A list of puns related to "Björk discography"
ill admit, since i didnt fully start getting into her until around october of 2021 (venus as a boy and play dead on repeat) its not like i can rush through all of her music in the span of 4 months ^^; but ive just became infatuated with her & her music!!! & when i become sort of hyper focused on something, i tend to get as much information as possibleon that thing to cram into my brain yknow..
while i have fully listened to some of her albums (4/9ish) i still feel like ... rushing myself to catch up, yknow? 😅😅 like ive missed out on a bunch and i know i cant catch up that quickly, i somewhat feel obligated?? and seeing so many live videos, bonus tracks, b sides, deleted/rare songs, its just ....... like dude.
tldr: i just dont know how to convince myself that i cant automatically just catch up with the rest of yall when it comes to björk music and stuff concerning her in general 😭😭 does anyone else feel the same/felt the same way?
So I've probably listened to Post and Debut a million times but for some reason never got into anything else. Not cause the music was bad but because my taste buds were still expanding. In many ways I've been saving her albums for when I'm in a good place to digest them with the same fervor that I listened to Post and Debut with. Any recomends for a fan who is still discovering her music?
I personally like to listen to them from start to finish because I love to hear the songs flow into each other and get into the feel of the album, and I usually reserve individual listens to her more pop/upbeat sounding songs or if I just need a sad song to listen to for when I’m crying.
MASSIVE DISCLAIMER: there seems to be a lot of discourse as to what order to listen to her albums, so I’ll be clear in saying that this is NOT a guide as to what order her albums should be listened to, it’s simply me documenting the journey I’m on and how I’m feeling so far.
Debut: I generally like to start at the beginning of an artist’s discography and work my way through it chronologically, and so that’s where I started. And it’s safe to say that I like this album, it’s a little bit of almost everything 90s, which is one of my favorite decades of music. I especially love the more house inspired tracks, such as There’s More To Life Than This, Violently Happy, Human Behavior, and Big Time Sensuality. Also Venus as a Boy and Like Someone In Love are such fun love songs, and I love Björk’s take on the latter.
Post: I was really excited for this one. My first Björk song was It’s Oh So Quiet, and it was such a colorful song, I imagined the rest of it was the same, and it’s safe to say it was. I think the highlight of this album for me though was the drill stuff, like Army of Me, Hyperballad and Enjoy. My go to track on this album would definitely be Possibly Maybe, it has such an eclectic sound and is so relatable.
Homogenic: This was the first Björk album that had me at attention all the way through. Not immediately, it took a couple relistens of the first three tracks of this album before it clicked for me, but one day Jóga came on my shuffle, and it dawned on me just what a god-tier song it was, and inspired me to listen to the rest of the album. A lot of people have described this album as “the sound of Iceland” and I have to agree. Songs like Hunter and Jòga sound as majestic as Icelandic landscapes are, and this album is breathtaking for that reason. My only complaint is that I feel that this album is frontloaded with bops, and it kind of makes the back half of the album a little underwhelming. Not that any of the tracks on the back half aren’t amazing, I can’t say I don’t like any of them, and the last leg of the album from Immature onward was definitely a highlight, but I can’t say any of these songs hold a candle to the bombast of the first two tracks.
Vespertine: There is not a single track on this album I dislike, it is definitely my favorite of the albums so far. I was aware of the compressed sound of the album going into it, but I sorely underestimated the role they would play in the atmosphere of this album. I think the track t

