A list of puns related to "Baby announcement"
Bernie.
That's a terrible name.
'no shit, Sherlock'
My brotherโs wife has been pregnant for five months and decided that they wanted to reveal the gender of the baby at our family reunion of about 40 people.
One night, after just finishing up a BBQ, my brother and his wife stand up and announce to the family that they are going to have a little baby girl. Everyone starts cheering, naturally.
Once the cheers die down a little I shout out, โDo you have a name for the baby yet?โ
My brother replies, โYeah. Liana Noelle.โ
Everyone starts to โOoohhhโ and โAhhhhโ and proclaim how pretty of a name it is.
Then after a moment I shout, โHow the hell are you supposed to spell Liana with no L?โ
"So, do you have to work on Labor Day this year?"
"No, we both have off."
"Did you hear they're changing it next year?"
"What?"
"Yeah, they're moving it to April."
Looks of confusion
"At least that's what my doctor said."
The dawning of comprehension on their faces, then big smiles and hugs!
..... Btw, I am a woman. I didn't specify in the post, but the context clue would be "MY doctor." I was just raised on sarcasm and corny jokes.
Almost 10 years ago now when my daughterโs mom was pregnant with herโwaddling miserably towards the tail-end of her third trimester and about ready to popโshe looked forlornly at her figure in the mirror one day and announced, โOmigod Iโm as big as a house!โ
And so I, the Rico Suave motherfucker that I am, popped my head up from the book I was reading on the bed and responded thusly without missing a beat:
โWell, baby girl, if youโre a house then youโre my dream home...โ
I thought our relationship was my rock on which we would build one hundred stories, but there were termites in the foundation. Unfortunately she ultimately turned out to be a mobile home that couldnโt stay tethered to a single lot for more than a few years at a time as, a short time later, she up-and-skedaddled from our lives and has been a deadbeat mom to our little girl ever since. (My daughter and I built a beautiful, cozy little bungalow-for-two anyways.)
Anyway, does that qualify as a pun, or just an extended metaphor? If not, sorry, I just always thought that was a good line and I wanted to humble-brag a bit.
The Denver Zoo just announced one of the sloths would be having a baby soon... I told my kids that there is only one best name for a sloth... Cole....
My wife and I were at the supermarket, when she looks at the list and announces "Oh, we need some juice concentrate."
I of course respond instantly by staring intently in the distance and stop walking.
She walks a few paces then looks at me confused. "Why did you stop walking?"
"You said we need concentrate."
"I know but..." then there's a long pause as she finally gets the joke. She responds by glaring at me and slapping the crap out of my shoulder.
Baby thought it was funny at least.

Edit (10/22/2014): Probably won't be seen or noticed by anyone, but my baby niece was just born today! She's on the opposite side of the country, but I can't wait to meet her!
