A list of puns related to "Blackberry winter"
In the winter here there are still some leaves on many blackberry bushes, they have changed colors but they are still there.
I was wondering if there was any use for the winter plant, is there a method to eat the leaves, and can tea still be made out of the leaves in cold weather?
I googled this, but only found information for the spring and summer months, and no mention on whether or not the plants could still be useful in the winter. Thanks.
Today in central Alabama (zone 7b) we woke up to a frost after a week of hot weather. Our average last date of frost is April 3-ish. However we also get a phenomenon known as "Blackberry Winter" where another cold snap/potential frost hits between April 10-ish and April 15-ish. Not every year, but often.
Who else gets a blackberry winter? What name does it go by in your part of the country? And how do you adjust your gardening for it?
Here we have to be really careful about not planting certain things, like tomatoes, before the danger of blackberry winter has passed. This year I'm trying to get an earlier start on certain things - mostly annuals direct-sown outdoors - and I'm wondering how to take blackberry winter into account for seeds. Any advice?
Me and a few people have made a blackberry winter 2020 coop group chat on messenger, feel free to hop in if youβre interning at blackberry next term!

I bought a thornless blackberry plant from the farmer's market last spring and put it in a pot, having no idea what I was doing. Canes grew a little but didn't fruit or flower, and it just laid dormant all winter in the 7 gal pot. It's already in the 60s-70s now and I've got a new cane growing, so can I safely put it in the ground somewhere?

So the other night I had joined a few randoms in playing the new game mode, and it turns out both of them were grouped, and since I was also we added each other and played some rounds. After a bit, my friend left, leaving me and my newfound friends. We found a fourth who spoke, and went in again. When choosing a spot, I said "Why not Alpine River? I've never been" and, to our surprise, none of us had ever been there in-game either. We just didn't know.
Fast forward one minute, and at least 6 other people have spawned there besides us. Immediately, we noticed blood-curdling screams, which sent us all into a frenzy. Blood was everywhere. Most of us were viciously defending ourselves with fists, and after a grenade was thrown, highlighted by the flames of the threatening circle and the ashes of said grenade, loomed the ominous visage of a clown, obviously the leader of this madness, and bereft of clothing.
With the one weapon I had, a shotgun, I instantly focused on Him, attempting to end to what in my now-shattered mind was the cruel reign of an otherworldy demon who had someone restained god themself, and left them screeching under the ruins of what had once been a modestly priced faux-Swiss style vacation establishment, his new home. His Pandemonium.
In a blur I raced forward, beating the nude and the crazed off like teeth at a pancake-eating contest, and I aimed through my sights. One, two, three, four, five shots into his engorged skull, and down he went, clawing into the ground as if to return to the Hell from which he was born. The remaining members of his dark carnival instantly swooped upon me and my compatriots, and alas, we did not survive. The last, blurried image I could make out was the clown, being picked up by one of his minions, in all likelihood to go feast upon more teddy bears to fuel their rituals.
So heed my warning, and beware the Clown of Alpine River. Choose a different spawn point. There are much more sane spots to spawn into.
