A list of puns related to "Base station subsystem"
I'm looking for subsystems that use dice, but specifically, where things were done in an interesting or unique way. Usage dice being a good example. Or tables based on probability distribution.
Less-Fancy Talk: What are fun ways dice have been used in games other than to represent numbers?
I fully expect to be downvoted to hell, but I see people call this transmitter a GameDAC and it bugs me as a pedant and as an electrical engineering student.
The "DAC" in GameDAC stands for "Digital to Analog Converter". In the Arctis Pro + GameDAC, the GameDAC actually works as DAC. (from what I've read, at least)
In the Arctis Pro Wireless, the base station is not a DAC unless you're using the Line Out speakers output. Either way it's not the 'main event', it's only there as a convenience.
The wireless communication between the transmitter and the headset is necessarily digital. This means the headset itself must contain its own DAC. Meanwhile, the transmitter is 100% digital from beginning to end when transmitting to the headset.
Don't call it a GameDAC. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
Possibly unpopular opinion but it presents a real issue.
I have multiplayer turned off but as far as I know there's no way to make these things vanish (I checked the game settings), and because of them every time I land on the rendezvous planets I lag like hell. It's nearly unplayable. Why does everyone feel the need to leave a message? We all know we're visiting the same planet. Please don't break the game for other players. My framerate drops to a crawl when trying to get to the specific location on the planet.
Didn't know what flair to give this...
wondering if anyone knows why one base station always stays on instead of going to sleep.. so far i've just been unplugging them after use
is this just a valve problem or would a different brand connect/sleep properly ? not that i'd do that, just wondering if valve is lazy
finally needed to test the app as it happened again, works very easy
FIX TO THIS PROBLEM: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jeroen1602.lighthouse_pm&hl=en_US&gl=US didn't have to pair them or anything just turned on blue tooth and it gave me an option to put it to sleep :) thanks in comments @lunchtimeme
Can go for 30 minutes and then it starts buzzing, usually a little tap will fix it for a bit
I have a Valve Index in my computer room which I've been enjoying a lot. My wife has a computer room adjacent to mine and is interested in getting in to VR as well. While our computers are in separate rooms, they are really only ~20 feet from each other. If she were to get an index as well and set up base stations in her room, our two closest base stations would only be about ~5 feet from each other (through doors/walls).
How would this affect the connectivity and synching between out two separate VR rooms? Before we invest in another headset I want to make sure they'd actually be compatible and work independently from each other. I'm just worried one PC might try to pick up base stations from the wrong room or something.
Any thoughts or ideas?
I've heard this advice here and there that if we leave base station powered on constantly (or on standby mode with LED's off), it may extend its lifespan but I can't find a solid answer. I'm an electronics engineer so I can understand the logic behind it, an electronic device take most of its degradation when powering on and off so powering it on constantly kind of make sense. What makes me think it might be a problem is the base stations rotating part. Since it constantly turns, it may wear off because of decreased lubrication and damage bearings from overuse. I'm guessing that it has a brushless motor, so electric motor itself failing is more unlikely to me.
Hi there!
I couldn't find anything via google specific to this, lots of adding outdoor cams to bases, but not other 2.4 cam's. While I understand the base is intended for the outdoor cam, considering it's 2.4 (I think?) is there a way to connect other cam's to it so I can drop 2.4ghz off of my ap's ?
Hi all,
Iβve got a problem with one base station. It doesnβt track anything and I canβt see anything in the room setup, but it does show up in steam vr. The lights light up as if itβs connected, thereβs no flashing red or anything. Iβve tried doing everything to fix it through software however Iβm open to suggestions.
I would be ok to accept the the base station broke and I just need to buy a new one however this is the second time this has happened and vive originally gave me a full replacement. Now that the replacement is doing the exact same thing Iβm worried it may be something else before I bite the bullet for a third base station.
FYI: All drivers are updated and everything is up to date (Iβve spent a lot of time trying to fix this but to no avail).
If anyone has anything to fix this Iβd be very grateful.
Hey, My base station is had a red blinking light... The Vive support said it was a mechanical failure in the base station. They said I could send it in for repair, but it would cost $90. This option seems pretty bad considering a refurbished one costs $114 and used ones are on eBay for less. I was wondering if anyone has experience DIYing this? Is it possible and if so, is it worth it?
So this is more of a question
I have 2x 1.0 base station for a rather short time like a year or so maybe longer and my tracking is suddenly behaving weird
So one day i just started up steamvr like ussual but my index controllers were having a hard time tracking correctly like staying connected or in one place so i bought new controllers since steam vr didnt wanna repair it / send new ones eventho still in warrenty and the same issue is currently happening with the new controllers so could it be that the base stations having an issue or broken cuz all lasersare working and lights are green
Edit: i also have vive trackers 2.0 x3 and they track flawlessly how is this possible
here's an image of the error I get: https://i.imgur.com/C9WLW7h.png
I've restarted SteamVR several times, and I get the same error, not sure what's wrong or what I need to do. Google did not yield any results for this specific error message.
EDIT: fixed it by power cycling the Base Station and restarting SteamVR, I'm going to type the rest of the error message out so people who Google it can find this post.
Base Station Update Failed
This device update failed.
This Base Station needs to be rediscovered optically by a restart of SteamVR before the update can proceed.

