I dont know the release date. Though i remember some plot. It was about giant underwater station that served as some kind of amusement park. It malfunctioned and decompressed with people inside. It slowly fills with water and you as one of 2? playable characters have to get out. One of the main characters has amnesia and forgets his name so they call him "Kid".
Oh, it also has this over the top title with half of dozen words in it.
That's about everything i remember. Please help.
If you ever felt drained by Anki or can't seem to stick a study plan, maybe learning Japanese with video games might be a good idea! And I think solely text based visual novels are exceptionally suitable, as you can read in you own pace, have voice acting and pictures to make the dialogue more easy to understand. And for all of you, who like dating hot anime men, the otome genre, where you follow a gripping story while dating attractive men, can add another motivation by wanting to know what your 2D man is saying! (Many of these games are on the Nintendo Switch or PS Vita, but you can also find then on mobile or PC)
A few weeks ago I started a project in the otome community, to sort Japanese otome games by Japanese difficulty to make it as easy as possible to choose a game suitable for your level. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1frGAK7JBEb6YwHKQK-u7HHFjGXPV-aABsFDN0luiHpM/edit?usp=drivesdk
And for more about learning Japanese with video games and otome games, you could also check out my tiny channel, where I talk about otome games a lot, but also how to use them to learn Japanese. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0GeGfPUAPlyjSOWfzzoBxvranwLLX8dJ
I hope this can give some of you some new motivation and inspiration for learning Japanese with immersion!
It seems pretty easy to find vocabulary lists for JLPT or Grade levels 1st-6th grade, but I was curious is if there was a website that had visual novel vocabulary only that would not be a part of the JLPT. Even better if there was a website that would say what the visual novel is and then have a list of unique vocabulary below it. Just curious if something like this already exists or not. 😸
I've seen this posted around on here in the comments of many posts but never as its own post.

From the page's description: > If you’re just starting to learn Japanese it may be a little overwhelming to jump straight into reading native content. Learning a list of common words can ease you into reading more efficiently. NOTE: Do not worry about the example sentences, just learn the words. The sentences are there to help you learn the word but if you can’t read them then please ignore them. This is an Anki deck based on the Core6k deck with the following improvements:

The puzzles weren't so bad in the first one, but by the second I was just using a guide and quit by the 5th ending and just looked up the rest of the story. By the way, I also looked up the ending to the first, because during the true ending I was trying to save but forgot the controls and instead of saving the game I exited it, which immensely pissed me off and is probably one of the reasons I am biased against it. I hate ports.
Strictly speaking, DDLC+ is not worth it. The old content that is free is still the highlight, and the new content is nothing special. Between new music that is in a different style than the original (and arguably less unique), a new set of stories that are in contrast to the theme of the original game probably at behest of the fandom, and more meta elements but not enough to decipher the full story, it feels like we could have lived without this release.
H-scenes typically don't add anything to the story, and are passable at best and deteriorating at worst depending on the visual novel. In a recent example that I read, If My Heart Had Wings, they were okay in Kotori's route, but besides that they didn't really work for me. I would have read it without them, but the better translation was patched with the restored ecchi content.
What are your visual novel unpopular opinions?
if you read the first post, you probably know what to expect. if you didn't, these are vns that dont have translations that i wish had them. also, they dont have fan translations being made (that im aware of)

The game is about Shadows inner turmoil and eventual descent to insanity and the player is just a bystander not able to help her at all Its a simple game as im still a beginner and i dont know much about coding but i hope people like it.
The title says it all.
This is not meant to be a thread where I complain about my life: I'm just curious to know how many play VNs for the reason written in the title.
I have been immersed in this genre of videogames for 1 year and, if at first I convinced myself that I was playing VNs only for the beautiful plots, in a second moment I realized I was playing VNs because I have been alone like a dog for a long time.
The possibility of escaping and imagining things that do not happen in my life manages to cheer up a little, even if it is a bitter happiness.
Attention, I am perfectly aware of the fact that all this is virtual and I commit myself in reality so that the situation can improve; however whatever the circumstances, the reason why I play VNs is that I do not have an active social life.
What do the people of r/visualnovels say?
We have bunch of MTL website for Light novel & Web novel
Why we don't have one for Visual Novel?.. So.. I made one.. :D
Discord : https://discord.com/invite/6BWTzytd4s
VNMTL is for people who's fine with reading unedited MTL. If you guys ever read LN & WN from a site like LNMTL, you'll understand what kind of headache you'll find when reading them. Reading 30 hours of MTL might hurt your head a bit, but you'll get used to it.. umm maybe..
