A list of puns related to "Backward pawn"

Is there a version of chess when the pawn moves backwards?
Just brainstorming an idea to reduce draws in chess. I know Vladimir Kramnik tried the idea of chess without castling being allowed. What about allowing pawns having the option of moving backwards? Does anybody think this is a worthwhile idea to try?
Edit: Thanks for the response everybody. Some interesting ideas about making stalemate a win. Also Makpong, Makruk and Orda. I agree that letting the pawns move backwards would completely change endgame evaluations. Not sure if that would make the game better or worse. Thanks again.
I feel like I'm now a reasonable opener, and starting to look at improving my middle game. One concept I can't seem to get the hang of is backward pawns. Can someone explain what a backward pawn is vs a protected pawn. Is the pawn doing the protecting inherently the backward pawn? Or have I got this arse up? cheers
Often times I find myself faced with the decision and have trouble evaluating which one to pick. Is this question so board state sensitive that you can't really make any general rule of thumb?
I made this post last night on r/WoTshow, and despite a number of complaints on that subreddit about how I was raining on their parade, after a surprisingly good bit of engaging discussions with the some level-headed polite people who commented, I woke up this morning to see that the moderators had quietly removed the post without even giving me a reason. A couple of members of that community created separate posts asking why, but their posts were removed by those mods as well - again, with no explanation.
I hope this community is more receptive to what I think is a nuanced take on the show, and an analysis that critically examines the reasons behind why it doesnβt sit well with us (well, me at least) as an adaptation.
CAVEAT: The discussion below touches upon possible implications of Rafeβs attempt at turning an already feminist piece of work more feminist by updating it for 2021. I examine the consequences of the decisions surrounding this theme, and even play devilβs advocate for a bit for the misandry line of thinking that I believe the people from the whitecloak subreddit subscribe to.
Mods, if youβre reading this, I would like to clarify that I DO NOT subscribe to that line of thinking. I have no complaints whatsoever about the diversity and the casting of the show - the cast of actors in my mind are perfect just with the unfortunate luck of being burdened by a mediocre script. Any and all flaws with the show have more to do with its writing (or lack thereof) and Iβm only examining what Rafe and his team of writers are doing in context of his remarks about a more feminist take on the books. What I want to do is to examine how the gender dynamics of certain decisions affected the portrayals of those characters on the show.
An important distinction that needs to be made is that in the context of Rafeβs actions, what he thinks is feminist and is female empowerment is contrary to what he should be doing. i.e in showing the female characters to be powerful/strong women in contrast to intentionally weakened male characters, heβs robbing them of any empowerment thus shown.
With all of that out of the way, hereβs the post in its entirety. Iβve made no changes to the body of the text since I last edited it before the post was taken down.
>First things first, Iβm no Whitecloak, and Iβve cheered the casting decisions as and when they came out. Iβm also a Person of Color with no history of homophobic and misogynistic tendencies. Iβve got no proof,

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
AN : Finished chapter 64(end of Arc 2), so I'll be going back to add the Italic fix to previous chapters while I plan out the plot points for the next Arc.
I'm also considering either opening up the reddit or setting up a discord, although that will require other people for me to hand that off to manage, as just like Leo I am avers to management. :P

Leo
The preparation and trip to the slums had been relatively quick and uneventful, with Leo having to fly about two hundred soldiers over to the location, along with Elaria, Allis, and Sairiss. Thorin chose to go on ahead and was waiting there when they all arrived, but his expression was grim as he looked into the mana cloak.
Although the map had shown a thick smoke cloud that obscured the entire area, Leo didn't expect to see anything visual when he got there. He was wrong, uncomfortably wrong. It was akin to looking into a fogged window, the area itself visibly warping into a slightly hazy mist. It gave the space an eerie and ominous feeling, like he was about to step into the twilight zone. The rundown and abandoned setting of the slums didn't help soothe his nerves either.
Leo cast his magic map and used it to collapse and barricade all the underground routes into the area, forcing any kind of retreat to be above ground. He then waited while Sairiss directed all of the soldiers to secure a perimeter.
Leo walked up next to Thorin while gawking at the area ahead of them. βWell, that's not unsettling at allβ¦β He remarked sarcastically under his breath as he stood outside the mana cloakβs very visible perimeter, about two short city blocks from the building he was supposed to enter.
Thorin grumbled in agreement. βAyβ¦ Thisβ¦ This is a lot heavierβ¦ Spells definitely wonβt form correctly inside it at all, that's why I said that your sound spell might not work, and now that Iβm looking at it I can tell you that nothing will be cast correctly in that.β He informed him with a concern that seemed directed at something else.
βSo like a mana inhibitor? Also, that limits me in a major way, what happened to you'll be fine?β Leo reflexively asked out of curiosity and genuine worry, because while he wasn't at a disadvantage, having nearly all his spells nerfed did cause his confidence to
