18th Street Nw Puns

Everyone is alive. Paramedics taking cyclist to hospital (looks like broken arm and possible neck/back injury but conscious!). Street blocked off for now. Not sure who was at fault but be careful out there, friends.

I would imagine as a driver you are aware that drivers must yield to pedestrians in crosswalks (marked or unmarked) and an unmarked crosswalk exists at all intersections. If this is news to you, then consider yourself informed.

Additionally, especially considering you were an older gentleman driving a nice car, I would also imagine you would know that such a reckless display not only is illegal, but it is fruitless. I would hope that you would know that the extra 10 seconds that one takes to obey the law, and well, quite frankly, do the right thing, is worth it.

I hope you drove away and thought to yourself who was that exactly that was behaving that way? If you didn't, I hope you have the pleasure of not ever being behind a driver such as yourself, and I hope your loved ones have the opportunity to cross the street when law abiding drivers yield to them.

And well, perhaps when someone takes the time our of their day to do something nice for you, I hope it resonates.

EDIT: We and our loved ones are all pedestrians at some point in the day. When you chose to drive you are responsible for a potentially lethal machine. Don't make excuses for why you can't follow the law.

Get off your damn phone and turn on your lights. You blew the stop sign and somehow missed the big flashing walk signs. I'm glad I was paying attention, but you could have seriously hurt somebody.

This isn't the first time someone's blown that stop sign and almost hit one of my friends or me on the crosswalk. GTPD has occasionally watched this spot and I'm thankful for it, but it's getting ridiculous. End rant

It seems that the two gangs are ridiculously out to get each other, esp in El Salvador, their dropping like flies over there. I heard there was a war between the two in LA in the 90’s, but does anyone know what cliques originally started beefing & what side took the most loses? I’m genuinely curious as MS even on the east coast hates 18 w a burning passion. Saw this one case where the Sailors clique killed some poor guy wearing a Peyton Manning jersey (#18) bc they thought he was 18th street. Their rivalry seems rly personal & wild.

As the title says, it's puzzles in the pub (Waitoa Victoria Street from 5.30pm. WellyJam Twitter Facebook Recent feedback was that it was pretty tricky so I'm going to bring along a range of difficulties. The main point is to meet and have fun and do some maths, so it's silly to make things too difficult to enjoy. PS don't tell anyone but for this month I've got some puzzles from a spy agency. There's a black dog with a silver collar that came from the Rat Creek area that is running around. Very skittish and can't get near him/her. I can't get close enough to catch him so hopefully someone will be able to identify him if they put him in the back yard.

Hi Washingtonians!

I was beaten by officers during the peaceful demonstration in Lafayette Square on June 1, 2020 (the one where Trump posed for a photo op with the Bible afterward).

I am a white woman in my late-50's with gray hair in a ponytail and was kneeling with my arms up near the corner of 16th & H Streets NW (on the Lafayette Park side of H Street NW). I've added photos of myself from that day below. Around 6:30pm, officers charged at me. They knocked me over and struck me with a baton. I was wearing a black t-shirt, black pants, sneakers, a black hat, and eyeglasses. Two young men helped carry me down H Street NW towards Connecticut Ave NW, away from the officers who attacked me. I was injured as a result of the attack, and I am now seeking legal action. A WUSA9 news anchor captured part of the attack on video.
