A list of puns related to "Western Astrology"
I wasn't very spiritual growing up and always thought science and logic was the best way of explaining everything. So you can imagine I was pretty dismissive of astrology.
I find that I have a more open mind now and I'm curious to learn more about what people's opinions and experiences are.
I did have an experience with Chinese astrology (BaZi) and it blew my mind how accurate it can be in describing people.
I gave my parents birthdates to a BaZi guy and he was able to tell all this stuff about them and their compatbility or lack thereof and it was pretty spot on. Shocked my brother because he thought I told the BaZi about them and I didn't say a thing besides the birthdate.
So this experience has led me to reevaluate astrology and wonder if there's something there. I did notice that Earth is in both my western astrology sign and my chinese astrology sign.
in western astro i have sag moon, Scorpio asc while in vedic i have a scorpio moon and libra rising.
Hi Everyone,
Can you tell me which location to pick in order to build any mundane chart at 0 degree Aries? Iβm guessing Greenwich. Am I Correct?
Hi there, Can someone tell me which node axis (true or mean) the rahu-ketu axis correspond to?
Is there 2 different rahu-ketu axis calculation like in western astrology?
Thank you in advance

Disclaimer, I'm not sure if the flair is correct. Traditional astrology seems to mean vedic in my head, but then theres a traditional & sidereal option (which I thought meant vedic) as well so I'm a little confused there.
To clarify, I'm a virgo in western but leo in vedic (sep 3rd.) I'm already a virgo rising so a leo would be way cooler. Of course it doesn't matter, I am who I am, but still...my soul feels a lot like a leo because it's hard for me to be comfortable places if I'm not the center of attention (in some regard, I don't need praising all the time or anything like that, just attention.) I have a really good friend who is late August and I feel like hes the same. A lot of other celebrities around that first decan I've noticed to be the same, outside of Keanu reeves. Clearly I'm trying to convince myself I'm a leo, aha. But I've wondered this about the pisces/aquarius cusp between the two astrologies as well. Any thoughts?
Not a seriously complicated question, but I wanted to ask the advanced astrologists since you will probably have a bigger sample size to work with. Thanks in advance!
I know the chart and placements are different - but are the actual interpretations different? Eg, Houses hve the same themes, signs have the same βpersonalitiesββ¦.
I've been indulging conversations with someone about astrology a little too much lately on the detailed birth charts i.e. not just general sign but chart based on a number of celestial positions.
I know I'm gonna get flamed for asking this here but some of the things this person said - who I met on tinder and had no prior knowledge of me (random sample) were a little too specifically uncanny. Or maybe it's just my unconcious biases... Idk.
Are there any / if any published and peer reviewed papers that look into randomised double blind analysis of either people reading these charts or behaviours and their correlation to their predicted behaviours based on birth chart zodiac.

Hi All,
My name is Rachel Floyd, and I am a Ph.D. candidate in Clinical Psychology from Duquesne University. I have received permission from your kind moderators to post here in the hopes that members of this forum might be interested in an opportunity to participate in a research study about the recent resurgence of astrologyβs popularity in modern western culture, particularly among millennial women. There is no monetary benefit for participating in this study but interview participants in similar research often enjoy their involvement and learn things about themselves in the process. Further, participantsβ voices will contribute to the understanding of a social phenomenon that is spoken of frequently in the media but underrepresented in academic literature.
In order to qualify for participation, you must:
Β· Identify as female.
Β· Be in the millennial age range of 21-40 by the time of the study.
Β· Raised in the United States or in an equivalently modern, westernized country such as Canada or Australia.
Β· Participate voluntarily.
Β· Have a minimum of two to three years of sustained, active interest in western astrology demonstrated by any of the following at least three times a week; checking birth chart horoscopes, reading natal astrology, consulting with an astrologer, exposure to astrology themed social media, and regular interaction with others similarly invested in astrology.
Β· Must be willing and able to participate in an audio-recorded in-person or virtual interview, with the possibility of one follow-up interview in the same format.
Β· Willing to read the written analysis of their interview data and provide written feedback
Β· Willing for the researcher to publicly present and/or publish an interpretation of the research interview, including verbatim excerpts from participantsβ descriptions. To the latter, participants will be assured that the descriptive data from which these excerpts will be taken are de-identified to ensure confidentiality.
If you are interested, know someone who might be, or would like to learn more, please donβt hesitate to contact me at floydr@duq.edu to set up a preliminary phone conversation. Note that agreement to be contacted or a request for more information does not obligate you to participate.
I look forward to hearing from you!