I used to use tools like Textractor, Translator aggregator, & chiitrans or Sugoi to play Japanese VN. While it's useful, I don't like the experience of having to keep opening these tools before playing my JP VN. I also love playing my VN in my mobile using exagear & kirikoid2, but I obviously can't open these tools inside android.
So I decided to MTL everything and patch the game myself and I love it so far.
After playing bunch of game I personally MTLed, it's gonna be a waste to delete it, so I think sharing it to everyone will be nice.
After we have DeepL & Sugoi Translator Offline, Machine Translation is not as horrible as back then. I mainly use Sugoi and I personally think Sugoi Translator is better than DeepL for Eroge VN right now, altho sugoi burns my laptop hot >_>.
Overall, the translation inside the site will be anything but good translation, you'll find some bug in some VN and if you hate unedited MTL, then just don't download the patch and you can wait for better fan translation or official translation. (If it will ever exist)
I'll update the site for atleast one VN/week, I might give some list VN that I can MTL and have poll each week to see what people want to MTL. Yes, for free..
Edit : After consulting to bunch of people and see community feedback, I decided to remove request option completely. I'll try to create poll system which people can vote which VN they want to MTL at that week, I will also create post on how to extract script, translate, and patch the game on your own just to piss off elitist, so you can expect bunch of tutorial in the future!
MTL is the future solution of language barrier~
VNMTL will only provide patch only and you need to buy the game on your own.
Happy new year! Happy playing!
Update1: VNMTL first VN Poll is here 📷 , You need to be registered to the site if you want to vote. You can @ in discord i
... keep reading on reddit ➡So, after finishing all 3 routes in anime form(In visual novel form, I'm just like 50% done with the fate route) I notice how... not believable? Sakura and Shirou is as a pair. okay not "not believable", Its just that if someone asked me who out of the 3 looked the least like a love interest, id pick sakura.. and that's mostly due to the less screentime.
Like in the fate route, we get a ton of saber and shirou moments as they were glued together pretty much from the moment they met and it was only in -heaven's feel- where they didnt stay together from beginning to end while Rin has always been there for Shirou from -Fate- to -Heaven's Feel-. Sakura on the otherhand, never seem to be around shirou much(in terms of the anime at least). in the fate route, she was constantly being pushed to the side by Rin and by the second half, barely made an appearance at all, and it's the same deal with UBW. the only time we really get to delve into her character is in heaven's feel but even then, her screen time with shirou is very few compared to what he got with rin and saber(mostly because she wasnt even with shirou much for like the last 1/3 of the route)
I'm not saying nor implying that Sakura isn't a good character. I think she's the perfect parallel to shirou more so than Gilgamesh and Kirei and a greatly written character. I'm just curious if there are extra sakura and shirou screentime in the visual novel that was cut to make due with the limited runtime of a movie.(I also heard that the Heavens feel route is the longest out of the 3 routes yet when adapted ended up as the shortest route in anime form with -Fate- having 8 hours, -Unlimited Blade works- with 9.67 hours and heavens feel with only 6 hours).
Note: When I say "Heroine", I'm referring to Sakura as a love interest rather than her own character.
It's safe to say a vast majority of readers on this subreddit read visual novels in English and/or whatever their native language is.
However, there's a decent amount of people who read visual novels in Japanese or are interested in doing so. Especially since there's a still a lot of untranslated Japanese visual novels that people look forward to.
I want to try making a recurring topic series where people can:
Here are some potential helpful resources:
We have added a way to add furigana with old reddit. When you use this format:
[無限の剣製]( #fg "あんりみてっどぶれいどわーくす")
It will look like this: 無限の剣製
On old reddit, the furigana will appear above the kanji. On new reddit, you can hover over kanji to see the furigana.
If you have passed a test which certifies Japanese ability, you can submit evidence to the mods for a special flair
If anyone has any feedback for future topics, let me know.
yes another dumb question but i am curious
I have only just started reading visual novels but I am 1 week into Kinkoi and only just finishing my first route.
I was wondering how many VNs you guys read each year, and do you wish you could read more?
I have made a list of visual novels I really want to read after kinkoi but it would take me years to go through the ones I want to read now, at my current pace!
