A list of puns related to "Allergic reactions to anesthesia"
I'm getting my kitten neutered soon. I have had cats for the last 11 or 12 years, both my own and fosters and have never had an issue. I have had 9 cats spayed/neutered and have had one cat have three separate oral surgeries.
But one of my coworkers has freaked me out by telling me about friends of his who won't let their cat have surgery because they had one that had a negative reaction to the anesthesia and die.
He tried to tell me that I should get my cat tested for it before I have him neutered, but I had literally never heard of it before. Is this something that is common and that I should be concerned about?
Ice cream for help.
This happened a few days ago before Christmas. Iβm crushed, angry, disillusioned and just confused. Weβve had our struggle with her seeming to care more about her work for months. Leaving me to do most of the childcare. This really has tipped me over the edge. Our daughter is 11 months old. Had the biggest scare of my life when I introduced her to strawberries and she had a severe allergic reaction.
My heart honestly stopped. EMTβs got there and we ended up in the emergency room. Iβm getting emotional thinking about it now. I was so terrified my daughter was going to die. It was so bad I remember a few of the nurses had to drag me to a chair because I couldnβt feel my legs. I called my wife 10 times. And probably left like 30 text messages. She called me an hour later. When my daughter was doing a little better. She was in a meeting but she had to go meet up with a client.
All my wife called for was to ask if sheβs okay now. After telling her how bad the reaction was and she couldβve died, she said sheβs βglad Sarahβs feeling betterβ but she has to go now because sheβs running late. Seriously?????
Our DAUGHTER almost died, and she didnβt think going to see her daughter and her husband who was still shaken up by the whole thing was more important than her meeting with a client. Iβm hurt. Beyond hurt.
The way sheβs been acting for months like her job is her first priority has me rethinking a lot of things. Even after a life or death crisis situation involving our child she still decided not to be there. Canβt look at her at all right now. She doesnβt even see what she did wrong. This is too much more me.
Honestly I just donβt know anymore β¦.
The other day I (16f) decided to do a bit of baking before I left to visit my friend. I decided to just make something for myself, never intending to share. My sister (14f) is allergic to nuts so I try to avoid them when baking for my whole family, but I decided to make something for myself.
Before I left I reminded her not to eat the cookies that were leftover. I even put a note on-top of the cookies in case she forgot.
About an hour later I got a call from my parents screaming at me because I caused my sister to have an allergic reaction. I asked what they meant and they told me that she ate the cookies I didnβt. When I tried explain that I gave her a fair warning ahead of time they shut me down and blamed me for it.
I really donβt think I did anything wrong, but AITA?
Species: Feline
Age: 6.5 m.o
Sex/Neuter status: Was intact before surgery. Surgery was completed successfully until waking up period.
Breed: DSH
Body weight: 8.5lbs
History: Nothing of note. We adopted him with his brother when they were 8 weeks old - they had been born in an apartment from a mother who was indoor but got out and got pregnant. Finished vaccinations in late October/early November (FVRCP and Rabies. Neg for FeLV/FIV). He was a pound lighter than his brother - seemed to eat fine, just seems his brother over eats. Pre-op BW was WNL (will discuss below).
Clinical signs: Pre-op meds and procedure went well with nothing of note. Technician monitored him for waking up. When checking gums/tongue (a few minutes after surgery), they were blue. They began oxygen and CPR, ended up intubating him, nothing succeeded. Attempted resuscitation ~10min. Techs stated that he simply appeared blue, then just wouldn't wake up.
Duration: n/a
Your general location: Southwestern US
Links to test results, X-rays, vet reports etc: No links, but the vet (whom I worked with for 6 months as a receptionist before leaving the practice) noted everything was within normal range, the exception being either BUN or ALP (I know it was a 3 letter acronym and not related to blood cell counts, can't remember which - I know it can be a significant difference) was minimally on the low range, but he said that can be common in kittens and seen as insignificant.

My kitten went in to get neutered today. Unfortunately he passed away. I worked as a kennel tech and receptionist in clinics for ~8 years, so I know things happen and it's not always error on part of the vets or techs. I also know a variety of things could cause this: underlying conditions, reactions to anesthesia, etc.
I'm wondering if it's more likely the kitten had an underlying illness or genetic abnormality, had some sort of a reaction to meds (although since he was fine with pre-op meds and anesthesia, I was assuming this is less likely?), or other possibilities.
We weren't interested in a necropsy - we chose private cremation. My partner and I considered the possibility that there was negligence on the part of someone involved, but I don't believe there would be - everyone there truly cares for animals, the vet was visibly upset at the situation, and I know the tech that was in charge of monitoring his vitals is very experienced and good at it, as I've worked with her. During the short time I worked th