Sometimes I have to unplug and move the base station for 3 outdoor wireless cams. Every time I do, I get a flashing blue light on the base station and the cameras canβt find it again. I have to set up the base station from scratch and then the cameras again. This seems wrong to me. Am I ruining the configuration when I unplug the base station? Is there someway I can store the configuration so I donβt have to do this all the time?
Wyze Cam Outdoor Base Station 4.16.1.8 is releasing shortly! This fixes a bug that may prevent motion detection from working for some Wyze Cam Outdoor devices.
Thanks for your patience!

Can someone tell me how far away the WyzeCam Outdoor camera can be from the base station (which I assume can be indoors) and still work?
I'm not sure it's ever been a pleasant experience putting the headphones on the base station to charge. It's a gamble on whether or not you need to "try again," and make adjustments so you get the white battery indicator showing which bar is charging. Seems it's a 50/50 shot at getting a red lighting bolt/flashing red bolt.
Usually a little wiggle, a little nudge, sometimes does it. But just wanted to guage if I'm the only one who deals with this? I'm going to bed. I've spent like 2 minutes trying to get the headphones to sit just right so it'll charge. Can't get it and it's super frustrating. I have no desire to sit in front of my entertainment stand like an idiot for several minutes trying to get my headphones to charge lol.
FINALLY SOLVED 100 percent*
BUY A STARTECK USB 3.0 PCI-E card... solved
I will be making a new post as i have narrowed down the problem which seems to be tied to USB, 3600mhz xpn enabled ram, and x570 boards with Ryzen 5000x line

Well, i finally figured out what was causing it. I got in vrchat while the model was asleep and her computer off, and all by myself the index started grey screening out again. What I came to understand is that the more people I looked at the more it greyed out. I was happy because I had finally narrowed the problem. It wasn't the double index issue... It was my new computer (as the headset had been working perfectly for months). But my new computer has a 5900x and a rtx3080. What could possibly be limiting my headset.
Oh God.... New install of windows.... Power.... Saving..... Mode..... Fuck my life.... "Limits power to usb when under load".... Lol
That was it... Put it on ultra performance.... Done
Hope this saves someone some headaches, even if it makes me look like an ass
Major edit at bottom****
Just be be clean, the index I am using was paired to her computer and in use for 4 months. then i built myself a new pc but she got a new index. so I migrated the index to my new pc and she set up her index. we have 5 base stations and 3 vive trackers each.
when we try to play VRChat together everything goes perfectly but my index screen cuts out and grey screens me on and off , on and off.
if she turns off her index the problem disappears. anyone have any ideas at to why this is happening and how to fix it? thank you so much for your help.
*NEW UPDATE So I did EVERYTHING i could think of, I am using 4 base stations, I reformmatted BOTH computers, factory reset both index's, unplugged base stations from 3 hours. RePaired each set of controllers while the other pc was turned off and dongles unplugged. aaaaannnd, no dice. (though it happens much less since switching to 4 base stations) but the grey out problem still happens randomly. BUT ONLY FOR MY INDEX... so I guess my index has a problem? Time to see if I can RMA... but i bought from a thrid party as in my country it's not availiable. i might just be fucked.....and not in the way i wanted...
Update
So something I didnt think about was that the pc she is using for her new index is also the pc that my index was installed on. So it s
... keep reading on reddit β‘So my friend wants to get the new Vive 3.0 Trackers but he has 1.0 Vive basestations and I checked the Vive web page which doesn't mention which base stations work. Does anyone know if the new trackers work with the 1.0 base stations?
