We recently bought a house (we are from Canada) with the intention of doing à lot of renovations. We are both amateurs, but my husband have quite a lot of experience from previous homes and great contacts. We completly stripped the living room, dining room and kitchen to make a big open space. While tiring down a wall in the kitchen, it snowed vermiculitis dust.... which was strange as the previous owners declared only fiberglass insulation.... only to find eventually lots of it in some of the attic spaces (only the ones we had to pierce a wall to see), there was fiberglass insulation around the only attic trap....
First thing we do is testing, and it was positive for asbestos..... had bah anxiety about it, made a lot of research to convince myself we are not already dying from cancer....
Now, we don't want to leave it there. We will contact specialized contractors. However i would like to know what to expect. The vermiculitis isnt only in the attic, it spreaded in the walls. What is a contractor gonna do after sucking the vermiculitis in a appropriate vacuum? Once it is done, how do they determinate the air is safe to breath? We have a forced-air furnace which mean the air all around the house is already contaminated ?
My husband wants to do as much as possible by ourselves (we have n95 and the "purple pompom " mask, access to disposable clothing). We however are unsure about how to be sure the air is clean after we take out everything and seal the entrances.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
