A list of puns related to "Captive bolt pistol"
I was thinking about this while watching the DVR recording of the Aliens movie premiere on the Freeform channel when one of the Colonial Marines took his shotgun and shot one of the Xenomorph in the face who was trying to get in the APC.
I've heard halal forbids these pistols because they only allow killing the animal by bleeding. So are you telling me these guns that hit the animal straight in the brain don't kill them??
If you are unaware, shooting a lock usually won't break it. Bullets are (generally) filled with a soft but heavy metal such as lead which isn't designed to penetrate the kind of hardened metal that locks are made of, locks usually being made of materials you can't just bash with a rock. Armor piecing or "semi" armor piecing rounds usually contain some sort of hardened metal themselves which might destroy a lock, but that kind of ammo is rare outside of military uses. APDS would be this sort of thing in Shadowrun.
Beside this though, there is a youtube lock picking channel called "lockpickinglawyer" where the owner has an entire series on breaking locks with a ramset, a captive bolt pistol used for driving nails through concrete. Captive bolt pistols are a type of small tool that use compressed air or a firearm blank round to drive a steel rod into something, usually they're used to stun/kill animals or drive objects like nails and bolts into concrete or metal. I'm curious if there's rules for something like this already in one of the rule books, I don't think so but maybe i missed it? Seems like a useful item for shadowrunning.
You can use it as a weapon of course but I can imagine it being used to slam handholds/footholds into a sheer wall or bust locks or electrical housings open. They aren't as loud as a gun and some models made by ramset come "silenced". Anyone ever used this in-game before?
The Codex says you can give one to him as a weapon option, but can I replace his giant hourglass with one? And if so, can he still use his Tempormortis ability?
