A list of puns related to "Vess"
I can see 96395-G5000 for the 2017-1019 model, but I specifically need the newer one. I'm asking because I want to alter the VESS sound in my car, and want to reverse engineer the CAN commands on the "spare" one on my desk to avoid accidentally bricking the one with the warranty in the car. Thanks!
Anyone know where I can find Vess soda in Springfield? I'm kind of surprised it's so hard to find here considering it's made 3 hours away.
Has anyone heard the backup sound (VESS) on the ioniq 5 for the US/CAN market?
Is it the same sound as the Kona, ioniq, Niro?
I've had a 2020 Niro EV EX since February and am very happy with the vehicle. The only big annoyance, shared by many, is the loud backup beeping. Back in the Spring the main solutions of disabling it were unplug the speaker under the grille or switch/remove the fuse for the VESS. I chose installing a switch on the fuse, but it also controls the battery cooling which bothers me as I sometimes (often?) forget to turn the switch back on when done driving. Since then I been reading about a solution of tapping into wires and adding a momentary switch that can be pressed after car starts that disables the VESS sounds.
It made me think about two questions with the solutions other than unplugging the speaker:
With a switch on the fuse, what are the risks related to having the battery cooling disabled? How often is the battery cooling used? I presume it comes on during DC fast charging and maybe driving while ambient temperatures are high. I only use Level 2 charging and I have never heard the battery cooling engage even during the Summer.
Installing the momentary switch, my understanding is that one press is required each time the car is started and I assume this doesn't impact the battery cooling function. If it is pressed a second time, does the VESS come back on?
I am currently leasing the car and wanted something easily reversed, hence the switched fuse solution as I figured even if there was some battery degradation it would be minimal and I'd be turning the car in after 3 years anyways. Now, I'm leaning towards buying out the lease as I'm happy with the car and I am in the black over it's current value so now I'm more open to a more permanent VESS solution.
Maybe some day Kia will issue an update that lowers the volume, but I'm not holding my breath.
What are people here doing with their VESS management?

For those interested in this topic, wanted to report on some success I found in using sound deadening material to reduce the intensity of the VESS. Long story short, I was able to achieve a meaningful reduction in volume, while still being quite audible for the purposes of making your presence known to nearby pedestrians.
Prior to the modification, if my wife was backing out of the garage, I could hear the BONG of the VESS super clearly from inside the house. After this modification, I could either not hear it at all, or it was so minimal I just didn't notice it.
According to an app I found on the Play Store, I was able to reduce the VESS volume by about 10-15 db. I can't say how accurate that is.
For the process, I'm not knowledgeable or familiar with bumper disassembly, so relied heavily on other folks' posts on various forums. I took original inspiration from here on the idea of how to reduce the volume, and from here on how to do the disassembly. On the 2nd link my main departure was removing the bolt and tabs/rivets/clips from both wheel wells, so that the entirety of the bumper could be removed. I also placed cardboard boxes underneath the bumper so that it didn't fall to the ground or strain the attached wires too much.
I attached two layers of this Amazon product to both the front and back side of the VESS box. The material was very easy to handle and easily cut with normal household scissors. It's definitely among the cheaper similar sheets of deadening material I could find, but reviews seem positive. Just hope it can survive AZ summers!
I didn't have the easiest time ever getting the bumper off, but overall it wasn't too bad. From start to finish it took me about an hour and a half. I'm sure anyone who has a half ounce of body work experience would be done faster.
And that's about it. I am now less mortified when backing out of my kid's daycare parking lot as other parents are walking by, but confident that the VESS still does it's intended job.
PS - if you are a clutz like me and accidentally step on and break a plastic rivet or two, I have [these](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FC

I was so tired of looking at my plain Jane BCW storage box and decided to custom wrap one for the hell of it as a little art project. I am a huge Liliana Vess fanboy so I defaulted to her for the first one :)
What Character from Magic would you put on your regular cardboard storage boxes to spice them up a bit?

Does the Ioniq 5 have a VESS like the Kona? I've yet to hear anyone that's driven the car mention it or the lack of it. I remember when the Kona came out that it was a huge topic of conversation.
We have tried to find the right fit for older games we have filmed that might not be right as a proper episode now that we have grown into ourselves as a channel. We have a bunch of old games that were shot before we filmed Rule 0 that we wanted to find a way to use still. Some of them are only 25 minute games, shorter then our current newer episodes. But that means some guests wouldnβt get a chance to have their episodes see the light.

