A list of puns related to "Buckner & Garcia"
I found this in a local used record store a little while back. The sleeve was in pretty rough shape, but the record sounded okay, albeit a little dusty. It was very cheap.
A few years back, before Gary Garcia died, I was browsing around Google looking for Buckner and Garcia material outside of their Pac-Man Fever album. What I found surprised me.
I found that Buckner and Garcia had supposedly made an alternate version of the song, titled "PokΓ©mon Fever". I, being a massive fan of both PokΓ©mon and arcade gaming, went on a mission to find the song. I came up empty. It seemed to be completely gone.
I decided to go on the Buckner & Garcia website and e-mail them about it. If this song existed, I want to know for sure, and additionally, I wanted to hear it.
My original e-mail:
>Hey guys, I'm a big fan of your stuff and was looking up some more of it when I ran across something saying that you did a version of Pac-Man Fever with PokΓ©mon lyrics. Is there some way I can get this online? I run a PokΓ©mon fansite, so between this and my being a fan of you, I'm very much interested in finding and listening to something like this.
>Thanks a bunch, and have a good day.
I didn't expect a response back. But I got one, within the week.
>Hi Mitchell:
>Thanks for contacting us concerning the Pokemon song.
>We did temporarily record a version of Pac Man Fever with Pokemon lyrics as a promotion a few years back but it was never released commercially due to licensing issues.
>For that reason we are unable to provide any copies to the public.
>Best Wishes,
>Jerry Buckner
>Buckner & Garcia
So it did exist! And the news from Jerry Buckner himself! But with no copies released commercially, it appeared to me to be dead. I essentially gave up the search there, though I did mention it a couple times since (and am now a source on it).
So why am I bringing it up now?
A couple days ago, "Weird Al" Yankovic did an AMA, and I saw a couple responses about his song "Polkamon" and how someone didn't know it existed. Someone mentioned wondering what other songs may have been lost in history, and obviously the link in my head stuck right on "PokΓ©mon Fever".
I really want to hear this song. And I bet you all would too.
There was recently a post on /r/todayilearned about a song from the '80s that no one knew the artist of. Days later, /r/music [found out who it was](http://www.reddit.com/r/Music/comments/1mkcej/remember_the_mystery_80s_song_that_no_