So I (18f) have a thing going on with my group of friends for pretty much all of high school that we hang out on Sunday evenings at someone's house, the hosts change week to week, whoever is able to host that week. Anyways the agreed upon thing was that we all chip in like 5 dollars for food, usually pizza and stuff. Some gave more if someone else was in a rough spot and it always works fine.
One friend Carla's (18F) parents own a pretty successful restaurant so they like to cook rather than just order pizza which is great on its own, we all still chip in 5 dollars or so for ingredients.
The problem that happened is the dad who likes to cook doesn't take criticism well and always makes something I either can't eat due to allergies or just am not into. I stopped joining in/chipping in money when they would host so I wasn't a letdown for a while. I had definitely been as clear as an awkward girl can be about what my issues/allergies were.
My family has never been very wealthy and well we ended up homeless for a while so the hangout nights became a night I could eat something special without worrying too much plus my friends were always great about sending me back with leftovers if they could. So Sunday I decided to join in on the meal at Carla's house again. I gave money for it per usual. It turned out to once again be something I'm allergic to.
I wanted to cry because essentially I wasted 5 dollars that I could have used. Not wanting to confront them about getting the money back or being a party pooper, I ate some. Now the allergy wasn't anaphylactic, but I broke out in hives, my face was very red and swollen. I took some Benadryl and was as discreet as possible but my one friend Alex (17M) noticed and asked if I was okay so I kinda casually mentioned it?
Suddenly the room exploded. Some people were concerned for me saying I shouldn't have to do that. Carla got very upset and went to tell her dad who came in and asked me why I didn't just not eat it to which I replied I didn't want to be a burden or waste my 5 dollars. He grabbed 5 dollars and gave it to me, telling me not to eat there again. Carla was upset I embarrassed' her dad? Two more friends told me I was being an attention seeker and someone else told me I ruined nights at Carla's house.
So AITA? I didn't want this to happen at all and I don'

I have gon to urgent care numerous times for my allergic reactions, my face swells up, and each time they give me prednisone and other medications then send me on my way. I have called my doctors office to try to be seen while I'm covered head to toe in hives, but they wont ever see me because they book out 3 months and dont do sick calls.
She then told me to take benadryl, which I'm allergic to. It makes it difficult to breathe if I take, but she said if my face is swelling up to take it anyways.
Edit. I do have pictures of my reactions, my doctor wants to see me in person, for some reason the pictures aret good enough
Hello everyone, as the title stated I am dealing with an allergic reaction to the versed brightening solution. My face is covered with tiny tiny bumps and I have redness and itβs also super itchy and uncomfortable. I stupidly did not read the ingredients before using and noticed it had witch hazel which I have gotten this reaction from it before so I am sure I am allergic to it. I applied this product to my skin on Sunday morning 1/9/21 and realized the reaction by the end of the day when I was washing my face, now the situation has worsened as of 1/12/21 and I woke up today with a swollen eye and the itching is much worse. I took an ibuprofen to see if that will help any. My graduation pictures are this Sunday so iβm praying that this rash will go away by the then because it looks and feels terrible. In the past I just waited it out but I do not remember how long it took and nor did I have any big event coming up. Any advice would really help for now Ive just been applying vaseline around my mouth because the itching in that area is very bad and also under my eyebrows. I am worried if what I am doing is making things worse. Thank u in advance
At the allergist, I got a skin test and blood work done which showed Iβm allergic to corn. The skin test baaareelllyyy reacted at all, although I know it could still cause GI issues. The weird thing is, it doesnt and never has?
I still try to avoid corn and corn derivatives but was wondering if anyone else has a similar issue and how they go about it?
My wife got me both of these in November. I used the Sleep buds first. The first night they were great, but woke up with one ear totally clogged up. Wore them a second night and woke up to wet ears, that were starting to itch and hurt. I stopped using the sleep buds as things got worse. This lasted for a week, so I returned the sleep buds.
Last week I started using the QC ear buds to listen to music. I wore them for 45 minutes or so, and they sounded fantastic. The next day I woke up to wet ears, total pain and discomfort in my ears. This is still going on for nearly a week.
Has anyone else experienced this sort of issue? If so has anyone found or figured out a solution? I really donβt want to return these - they sound so good!
Thanks!
asking cause ive considered keeping one but don't not to risk it
Around a month into HRT and my body is suddenly rejecting spiro harder than it's ever done for any med I've taken before. It's started to break out into hives everywhere in my body. I can barely leave my apartment, I was howling in pain practically the entire night and couldn't sleep until 8 AM, but I simply can't let my testosterone get back up because having a sex drive was a major source of dysphoria for me.
What are my options here? I don't have easy access to a doctor who can prescribe me something else and I'm pretty sure AAs arbitrarily require a script even though they have no reason not to be OTC.
Nire is lactose intolerant but I (the host) am not? Whenever I eat it when he's nearby or fronting, I feel weirdly sick?
Walgreens wouldnβt give my son the shot because he has a history of allergies to the flu shot. But his doctor wants him to get it (and I do too), so I gotta find a place that is willing to do it and has the ability to deal with the possibility of an allergic reaction. Looking for Pfizer since heβs 10. If anyone knows of a pediatrician or family doctor who could provide the shot or a hospital that is doing it? Walgreens said they couldnβt do it because a doctor wasnβt present.
2mg estradiol 3 times a day, 50mg spiro 2 times a day
Shortly after starting spiro and estradiol tablets I started getting severely itchy bumps in random places all over my body. The itchiness kept me up until 4 am last night.
At first I thought it was just related to a bug bite that hadn't healed because I tend to get hives from contact with insects.
But after seeing a dermatologist a handful of times, and thinking more about the timeline of when I started HRT and when these bumps started showing up... it's looking very likely I'm having an allergic reaction to one of them.
I've been taking antihistamines (allegra/zyrtec) and they help a little bit sadly didn't stop more from popping up.
Soooo I talked to my endo and she suggests I stop taking spiro for 2 weeks. If it doesn't resolve then I stop taking estradiol for 2 weeks.
It just really sucks to go through this and I want to cry every night because it's so itchy and I don't want to go off hormones.
