A list of puns related to "Abortion statistics in the United States"
I am out of the loop because I live in Canada. But I keep seeing all these posts on social media regarding abortion and birth control laws in the United states. Are they banning one or both of those or cutting funding for it? And more importantly why would they do this? Can someone fill me in?
Examples of 2 articles I've seen; and I've seen multiple tweets about abortion in the United states lately

Think about it.
At the point Thanos snaps, there will be some arbitrary universal constant for what happens to pregnant women. If pregnant women disappear with their fetuses, then it becomes an objective fact that fetuses are not human. But if say, for example, women have spontaneous phantom pregnancies or thereβs just a ton of fetuses lying on the ground, then the pro-life people are right and Roe V Wade gets repealed. If itβs a mix, then you have enough empirical data to determine at which point the universe decides a fetus is a human and build the law from that.
Thank you Thanos for settling this major political divide in our country.
People are so worried about how the new SCOTUS might interpret some pretty major cases...but if "the people" want the law to work a certain way, couldn't they just make the law better?
Edit: For clarity - this is under the assumption that the law is constitutional (though recognizing that even an unconstitutional law could be made constitutional through amendments).
In 1990 there were 248 million people and 200 million firearms in the U.S. There were 23,440 murders and 1,054,860 assaults.
In 2017 there were 325 million people and 370 million firearms. There were 17,284 murders and 810,825 assaults.
In 27 years the population increased by 77 million, the number of firearms increased by 170 million. The number of murders decreased by 6,156 and the number of assaults decreased by 244,035.

While thereβs no accurate way to determine the number of active crimes stopped by guns yearly itβs estimated to be somewhere between 67,000 and 2.5 million. The first number being reported by a gun control advocacy group and the second number being reported by the NRA. The actual number is somewhere in the middle. These are crimes that were stopped by armed citizens. https://takingnote.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/04/15/defensive-gun-use/
Itβs often touted that the US has a high murder rate compared to other devolved nations and that is true by a lot. However our rates of assault are lower than many developed nations. The US had an assault rate of 237 per 100,000 people in 2015. For the same year Brazil 323 per 100,00, Ireland 317, Belgium 600, Australia 279, UK 420, France 379, Netherlands 281, New Zealand 220. https://knoema.com/atlas/ranks/Assault-rate
Most guns used to commit crime are possessed illegally. Most Criminals are not walking into gun stores and buying firearms. From a Politifact article βFaso said "The vast majority of crime that is gun related is committed by people who illegally are possessing that firearm." https://www.politifact.com/new-york/statements/2018/mar/12/john-faso/do-illegal-gun-owners-commit-most-gun-crime-rep-fa/
From a recent Fox News article βThe findings concluded 6 percent had stolen the weapon, 7 percent found it at a crime scene and 43 percent obtained it off the street or on the black market. More than 25 percent had received it from a family member or friend, or as a gift. About 1.3 percent of all prisoners obtained a gun from a retail source and used it during their offense, the study stated. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.foxnews.com/us/new-doj-study-shows-vast-majority-of-guns-used-by-criminals-bought-on-black-market-not-at-stores-or-shows.amp
Now we have to address who commits crimes in America. African Americans account for 13% of the popul

B.Tech. in Computer Science with GPA of 3.14.
Had two courses in Maths (Maths 1 and Maths 2) with not so great marks.
Have total of 4 years of experience as software engineer out of which for two years I have been working on cognitive applications. So, I can train ML models and in general know how the maths going behind these algorithms.
Now, I am planning to do my masters mainly to accelerate my career and not really interested in PhD. I know, to accelerate your career you donβt need a masters, but you would agree that nowadays companies are asking beyond your bachelorβs degree in data science field. Also, I want to have a formal education on these subjects than whatever I have self-taught myself.
I would also not pursue masters in ML or any specific subfield (like NLP, CV etc) as I think Stats is what will open the doors for what I need in this field and once I have a total grasp on theoretical aspects of Statistics and with my given coding experience in ML domain, I will be able to deal with these topics very well. Talking about universities, I do not think that top universities will be taking my applications as my past records is not that impressive and acceptance rate is also low. Money is also an issue for me. So, what I am looking for is any university where we have good professor or department with total fees of maximum $60k and I would be willing to pay $60k ONLY if the university is worth it else I am fine with $40k-$45k. Anything lower (if available) also would work for me.
Again, my expectation from this course is to accelerate my career, so placement to companies is also a factor.
Let me know if I am thinking anything wrong above. But below are the questions I really need answers to.
Q1. Given my GPA and budget what colleges would you suggest in United States?
Q2. I have not read much about Canada, but what colleges universities would you recommend in Canada? And how much fees difference is there in between US and Canada ? Is it really worth doing masters in Canada if I am just focused on my career and not PhD ?
PS: My information or question might seem absurd as I have limited information and I am still reading on internet. But please let me know.
[49 percent of Americans view abortion as morally wrong, while only 22 percent say the same about embryonic stem cell research and 12 percent say the same about in vitro fertilization] (https://www.pewforum.org/2013/08/15/abortion-viewed-in-moral-terms/)
Do you think that the full legalization of it all at once ("resolving" something that could've had the steam let out over time with debate and gradual legalization in states that wanted it) contributed to its status as one of the most heated topics in modern American politics?
I've heard of abortion and embryonic stem cell research being mentioned in political debates, but not really ivf. Why aren't Americans as opinionated about it as the other two?
I was browsing reddit and came across a random post about abortion and it had never occurred to me what the deal is with a woman that doesnβt want to keep the baby but the father does. Is it only the womanβs choice because itβs her body? Is it a joint decision where If the father wants it the mother canβt get the abortion. I remember looking it up before but I didnβt really understand it. Thank you.
