A list of puns related to "Abstract labour and concrete labour"
I understand what each of the above terms means, however i don't see where Marx is getting at with these distinctions. Esp. re: values, since exchange value is NOT the same as the price of any product, what's the point of discussing it/attempting to calculate it in the first place? Isn't Marxism in the end congruent with the equilibrium idea of pricing? And if prices are a function of supply and demand, how is abstract labour playing any role to their determination?
> Our manifesto is the most radical, hopeful, people-focused, fully-costed plan in modern times.
This is the description that Labour provide for their manifesto, which calls for a number of rather large investments by the government, from "bringing our energy and water systems into democratic public ownership", to the building of 9,000 wind turbines and an equivalently large amount of solar power, to 4.3% more spending on health services per year.

> We will pay for this by creating a fairer taxation system,
asking for a little more from those with the broadest
shoulders, and making sure that everyone pays what
they owe.
We will reverse some of the Tories’ cuts to corporation
tax while keeping rates lower than in 2010.
We’ll ask those who earn more than £80,000 a year to
pay a little more income tax, while freezing National
Insurance and income tax rates for everyone else. [source: 'Funding' subsection of 'Rebuild our Public Services']
This is the closest thing that I could find to an actual guide of how they fund their manifesto, aside from some mentions of taxes levied on companies in particular cases, such as "a windfall tax on oil companies" to fund their climate policies (p.15).
These statements don't include specific new tax rates, so I am curious to know: how fully and numerically has the manifesto been costed? Can concrete funding be expected from a manifesto?

I often hear people referring to these kinds of jobs/workers as being uneducated. I understand that on average these people did worse at school but their level of knowledge about their job is a lot higher than people give them credit for. They just aren't "educated" in the traditional academic sense
Edit 1: I get that people don't necessarily think that trades people are dumb, I just mean that these jobs are considered uneducated jobs especially when comparing to a job that requires a formal education
Edit 2: it seems that I was wrong
I was surprised to find out there was no write-up for this. I think there might have been one once, but it has been deleted, so I decided to do one of my own.
#The Author
Frey is an author, businessmen, and all around sketchy fellow from Ohio. He went to Denison University and majored in history – you don’t care about that, but I thought I’d mention it anyway.
Frey fumbled from project to project until he got his big break in 1998 when he wrote the screenplay for ‘Kissing A Fool’, starring David Schwimmer and some other people. Judging by its 5.6/10 rating on IMDB, it was exactly as bad as everything else Frey ever touched. After that, he wrote and directed Sugar: The Fall of the West, which must have been even worse than Kissing a Fool, because it seems to have completely disappeared from the face of the Earth. I can’t find a single scrap of information about it anywhere online.
#The Book
In April of 2003, James Frey approached the publishing house Doubleday with his memoir ‘A Million Little Pieces’. It was a tale of drug addiction, criminality, recovery, and a slow, painful return to society. A true hero’s journey in the Campbellian style. And according to Frey, it was all true. The book hit shelves on 15th April.
So what actually happens? Well, I decided to subject myself to it so you don’t have to. I didn’t pay for it of course. I’m not insane.
After the EPUB file had finished torrenting, I opened the book and read the first page, realised I was only reading the reviews and the book didn’t actually begin for three more pages, opened up Goodreads and saw that it was 515 pages long, closed the book, and returned to this document.
So here are the spark notes, reworded just enough that it doesn’t count as plagiarism.
James wakes up on a flight to Chicago with no clue where he is. He’s missing a piece of his cheek, has four broken teeth, and his nose is broken too. Travelling with him are a doctor and two mysterious gentlemen. When he lands, he meets his parents, who had flown in from Tokyo to collect him. Frey is then taken to rehab in Minnesota. He is almost immediately attacked by another patient, but finds solace in new friends – a young woman named Lilly and a career criminal named Leonard.
*This begins James’s horrible road to recovery. He experiences constant, painful vomiting from withdrawals, and a double root canal (without painkill
... keep reading on reddit ➡The Government and the Opposition fear a house price drop.
But this may need to happen. This house price increase is undeserved income for no apparent reason or need. and totally goes against the egalitarian nature of NZ Society.
If house prices dropped people could still live in them but would probably have to keep paying the agreed inflated price that the house was worth before the crash.
Would the banks fore-close on a mortgage just because the equity dropped below the principle left to pay on the mortgage?
Could the government pass legislation to protect house owners against mortgage sales post crash?
Would the government...?
Hey guys! I'm 40 weeks today , I haven't really been having any Braxton Hicks. Occasionally I get sharp kinda pains in my lower back or some pains out walking. But anything in my belly I honestly think is just the baby kicking- like an MMA fighter at this point. Were any of you the same? Otherwise I've no signs of labour no mucus plug, nothing else really. I've always carried low so it's hard to tell. They say babies head is down and engaged so that's good I suppose. Just wondering did any of you not get practice contractions before or anything like that and just straight into the spontaneous labour? My hospital doesn't take me in for induction until 12 days overdue here in Ireland. 😏 Have tried the ball, the spicy food the raspberry tea etc Just ranting really. Is it possible that those lower back pains were some sort of contractions? Clutching at straws here 😅 Thanks guys
Life is very weird! I just always thought this was such a weird thing… of course, the man has to get money as well and take care of the child. But so does the woman, many women work in these days as well… to get money. So both parents have to do that. Is it totally weird or unfair in your opinion that the man only really does the fun part and the woman goes through everything? Why was it made like this? I mean, we can’t change it because that’s how it was made… that’s how life is. But no wonder some women these days never want to be a mother.
Please I don’t want hate because I’m only just asking if others think it’s somewhat unfair and how to change our mindset on this to something more positive? It is still so beautiful that women can go through this and create a whole human!
Also do you think the girl should be able to name them and have more say in it because she had to go through it all?
