Introduction

Wikipedia's Main Page is one of the most visited sites on the Internet. Averaging around 5.3 million views per day as of this month, it's a starting point for journalists, 5th graders during research projects, and the incurably bored sifting through the world's knowledge. The main page has been described as a public commons, the "village square of the Internet." So some users were surprised, to say the least, when they opened Wikipedia on November 20th, 2021 to find a looping gif of a woman pretending to have an orgasm. Predictably, all hell broke loose. (Or at least as much as hell can break loose on an encyclopedia).

Let's back up a second. Ever since Wikipedia was created, it has been animated by the fairly utopian principles of Web 2.0. The idea that social collaboration can create a universal, neutral, useful encyclopedia that's still open to anyone to edit is a radical one, and has been discussed continuously for two decades now. One of the principles that undergirds the encyclopedia is that it is not censored - but how far does that extend when it comes to the main page?

"F*ck" - the two battles of 2014

Today's Featured Article (TFA) is the most prominent spot on Wikipedia's Main Page, spotlighting one extremely high-quality article for display each day. To get an article to "Featured" quality is hard enough, and getting your featured article on the Main Page is considered a high honor. On March 1st, 2014, the featured article was [Fuck](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuck_(film), a 2005 documentary about the history of censorship. The response was mixed, to say the least.

kind of an update post to this post , but after I ordered myself a onesie version my sister asked for one because she's a weeb and finds it hilarious that our mom and grandma don't know what it is. Here in Poland middle shchools are for 15-19 year olds, most people here wear controversial hoodies and most people dont care anymore, it was funny and brave the first time but when you start seeing it again it just becomes the ususal, im not saying about waering it every day, just treating it as a regular hoodie, people arent impressed that much anymore. Yesterday one girl wore pornhub hoodie and even the class neckbeard walked past unamused. Mentality stars to shape around "If mostly anyone watches porn then why should we care if someone slaps couple orgasmic faces on a hoodie without nudity". But sure it may be only my school which is this ba...... EVEN FUCKING CROPP STARTED PRINTING AHEGAO T SHIRTS. Sure wearing it still makes you degenerate but the definitions of "degenerates" change across the years, it was unthinkable 50 years ago to openly admit to reading porn mags, and now people share their favourite categories. so i was just on a random subreddit and there was a post about a guy wearing an ahegao hoodie, and i thought the comment section wouldnt be that bad. the whole comment section was worse than the angriest comment thread on youtube. and while i was reading all of those comments, i started remembering everything my "friends" were threatening to do to me if i bought one. and that caused me to think i am a creep for wanting to buy one. the reason i want to but one is for wearing something that will keep me warm in the winter, since the one i want is a winter hoodie, and for the shits and giggles. i have no i dea if i want to buy it anymore, or save up for something else. tell me what you guys think.
