Shoutout to all the streamers who once again allowed those of us with no decent alternatives to enjoy the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The region blocking and other shenanigans that affect viewers in North America are absolutely shameful, and the constant advertisements on the one broadcast we could watch were downright insulting. Fortunately, a few good men were willing to share the superior broadcast with those of us who were kept from it. Thank you once again guys!

This year I'm even more grateful, because they've changed which channel hosts the IMSA series to one that I don't have, so it's been frustrating trying to keep up with my favorite series of races. I'm glad I didn't have to worry about that for the 24LM.

I totally get this probably won't happen due to how much work it would take, but I would love to see a hour long race. With every sport not showing, 8 minutes twice a week just isn't cutting it for me.

TIL The 24 Hours of Le Mans traditionally begins with a "standing start", where drivers run to their car. Feeling this type of start was unsafe, Jacky Ickx opposed it by walking across the track while his competitors ran. He was nearly hit by a car, and another was killed. #The Race The 24 Heures du Mans brings up its 85th edition this year, and is the holy grail of endurance motor racing. After its first running in 1923, the course and cars have evolved to become the premier event in the World Endurance Championship, and the event is recognized as the most prestigious test for innovations in motorsport technology. Technologies such as disk and air brakes, streamlined bodywork, and a variety of engine configurations were trialled and tested at the 24 hours of Le Mans. The Mazda 787b (oh god listen to that sound!) was the first, and so far only car to win running a Wankel Rotary engine, winning in 1991. Additionally, it is also the only Japanese made car to win outright at the Circuit de la Sarthe (...thus far). Audi brought diesel engines their first success in 2006 with the R10 TDI, and then brought Hybrid technology to victory for the first time in 2012 with the R18 e-tron Quattro. The race has seen many periods of domination in its time: Ford in the late 60’s with the GT40, Porsche in the 70’s and 80’s with the 917 and the 956/962, and through the 2000s by Audi team Joest. Currently, Porsche holds the most number of Le Mans victories at 18 overall wins, and over 100 class wins. Audi is second on the list of overall wins at 13, all since 2000. The driver with the most Le Mans wins is Mr Le Mans, Tom Kristensen, with 9 Le Mans wins to his name. He inherited the title “Mr Le Mans” from Jacky Ickx, a Porsche factory driver who won 6 times.