by “musical moments”, i’m talking about passages, transitions, or just really cool-sounding parts in her songs. it could also be about her songwriting.
off the top of my head, i’d go with the climax/last 2 minutes of unison, the interesting string passage at 2:28 of its not up to you, the orchestral swells of an echo a stain, the second part of family, and countless other moments. can’t think of it all lmao.
what would you go with?
So I’ve been listening to Björk for about a year and a half now, and I just joined this subreddit in the past week. I was shocked to see the patterns in how all of the albums were ranked. Personally, I would place Volta as my 2nd favorite album (behind medulla). Tracks like Innocence, Declare Independence, and Earth Intruders stand out so much to me. The sampling, instrumentation and vocals were all so diverse and interesting. I also really liked Anoni’s vocals in “My Juvenile”. I found that Volta was an album where she was less focused on pure beauty and really branched out to a lot of interesting concepts, especially in songs like Hope. Also, songs like My Juvenile and I See Who You Are are so beautiful to me, especially because of their simplicity.
I was also surprised to see Vespertine be ranked #1 almost unanimously. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore Vespertine. Songs like Heirloom and Undo will always be some of my favorites from Björk, but at least in my friend group, albums like Homogenic and Medulla are almost always ranked higher. I think that the reason for this is that Homogenic and Medulla have moments like Immature, Pluto, Ancestors, and Where is the Line? that make the album more 3-dimensional. I also personally find the instrumentation in Homogenic to be a tad more interesting than the instrumentation in Vespertine (probably because of my bias towards strings lol).
but now i'm curious
Is Utopia the antithesis to Vulnicura? Could Debut possibly be the part 2 of Post? There are plenty of potential comparisons. Björk's discography has always been continuously evolving and is very diverse sonically so I thought this could be a bit fun.
I read here recently that apparently it’s a popular opinion that the first half of Homogenic is better than the latter half. I know that also probably everybody still loves the entire album, but I just was surprised to read that. I think All Neon Like > 5 Years > Immature is one of her best 3 song runs in her catalogue. My favorite album of hers is Vespertine hands down, but I think vocally, Homogenic is her peak ecstatic ferocity, and I think those 3 songs exemplify it. The cracks in her piercing voice bend my mind. The whole album is incredible. I could go in depth about how much I love every other song, but it’s those 3 that really pin it to my chest. Personally, I prefer the Voltaic live in studio version of All Is Full Of Love to both the single and album versions. Hunter is the first song of hers that piqued my interest in her music. Joga is gorgeous. Unravel is heartbreaking and beautiful. Pluto is terrifying and glorious. Alarm Call is such an exciting anthem. Bachelorette speaks right into your soul. But it’s those 3 middle songs that always blow my mind possibly more than anything else in her discography. Her voice has such potency and vigor. I’m curious to hear what you all think about the album. What are your favorite songs? Where does it fall in your ranking of Björk albums?
Hey hey hey!
For a while I've been loving all them serene songs. Some examples include:
Oneohtrix Point Never-Auto&Allo
Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks!
P.S.: I listened to the discographies of these given artists.
In the last year I've been really getting into 90s music and I've noticed a trend of artists coming up with music that, while mostly pop in structure, tends to be considered at the boundaries of the genre and sometimes something else entirely. It cannot be a coincidence that Björk, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Radiohead all released their first and most widely recognized albums between 1990 and 1999. Also there was another trend in the same time period, of large pop acts going experimental (popheads will know about Madonna's Ray Of Light and Kylie's Impossible Princess which are two of my favourite albums of all times). This kind of music in general is right up my alley and it's probably my favourite, but it's still a recent discovery and I want to get to know more of it.
Would you consider this just a trend in pop, a form of art-pop that stands on the edge or another genre entirely?
What are albums by main pop artists that fall into this category (not just in the 90s)?
What are other artists that fall into this category? Possibly not just white women! I would like a more diverse approach to the topic.
Here are some examples that I really enjoy:

I believe some of her early records (Debut through Vespertine) heavily need a brand new remaster (last one was for the surrounded compilation and sadly has never been used again in streaming services even though there's Dolby Atmos and Lossless support).
I have been listening today to her entire discography through Spotify using my Echo Studio speakers (not the best sound but it's still pretty darn good for a "cheap" HD sound speaker) and wow... Debut through Vespertine sound either bad or flat compared to Medulla onwards.
I know the records sound old and the most recent releases always will sound better on this kind of speakers and streaming platforms because of the way they have been mastered (most artists master their music differently on physical media compared to streaming media).
I really hope that Björk decides to remaster either her old catalogue or most of her discography in order to have a richer fuller sound in this new digital music era.
What you guys think?
I’ve been a UNKLE fan since the War Stories days and have been searching for similar music ever since.
Went through all of my yearly playlists and have compiled a list of all artists that can appeal to fellow UNKLE fans.
Additional recommendations would be very much appreciated.

