A list of puns related to "Can't Let Go (Mariah Carey song)"
Are the charts measured by downloads, as I thought they are?

At the beginning of a lot of the 8-bar phrases, for either the choruses or the "doo doo doo..." sections (at :25, :37, 1:13, 1:26, etc...), there is a really weird conflict between the low piano and the bass. Something does not seem to be in the chord and sounds like a "wrong note" to me every time I hear it. I can't even tell what was intended with this note. I can't tell if it's the bass or the piano that is causing the problem (I think it's the bass). Obviously, it was intentional, because it occurs throughout the song, but, I just don't even know what the point of it is. Furthermore, I literally can't find ANYBODY online that even mentions it even though it bugs the crap out of me. I like the song but does anyone have any idea of what they were trying to do? And where is the weirdness coming from exactly?
EDIT: After listening on the speaker of my iPhone, I acknowledge it is hard to hear what I am talking about. You do need to be listening on good speakers (or headphones with good bass) in order to hear what I am talking about.
βWeird blind spot for me.β

... keep reading on reddit β‘(Btw I listed the songs that I think are good for auditions so some songs are not included)
The tiers that I've been looking at are
-Audition
-Semi finals
-Finals
(Didn't include the parts between audition and semi finals because it may vary depending on the competition)
The singing competitions that I've looked at
-American idol
-Americans got talent
-The voice
-X factor
Auditions -I think the potential of this song can be on semifinals but the singer needs to put on a show in order to win
*With you
*We belong together - Btw I know someone got this song in the middle
Auditions and Semi finals- Great belts, great vocals. I can imagine these songs being used in both auditions and semi.
*forever
*Without you
*Caution
*Vision of love
*My all
*Love takes time
Semi finals- are not for beginning nor the finals because I think there are better songs to pick rather than these.
*All I want for Christmas is you - if near Christmas that is...
*Don't forget about us
*Someday
*There's got to be a way
Semi finals and finals - songs that are good for semi finals but can be used in the finals
*Emotions- only use emotions on semi IF you have one of the songs that are good for finals (only finals)
*Infinity
*One sweet day- only applicable in America's got talent because it requires assistance
Finals- songs that are the BEST and will surely get you that grand win
*Through the rain- If you watched mariah's live version, that's what you need to do in order to put on the best show and get that win
*Fly like a bird-Ditto
*Can't let go- you need a better beat to this and you NEED to hit that whistle in the end if you want to use this.
The most versatile song to use
Hero- I think it varies to the tier, you need to up your performance if you want to use this in a higher tier (like maybe get so many gospel singers and yeah)
And that's it. I just want to get this out of my head since people are auditioning for competitions they need to know what Marian carey song to use. Tyππ.
I believe it was for her 35th birthday. Seems like someone would have got a picture of that.
It hurts my ears and fries my brain. So overused, esp in carrolling dances/presentations. I hate it bordering disgusted ugh
Hi all! I'm hoping the Reddit hivemind can help me with this question. I've been searching for YEARS for this song and have had zero luck, probably because my description is so vague, but here goes...
I would have heard this song sometime around 1994-96, though it could have been as late as '98, and the song could also have been recorded earlier than 1994, though I believe it was contemporary. But I had it on CD, and I remember it being the last track on the album (I'm pretty sure it was an album by a single artist, not a compilation.) The song was fairly quiet and solemn, with a female vocalist. I was into artists like Celine Dion and Mariah Carey at the time, and this album was along those lines (although I've searched the discography of both artists and didn't find it.) It can't have been too obscure, as I would have bought it at a chain record store in suburban America.
I remember nothing of the tune of the song, and very little of the lyrics, unfortunately. What I remember is my childhood interpretation of the story of the song... which might be totally inaccurate, hence the impossibility of this search. But, to my childhood self, this song was narrated by one of two young children (or animals?) who had been forced out of their home into the woods/cold, possibly because of a fire. I vaguely remember some imagery about them watching sparks from the fire. At the end they were taken in by a family and were given shelter again. The part of the song that stuck in my head the most was the lyric, at the end of the song, "now we are one", which I remember being very confused by as I took it to refer to their age and the song didn't seem like it was about babies, so I thought maybe it was about animals. I realize now that this lyric could have had other interpretations, such as being "one" as a family, or the two protagonists being "one" together. I guess it's also possible they died in the end and the imagery about the family/shelter was about heaven or something. I am 99% sure that the lyric was, specifically, "now we are one", but of course Googling that gives me nothing.
The lyrics were fairly poetic and abstract, so I may have completely misinterpreted them as an imaginative child, but if anyone can solve this (or even just point me to similar artists of the time period so I can do some digging), you will be my hero!
This has become THE Christmas song in the world today. Everyone walks around saying how much they love it and I absolutely can not stand it. Anytime it comes on my ears bleed.
I know it can be a bit late but WHY