In my western chart I have Jupiter in Pisces in the 5th house which indicates that I may have lots of children but in Vedic astrology I have both Jupiter & Ketu in the 5th house. I have read that Ketu in the 5h is a really bad placement to have especially in regards to children/not being able to conceive or having problems during childbirth or that my child will not have good health. I also have Rahu in 11h which has problems relating to children. Are these things set in stone? How does it work if I have a good placement for the 5th house in western astrology but the total opposite in Vedic astrology? Which is more accurate?
I recently found out about my Vedic astrology chart and itβs very much different from the Western one: Western = Taurus β¬οΈ, Scorpio βοΈ, Aquarius Mars Vedic = Aries β¬οΈ, Libra βοΈ, Capricorn Mars. The rest of the planets remained in the same signs. I definitely resonated w some aspects of what Taurus ascendants seem to have, but Aries rising describes me a lot more bc of the excess energy I seem to have, impulsivity, and being impatient. Same with my mars, Iβve heard Aquarius mars are not as aggressive as I may be at times, tho that could just be chart aspects I have in the Western version. As for the rest of the changed planets or just in general, should I stick with the version that I resonate most? Or should I look at both for insight? Thank you!
I am new to astrology and mostly learning it through online resources. However, I have always been peripherally aware of astrology as I grew up in India and astrology was certainly a thing in my household while growing up - for example, dates for weddings and other big events were always picked using electional astrology. Similarly, synastry was considered for those in my extended family who had arranged marriages. All of this was based on the vedic system (because India). However, as I have started learning astrology, I have mostly gone the western way because the online resources are abundant and easier to access for this system. My decision has also been guided by the impression that ultimately, the two systems are complementary and will lead to similar insights.
However, it seems to me based on what I have read so far that western astrology does not have the concept of remdies - is that correct? Growing up, I used to hear things like "so and so is donating say, rice to the poor on every Saturday to placate an angry Saturn". I have no idea whether any of these remedies were ever successful for anyone but they certainly existed and were popular. Does western have an equivalent?
Both are different primarily due to the Tropical vs Sidereal system being used.
I personally follow Vedic Astrology. Find below some info regarding the differences from the indastro website which of course could be pro-vedic.
Astrology is an incomparable asset to assess the potential possibilities of our lives. Western Astrology is relatively new as compared to Vedic Astrology, as the latter has been practiced since thousands of years, having written documents in the Vedas as well.
The major difference between Vedic and Western astrology is that one uses the fixed zodiac while the other uses movable zodiac to decide the starting point of the zodiac. Western Astrology uses the tropical Zodiac, which considers earth to be the center and the celestial bodies to be revolving around it. It is based on the idea that the Sun comes back to the same point of vernal equinox post completion of its circle around earth (as it appears from earth). Vernal equinox is the celestial event during which the Sun is overhead the equator (the line that divides the earth into two equal parts). The vernal equinox is generally on March 22 each year when day and night are of equal length. According to Western Astrology, that is the point in time that dictates the first sign, Aries, further followed by the rest of the signs.
However, with reference to the fixed stars, vernal equinox moves westward opposite to the yearly motion of Sun at a rate of around 50.26 seconds of arc annually which is also called precession of the equinoxes or ayanamsa. This is because earthβs axis also rotates and completes one rotation in about 26000 years. Vedic Astrology also takes into account this slight shift in earthβs position, which has shifted the vernal equinox point of sidereal zodiac to about 25 degrees west from the 0 degrees vernal equinox of western system. Instead of tropical year, Ved shastra is based on Sidereal year which is the time taken by earth to revolve around Sun with respect to the fixed star Chitra, and this duration is apparently 20 minutes longer than the tropical year.
Due to this phenomenon, the Aries of Western Astrology keeps drifting away farther from the Aries point of Vedic Astrology at a rate of 1 degree every 72 years. At present, this difference has elevated to almost 24 degrees in past 2000 years. The last time when Aries of Western Astrology and Vedic Astrology were on the same plane was approximately 285 AD. The system of Astrology that uses the fixe

Been experimenting with vedic and western astrology for a while and my chart is somewhat different when I shift to Vedic. My sun moves from my 4th house to 5th house (when using whole signs) and that makes a lot more sense to me since having a 4th house sun always feels odd given the fact that I'm not super close to my family, nor is it an area of my interest. However, when I shift to Vedic, the signs just don't make any sense to me. I go from being a gemini rising to a Taurus rising. I do have a Taurus moon in Western astrology, so it's not like I don't relate to any Taurus qualities, but for the most part I am very Gemini, so it is unnerving to think of myself shifting from mutable air to fixed earth. I wanted to ask if there is a difference in the meaning of what each zodiac sign is when we shift systems since western astrology is based on the seasons, and sidereal is based on fixed stars so a Gemini being quick and flexible wouldn't necessarily make sense for Vedic since they don't see Gemini as the transition from spring to summer (similarly they don't see Taurus as holding spring down so I don't see why there would necessarily be a fixed or earthy quality to it?)
I'm interested in astrology more from a historical/cultural perspective, rather than practicing it myself.
Are there any good books that would give me insight into how astrology developed throughout history and how the 12 zodiac signs came to be associated with the traits they're associated with today?
Astrology is very fascinating to me and I'd like to incorporate it into fantasy worldbuilding projects, but I'd like to get a deeper understanding of it first.
I know about Chris Brennan's Hellenistic Astrology: The Study of Fate and Fortune, but I wanted to know if there's any other good resources for me out there.
Thanks!
in western astro i have sag moon, Scorpio asc while in vedic i have a scorpio moon and libra rising..
In Western astrology, we don't have Sun sign only, but also Moon sign, Venus sign, and other things.
