After a storming 2019 season, Adam Burgess occupied the menβs C1 at this summer's Tokyo Olympic Games where he claimed a fantastic fourth place. Great Britainβs first-ever C1 U23 World Champion in 2015, Burgess has been growing in stature over the last few years, becoming the 2018 European Championships silver medallist and a World Cup silver medallist on his home course of Lee Valley in 2019.
Introduced to the sport through the Scouts, Burgess also enjoyed his first exposure to Team GB as part of Team GBβs Ambition Programme for London 2012.
Adam is the tenth member of Stafford and Stone Canoe Club to be selected to represent Great Britain at an Olympic Games, continuing the club legacy.

Iβm sorry for such a random topics but because of the Olympic fever, Iβve watched the presentation videos of future Summer Olympics hosts. I can notice how the these cities are more particular with hosting events in existing venues while trying to minimize making new ones.
Iβd understand the creation of arenas and an aquatics center, theyβre easier to sustain. But the one big venue that seems to be always built brand new is the canoe/kayak whitewater slalom venues.
I know Athensβ and Beijingβs have not been maintained well while Londonβs made it like a water park. To those particular with the Gamesβ bids, is it sustainable? Was the canoe/kayak federation be able to use it for future intl competitions?
A noob about this but would love to know a perspective about my very random and nerdy thought haha.
Anyone watching the Olympic slalom and thinking how much fun that looks? I'd need a different boat but it looks so cool.
Iβve been kayaking for years now, and having seen canoe slalom at the Olympics, it seemed like a fun thing to try out. The canoe slalom website for the UK said a club in Baldock does it, but the clubβs website doesnβt mention anything about it. Does anyone know what the closest canoe slalom club is to Cambridge?

On TV while watching in the upper left corner it says what gate they are on. Under that is 2 boxes Misses and Touches. They frequently change, the kayaker hasn't missed any gates and the touches number also fluctuates between 1 and 4 but at the end the penalties say 0. I am confused.
