... keep reading on reddit β‘So I'm planning to return my beloved Utrecht through the end of this year after leaving the Netherlands in October 2017. That almost makes 5 years of absence. I visited for a few times in between as a tourist, but not in the last 2 years.
I see that many things have changed in Utrecht when I'm in another country. I can catch some of the changes, but I'm curious about what change will surprise me. Will I miss the Utrecht of the year I lived in? Or will I welcome and embrace the changes? I think it will be both as far as I could catch.
What has changed in Utrecht from October 2017 and what is planned to change until the end of 2022?
Let me list what I know:
I thought I knew more changes, but that's it for now I guess.
Let's hear from you, what changes should I expect in the city?
Hello everybody! I'm planning a two-month summer vacation where one of the months will be for biking. I wrote in this post mentioned that I will be going to Portugal too, but I believe stopping at Barcelona is the easiest to accomplish within a month of biking - but prove me wrong if Portugal is achievable within a month for a newbie!
Can you guys help me out with finding bike panniers that can help me carry a minimal amount of clothes, a towel and documents and similar? Also as I suspect this will be a super hot period I plan on biking quite a lot without a shirt, is wearing a backpack off the record or is it doable? I don't mind keeping everything in panniers but a backpack could be handy. Alternatively can I store a backpack in one of the panniers?
I'd also need a new bike probably. Shit I didn't think of this, but that will also cost quite some money. Any good tips on a sturdy bike that will take me over 1600 km without being too expensive? Any must-have gear & equipment? And just so it's clear, I will not be sleeping in tents, so I won't need this for the panniers.
Furthermore is there anything else I should know? This is a big leap for me as my largest biking-only trip was a total of 60 km for 4 hours in a single day, but I feel ready. I know I should train before the trip and I plan on doing extensive biking and running to prepare myself.
I have recently moved to Utrecht from another country and I'd like to buy a piano to keep practicing even in the Netherlands.
I have noticed, with no surprise, that people are way quiter than in my country. That's a good plus, but how do people can practice instruments in the Netherlands? I don't want to bother people with my piano.
I have two choices:
An upright piano, this one is lauder but it has a way to make the sound more "round" and "soft" but still you can hear it.
An electric piano, this one is worse for me since I won't be practice as efficiently as with an upright piano, but it has the possibility to use headphones.
So summirizing the upright piano is better for my practice but a bit louder than the electric piano which is less good for my practice.
Me and my girlfriend will both practice (I'd say in total 2 or 3 hours everyday), but probably we will work until 5-6 pm. So the practice would go on from 6 to 8 or 6 to 9.
What should I do? Should I ask my neighbour and the people above me if it's fine? How should I ask them? How do you see these sort of things?
Hi all,
I've been using too good to go in NL for 1 month having only positive experiences...
Today I wanted to try Starbucks and in the bag there were only sandwiches expired 2 days ago!
I opened one of them and, to be honest, it did not smell good so I decided to not eat them...
Pastry was a simple donut and it was good.
Was I unlucky or Starbucks does this often in Utrecht?

... keep reading on reddit β‘Hoi! Iβm moving to your beautiful city next Monday. Do you have any advice for a newcomer? Like good places to shop (groceries, house cleaning supplies, daily basis stuff), places to visit, cellphone companies (according to some reviews Vodafone is the best option, do you agree?). Things I should or shouldnβt do, or pretty much any advice whatsoever that you can think of.
Thanks in advance!
I just spoke with someone from the ASOT events team via email. I asked them about the chances of the event in Utrecht actually happening and whether theyβd advise canceling travel plans at this point. I thought it was only fair I share this with the ASOT community since I know a lot of you are in the same boat I am when it comes to international travel.

βSo far, the event is still going through, but the current situation in the Netherlands is quite bad, so chances are that the event will be canceled. Please keep an eye on your email and our socials in order to stay up to date about this. In that case, you will be able to refund your tickets once again.
Based on the current situation in which events arenβt allowed, and what I've heard so far within the company is that chances are very real that the event will not go through. I would like to advise you to try to refund your plans in order to avoid a late disappointment. I am sorry for the inconvenience.β

So there you have it. No surprise really, but it sucks nonetheless. Thereβs still a chance, as Lloyd would say, but itβs not looking good. Stay well, trance fam!