Edit: Like I want to read these visual novels right now:
Meteor world actor, riddle joker, sugar style, hoshizora no memoria, 9-Nine, Senren Banka and Sabbata no Witch AND that is just of the top of my head. They all look so good and I can’t wait to read them!! Is my taste shit? Hahah
Also are these titles short or long? How long on average would it take me to read these ones I have listed? I listen to all voices and read all text
This is based on my experience when I played visual novels when I was depressed and soon I love it because it helped me get up from it. Anyone else?
So i came up with this question because i was thinking back to my top two favorite visual novels: Muvluv and White album 2...and i almost didn't read both of them because
Muvluv was too long and the start bits were a bit grueling, but holy shit is it worth it once you hit alternative.
I almost skipped white album 2 because the anime really put me off(I remember just not being that into the characters because 13 episodes vs 12 hours of VN development) , but it's become now my favorite ever.
On my first read of fruits of grisaia, i stopped playing the yumiko route halfway through and hated it...3 years later last year, i played the yumiko route+after story and it's my favorite route now, the heroine and route are just so fun and good.
So my question is, is there a visual novel that you almost didn't read/skipped because of a bad first impression or it didn't look appealing, but later when you gave it a chance or trudged through it, you instantly realized you loved it?
My friend recently asked what do I like visual novels, since to him it's just clicking. Ever since then, I have thought about why I like them and why do I enjoy that "clicking," but I'd like to know your opinions. What does make visual novels different from other games for you? Why do you read them?
Hello INAT!
I'm looking for a team who is interested in helping out with a passion project. I would love to one day work in the games industry, and I'm looking to take the first steps into creating a game. Although I don't have any published work, I love writing, and I also love anime! So I think a simple visual novel would be a good place to start. I began work on this with another group, but the project fell through after a few months. I don't want to give up on it because I really think it could be great!
The initial idea was to write 3-4 short stories (or more if able) or "episodes" that take place in the same world. They aren't necessarily connected, but they exist within the same universe. They do not have to be overly complex or lengthy. The premise focused on real life experiences or traumatic, emotional events (the loss of a loved one, or finding your true purpose, etc) that showcased the beauty of life and the connection that people share. I completed the majority of the script for my episode if anyone is interested in looking at it. I'm very flexible and willing to hear different ideas if someone would like to propose something!
As far as ideas for gameplay, I envisioned a visual novel with some light point and click mechanics, as well as dialogue options throughout the game. For example, if the scene transitioned to a new area, there would be a few icons that the player could click on that would reveal more tidbits about the world or the thoughts of the main character at that time. Examples of this can be seen in things like Famicom Detective Club or Ace Attorney. But again, these are all just ideas.
If you're also a writer, programmer, artist, musician, or anyone else interested in this idea, please let me know. Any experience level is welcome. Like I said, I'm a beginner, so I am looking forward to going on a learning journey with a great group of people!
Thank you!
I found this game calling itself the worst visual novel so I thought about it.
I can only get myself to read a VN for 10 minutes, maybe 30 at max of a visual novel in a day (though visual novels with gameplay elements are sometimes an exception). This is really bad when you consider the length of the classics. It can take a really long time for me to finish a visual novel after purchasing it. I'm still on the fucking Ciel route of Tsukihime for fucks sake and it's been months since I started it. And yes, I fast forwarded the shared scenes from Arc's route. Barely helped at all.
How can I spend more time on visual novels at once so I can finish them faster? How do you guys do it?
I read Novels often so reading is not an issue, but i want to experience something that makes the best use of the 'Visual' aspect as well.
Now that the title and this post might sounds silly and not very important as visual novel, in general aren't that demanding like other games (if you agree to call this a game) and you can basically claim as long Windows can run Powerpoint, VNs can run on them, but still, we need to always be considerate of telling those as to be realistic, you can't jam a 2015 VN to a PC entirely made in the 90s nor claim every potato hardware will able to run every of them.
Given that I don't found a quite extensive guide for them (at least in my 2 years experience in this sub) but then we still have people asking what's the best spec for their computer to run such things, I volunteer myself to establish a guide on how to choose or build a computer that can ideally run on most situation of running VNs, including those that would be graphically demanding or emulating console VNs. This would also hopefully be useful for someone who want to replace their own potato or old computer or want a separate computer for VNs in the future and hopefully they could also deduct a budget-friendly solutions for this.
