This story is based in the SSB-verse (created by u/bluefishcake) and takes place at least 100 years after initial occupation. Humanity has proven itself in combat, subterfuge, and all-around fucking shit up so much that the Shil are starting to feel threatened. To mitigate that threat, at least according to the nobles in charge (with valuable input from those who were on the ground with the human forces), they agree to return partial autonomy of Earth to the humans, under the conditions that they still provide the above-mentioned services in name of the empire, and they stay under the management of a planetary governess. This story is not canon, although there will be canonical elements included. This is strictly a fanfic and I hope it rocks as hard as it sounds in my head.

“Sir, I’m picking up a phase reading from the destroyer.”
“Shut it down. A single volley should do it.” There’s no point in trying to escape considering she’s surrounded. Something fucky is going on here. I watch the destroyer shudder violently as the rounds tear through its hull. “Prepare a boarding party. Notify Luna to send over Johnson and his men.”
“Sir, the reading is increasing.”
“What do you mean ‘increasing’? We destroyed their grav drives right?” Yeah, something suspicious is happening.
“Our shots were spot on. There’s no way we missed.”
“Then keep shooting.” I can’t escape the feeling that something bad is about to happen. I don’t act on it since we’re trained to not act on feelings and “instinct”, but this feels more survival instinct than caution.
“Sir, readings have reached critical levels”
Oh…fuck. “All ships turn about and retreat immediately!” I override ship’s steering to manual and running on instinct point Terra “down” while redlining our engines. The blast radius of a grav drive is dependent on the ship it’s installed on, with larger ships requiring larger drives. A destroyer has a big enough drive to wipe out a significantly large chunk of the surrounding space and then some. Not enough to hurt Flora, but the shockwave will spread fairly far.
If it weren’t for the extra power from the antimatter reactors we wouldn’t have gotten far enough away to avoid serious damage. When
