If you ask me, OnyxKing's Zelus seems to be an interesting addition to the bigger lore regarding the former-Inkling-turned-human.
Basically, concept-wise, Zelus has become something of a discussion/what-if scenario involving what would happen if someone tries to chase the trends, but isn't confident enough when bigger icons do the same. She's also a look at how a used concept can be wasted by not being utilized at all and that it's better to try than do nothing with a concept. This is shown how Meggy ends up developing into more than just a Splatoon gag while Zelus devolves into the very person OnyxKing fears to be, a rip-off/copycat/imitation.
Zelus being independent and real on her own is representative of how when someone forces that idea to happen, but ultimately has no idea on what to do next. Basically, instead of making a name for herself, she chose to start causing trouble and havoc out of spite. This truly shows how short-sighted she is (as well as half-baked ideas are).
At the same time, I see her as an interesting foil/opposite to Desti in how they progress as characters. Basically, Desti becoming her own entity while Zelus being defined by the very person she one-sidedly rivals with/despises.
In other words, I see Zelus as Piconjo to Meggy's Pico.
Thoughts on Zelus?
For reference, Zelus is an OC by OnyxKing67 who's essentially a self-aware character based on the worry of how a Splatoon OC can be perceived as a copycat, as in OnyxKing's story, Zelus was dumped due to worries of being similar to Meggy. But being left out without being deleted caused her to become a vengeful, self-loathing, envious individual with an identity crisis and heavy hateful rivalry after being stuck in a CPU for too long. From what I see, Zelus had been an interesting addition to the Meggy lore, serving as the Piconjo to Meggy's Pico.
For all I know, Zelus would've been a VERY bad influence on Auri Bori. Not only would her ruthlessness and envy harm anyone who does as much as annoy her she'd see in front of Auri, but if she'd became Auri's deputy partner, Auri would end up being a bad cop. Worse, Auri's law enforcement would be motivated and instill fear on many rather than justice.
One scenario I can imagine Zelus doing is that she'd break Whisk's mask and zaps the catgirl repeatedly for being "a nuisance." This would end up breaking Auri's mindset and makes him adopt a crueler one that brings punishment more than how justice intended.
As for how I imagine Zelus ending up on Aura Bora, she could be revived/materialized in human form thanks to a ship's computer.
