I was just checking out Latr (Tabs and Caps) and it sounds just like modern Boldy but with lower quality production. The only old Boldy album people actually care about is the one with The Alchemist and it just upsets me.

Tomorrow night sees the release of Boldy James' latest Alchemist collab, Super Tecmo Bo on streaming services. The Detroit MC has been on a prolific run the past years hughlighted by several Alchemist collabs and his signing to Griselda.

The Real Bad Boldy album is a solid boom bap breather after the more experimental releases of Manger On McNichols and Versace Tape. Despite the short runtime of 30 minutes, its regarded as his third studio album (according to wikipedia).

Boldy James hasn't stopped going in since over a year and his discography will only grow richer with Super Tecmo Bo. It is therefore interesting to discuss also the smaller releases so we don't forget about them.

these guys all give off a certain vibe that i just can't put my finger on. I'd say modern gangsta rap, but i'm not sure if Boldy James would fit that title. Same with Coke Rap. Someone help me out please.

I know its been over a year since it came out but finally got around to listening to it and I really like Jay Versace's work in here. I remember he was some youtuber who made beats for fun, not some master producer but the way he flipped some soul samples in here was pretty damn impressive.

Boldy's delivery is the same, he's smooth AF and the montone style compliments the soulful loops.

It seemed like people weren't feeling this album too much, or it didn't get too much discussion last year because of the Griselda fatigue. Were yalls feeling this or no?

I swear Boldy & Al’s releases keep getting better and better. Their chemistry is undeniable. Every-time Al switches his style of production, Boldy has a new flow that compliments it. These two might be my favorite producer/rapper combo. Al should be scoring movies with these beats and Boldy is a very good storyteller.