This is more a rant than anything⦠I got my brand spanking new Kia E-Niro on Friday, and I love it⦠with the exception of the reversing VESS noise. For those not in the know, when reversing the E-Niro emits a loud exterior beeping.
Old models used to have a button to turn VESS off, but mine - itβs got a blanking plate instead. Sobs.
Anyway. Cue me leaving to get some shopping yesterday when my infant was napping and waking him up with the beeps. Faaaanntastic.
I just bought a Sorento PHEV and the reverse beeping is pretty annoying. I looked in the manual and I donβt see a way to turn this off. Anyone have a fix?
As we approach the end of C2 I wanted to touch on and maybe start a discussion about our poor dead Archmage of Antiquities. I had been thinking a fair bit about how this arc started and how excited I was about the prospects of this new journey into the unknown and the moment where it seemed to lose it's lustre.
When all the Nein had was inkling of a theory and the knowledge they were chasing Lucien, I was excited that Matt had given them a guiding hand in DeRogna. Potentially an ally or a parallel threat but certainly a source of information who could be relied on to push the group to make decisions. So queue my shock when she was murdered in the night!
This, in my opinion, was where this arc started to fall a little flat for me. I can only speculate on what Matt thought the Nein would do with her but I at least assumed they would revive her at some point. The reveal of how powerful Lucien could potentially be coupled with the presence of eyes on DeRogna seemed to spook the Nein and leave them once again with little information and only guesses to guide them.
We know how it played out, they forged ahead and tried to piece things together as they went. A little info from a speak with dead with Vess before eventually joining with the Tomb Takers and all the awkwardness that followed. So we can be as revisionist as like but I would have loved to see how different this arc may have gone with an alive Vess DeRogna, someone with more knowledge and potentially an entirely different plan for the Somnovum.
Did Matt shoot himself in the foot using Vess as fodder for Lucien?
Did he think the Nein would revive her?
Was the Nein's total distrust of a Cerberus Archmage warranted in this situation?
How different an experience would Aeor have been with Vess at their side, maybe not as a true ally but at least a blackmailed guide?
TLDR - Stuff went to shit when Vess DeRogna died (IMO), how differently would things have played out with the Nein revived her?

User Background:
Vess A. Merengue was a very successful ballerina during her young womanhood, one of the best. Success, however, carries a small parasite known as ambition. Ambition, when regulated, is even beneficial, but if left unchecked, it can plague a personβs mind. And that was the case with Vess: she always wanted more. The leading role, the most recognized plays, the best instructor, everything. Until one day, her legs quit. She woke up one morning and couldnβt move anything below the knee. Maddened, she cut off her legs and bought state-of-the-art prosthetics. Nowadays, she still exerts herself to the maximum, keeping her prosthetics a secret.
About Her:
Vess A. Merengue, as you could probably infer, is the type of person to sacrifice anything and everything that so much as poses a threat to her success. While she doesnβt actively seek people to take advantage of, she wouldnβt think twice before ditching someone she knows. Vess has an iron-clad will and a quick thought process, capable of making near-immediate choices on the run.
Appearance:
γSuavementeγ is a semi-humanoid stand, 1.75 cm in height. It wears an outfit most reminiscent of a Spanish Conquistador. It wears a black helmet with two white strands of fluff coming out the front and bending backwards. Its face is bone colored, with mostly humanoid features. It wears black polarized glasses with a white rim, and has small black tusks closing in onto its mouth.
γSuavementeγ wears a white, soft chest plate with a black heart in the center. Its has bronze-colored puffed sleeves that reach just above the elbow. At a similar distance down the elbow, the stand has black wristbands with spikes protruding towards its gloved hand. The stand also wears bronze-colored, renaissance-era trousers, falling down to the knee, and black, heeled boots with thin drapes. Finally, γSuavementeγ sports a long orange cape with white embroidery on the edges.
Ability: Beso al Alma (Kiss to the Soul)
When γSuavementeγ bites a target, it injects a potent venom on the bite mark. This venom causes an effect known as Kiss to the Soul. From the location of the bite, the targetβs skin will crystallize, the glasses shifting, moving and rotating in place. This is very painful to a target, especially if they focus strain or weight on that body part. If in contact with other organic tissue, the crystallization will spread onto that tissue as well. This means t

I donβt have the skills or desire to make a switch. I am willing to partially remove the bumper and unplug it if it doesnβt cause any problems.
Help please?
Wanted to share this with the folks here, user ENirogus came up with a way to wire a momentary switch to turn off VESS sound when needed without disconnecting the speaker or fiddling with the fuses. Wired this up a few weeks ago and it works like a charm! I love being able to turn off the fog horn when backing out of the garage at 5:30am, but then turn my spaceship noise back on once I've left the driveway. I've very little experience wiring things but found this totally doable as a novice.
In addition to the complete single-volume edition that was released, the first four volumes were also released as individual books, in both limited editions and regular hardcover releases.
I am trying to find out if the final two volumes will ever get similar releases, but have found no information yet.
I wondered if maybe someone here had heard something about this?
Thanks
Hereβs a link to a photo of the first four, if you are wondering what I am talking about. This photo is the limited edition version, but you can buy regular hardcovers online easily. The problem is, there are not many photos available to link to:
