain, especially when I lay down. Sometimes I can see it beat so hard it shakes my stomach. I don’t have much experience with cardiac stuff, the symptoms didn’t really start interfering with my life until mid November. If you have SVT, cardiomyopathy, inappropriate sinus tachycardia, or relate to the symptoms I described would you be willing to describe what your experiences with it have been?

What are the best watches for offline cardiac monitoring?

Hi,

I was interested in getting a smart watch to know about my rhythm during the day/night, but I have a S-ICD (as in subcunatenous ICD, a defibrilator under my skin), so I'm not supposed to have devices with Bluetooth or various electromagnetic signals within 6 inches/15 cm of my S-ICD, which could happen easily if I sleep with such a watch.

Do you know watches for which you can completely close the connectivity but that have enough memory to keep recording for an 8 hours night sleep, and you could just transfer manually in the morning, or just re-enable connectivity and that would transmit its data then?

(and are fairly accurate in their ECG function)