Hello,
This post is inspired by me getting to soak in Tori Amos' Boys For Pele for the first time this week. It's quickly becoming a favorite of mine, but it's not just Tori; ever since I got into older pop music I've noticed that in the late 1990s, there were an insane amount of records released by women that often share similar themes and characteristics (lyrical and sonic experimentation, introspective songwriting, etc) and that eventually ended up becoming the most acclaimed albums in these respective women's discographies. The most clear-cut examples of this period that I'm talking about are, in chronological order:
> Boys For Pele, Tori Amos, 22 January 1996
> Homogenic, Björk, 20 September 1996
> Butterfly, Mariah Carey, 16 September 1997
> The Velvet Rope, Janet Jackson, 7 October 1997
> Impossible Princess, Kylie Minouge, 22 October 1997
> Ray of Light, Madonna, 22 February 1998
> The Misseducation of Lauryn Hill, Lauryn Hill, 25 August 1998 (yeah she only has one album my point still stands)
> ¿Dónde Están los Ladrones?, Shakira, 29 September 1998
> When the Pawn..., Fiona Apple, 9 November 1999
There are other albums, like My Love is Your Love by Whitney Houston or One in a Million by Aaliyah that don't exactly fit in this line-up since they're more 'commercial' releases that weren't primarily written by their respective artists, but are almost as praised as the ones above.
At first I was just wondering if I was just exaggerating this pattern, because there are obviously acclaimed albums by women released every year, but, wow, seriously? This is some 1971/2020 level shit; so many groundbreaking records released at this point in history, and nearly all of them occupy a similar place in these musicians' careers and in the history of pop music in general, too.
I've been wondering what possible logical explanations you could come up with as to why all these albums all just happened to be released around the end of the decade. I thought of three earlier album eras that could have inspired these women to give their all in creating them:
Did the 90s Alt Girl Debuts Rate introduce you to Tori Amos? Did it leave you interested in checking out her discography? Do 15 studio albums intimidate you? Let one of Popheads’ resident Tori Amos stans help. (CW: mentions of sexual assault, child loss)
##Who is Tori Amos?
Tori Amos is a singer-songwriter, pianist, and author who gained notoriety in 1992 with the release of her debut solo album Little Earthquakes. Known for her confessional lyrics, exemplary pianowork, engaging performance style, close relationship with fans, outspoken feminism, and criticism of religion, Tori has garnered a fiercely devoted fanbase and has influenced numerous current and former Main Pop Girlies. Yes, even that one.
As a child Tori took to the piano almost immediately and was accepted to the Peabody Conservatory of Music at five years old—where she would later get kicked out due to having more interest in the Beatles and Led Zeppelin than Chopin and Beethoven. When her family eventually moved to Washington, DC, 13-year-old Tori was a regular fixture of the city’s piano bars. By 17 Tori had attracted the attention of a label executive and in 1984 she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music. Just over 30 years and 15 albums later, Tori is still making music—with an album rumored to come out later this year.
##Okay, But She Has HOW MANY Albums?
I’ve arranged her discography into tiers based both on my own opinions and the general opinion of fans I’ve met and talked to in the years I’ve been a Tori stan. She has can’t-miss albums, she has good albums, she has iffy albums, and she has what I’ll call extracurriculars. (Any stan should be able to recognize when their fave didn’t hit the mark.) I’ve picked out songs from each album and B-sides when available to help you get an idea of each album’s vibe. Albums are listed in preferential order with the exception of S-Tier, i.e. listen to Choirgirl before checking out Scarlet's Walk if you're doing a deep dive.

... keep reading on reddit ➡I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC

Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub

Due to unforeseen circumstances we're gonna have to remake this ranking... sorry for any inconvenience this might cause to any of you... we promise a surprise for all of you this Wednesday! in the form of a requested ranking!! Anyway, back to our scheduled programming
Hello fellow popheads,
for our next ranking we have another artist voted in by the sub: It's the winner of the Nu-Disco Rate Jessie Ware who became a sub favorite last year even though 99.9% of this sub weren't even aware of her whole ass existence prior to "What's Your Pleasure?"
"Spotlight" took the top spot in the rate and the TTPT, will it win a third time? Well, it's up to you tasteless lot. Y'all better not do her first three albums dirty and please curb your balladphobia when you get to Say You 10ve Me.
WHAT IS BEING RANKED?
Included in the ranking are her 4 studio albums as well as her loose tracks and features.

Ants don’t even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.
They were cooked in Greece.
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
I told my friend Björk was my favorite female artist and they said that they’ve only heard of gay guys liking her which actually surprised me. She has a pretty large appeal and a diverse discography, so I was surprised to hear that there are hardly any straight males that like her too. What do y’all think?
Two muffins are in an oven, one muffin looks at the other and says "is it just me, or is it hot in here?"
Then the other muffin says "AHH, TALKING MUFFIN!!!"
Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?

Hello fellow popheads,
Today I have a difficult request. Don't unilaterally hate a group of men making rock music. I know its a lot to ask, but today we are going to rank the legendary arena rock (pop rock for non music nerds) band, known for their constant reinvention, annoying politicking frontman, and stadium-filling, populist take on rock, U2.
While yes they are a rock band, U2 has consistently proven themselves as makers of some incredible guitar driven pop (see One, one of the best written pop songs ever made). This ranking aims for one thing: a comprehensive measure of how popheads view this legendary rock band (also U2 is probably my favorite band ever if you snub them I will cut you).
Included is U2's 13 studio albums, one live/studio album (ok so Rattle and Hum is like half live album half studio album so that's why its listed differently), one soundtrack, and some loose tracks and features:
