A list of puns related to "Tzedakah"
So I own a little tzedakah box where I put every Friday before lightning the candle a note.
But it is not the 10% of my income, it is only small money that I put for symbol. so I made today so the bank takes after my pay a part of it to put in a special account.
I am a student, so I am remplacent at work thus having unstable hours, therefore I gave a little more just in case I get payed more the next month βΧΧ’ΧΧ¨Χͺ ΧΧ©Χ.
This money will be in a special place in my bank account, can I just send it in June or do I have to do it every month? Iβd prefer make it once every six-twelve month. What is recommended?
Also do I have to put a blessing every time the money gets placed in the other accounts?
How do you people do?
I've just finish reading the manhwa chapter 102 and I'm just too curious of what's going to happen to Grid and the Tzedakah Guild (especially Jishuka). So, can someone who read the novel spoil it for me pls....
I've tried numerous times to pronounce it but they have all ended horribly, can anyone help me?
Iβm not a mother yet, and it wonβt happen until a long time, but I often find myself wondering about my theoretical educational principles. Just note that itβs only a tiny part of my thoughts on the matter, and I hope it doesnβt seem stupid. Also, I donβt reduce the meaning of tzedakah or even the fact of giving to what Iβm going to say.
Anyway, do you think it would be good for a child to be taught to always give the money they found on the street for tzedakah ? Sure, itβs not stolen, but that doesnβt make it rightfully theirs. And I wouldnβt want them to associate the idea of « good deedΒ Β» with something that literally takes nothing from them. Even if, again, I would include tzedakah in tons of other situations.
Being more about the « resultsΒ Β», whenever I myself am in this situation, I donβt even think about it. But Iβm an adult, not someone who has to be guided in the best way in order to build what will be the foundations of their spirituality and theirselves.
What do you guys think would have happened if Jishuka and the other Retainers actually ended their relationship with Grid as showed in Ch. 102 of the manhwa, without joining his guild? How would Grid's behavior throughout the LN change?
Does entrepreneurship/business advice count as tzedakah?
Perhaps if one canβt give seed capital?
Or is advice never a form of tzedakah?
One could perhaps argue that advice and mentorship play a big role, no?
I am pretty sure there's a good (fairly recent) book that covers this and similar topics, but I don't have access to it right now. SO!
Is there any issue with something like the following:
Taking a $20 bill from my wallet, saying "this is for tzedaka," and putting it in the pushke.
Later, taking the $20 out of the box, depositing that $20 in my bank account, and electronically donating $20 to a Jewish charity [let's assume the charity qualifies as a tzedakah recipient].
In that case: is the $20 I donated the same money I designated for tzedakah? Does it matter? Am I just confusing this whole thing with the shekalim for the Temple and none of it applies here at all?
Just recently noticed that the word βTzedakahβ is a Hebrew word for righteousness. So, they were the guild of righteousness, that was taken over by greed. Anyone think that this narrative thought is intentional? Or, perhaps it was a coincidence?
Iβve recently restarted reading the LN, and a question popped up in my head again. Why did the guild decide to call itself this way? There isnβt any mention of Judaism or anything, so Iβm mostly curious if the author used the word for its meaning or something else?
For those who are unaware, the Rambam had 8 levels of charity with each greater than the next.
Hello all.
I would like to start giving tzedakah on a regular basis, and I have a few questions in that regard. I don't make that much money, but my understanding is that 10 percent of my income is going towards tzedakah? So 10 percent of every paycheck? or whatever I'm able to give?
Also, am I giving to an individual, an organization, synagogues, schools, hospitals etc.? Do you beautiful people have any suggestions as to which groups to give to?
My father passed away a few days after Chanukah, I have no brothers*. I moved out of his house about a year before he passed, I am trying to make a Tzedakah box in my house.
Can I use any jar/empty can? Or should it be made of a certain material with certain markings?
Once it is full, can I pocket the money and write a check, to a organization of my choosing**? Or does it have to be THAT money sent?
** Can I truly pick any charity, even if I have bias towards it?, For example, donating money to the alumi fund of my college, shul, etc.
I'm having trouble making ends meet right now and I was trying to find something to hold me over until I can get my next job. I'm really nervous about asking. I'm also stressed out and upset about my situation. I've been going to this shul for a little over a year . I don't want to feel like a burden or anything.
I was re-reading the manhwa and found out the the Tzedakah Guild were hostile to the Fire Dragon Trauka
Does anyone know why
I remember that there should be around 20 members, the wiki says 22. Yet if you look at the roster there are like 12+ grid, since the newcomers except toon all left.
I am asking because I want to know if there are about 8 completely unnamed high rankers that I don't know about. I also think one guy (jeep?) Never showed up again.
So... are there ghost members?
I'm not Jewish, but I've always had some questions about what counts as true altruism. Since charity is such an important tenant of your religion I thought I'd ask here.
Does enjoying giving to charity make it not truly altruistic? Like does that mean I'm doing it for the warm fuzzy feeling instead of doing it to be charitable? For example, if I donated a bench to a park, noticed an elderly couple sitting there and was proud that I provided them a place to sit and enjoy being outside, have I done it more for me than them?
In the same vein, does claiming charitable donations on taxes undo them? Or since it's so hard it give a private donation with a credit card, does that make the point moot anyway?
This is the semi-monthly, somewhat delayed sticky thread for highlighting, advertising, showcasing Jewish causes you think deserving of support. It can be an ongoing campaign, it can be a friend's fundraiser, or it can simply be an existing charity you think deserves funds. Feel free to discuss why you think the cause deserves support. (<-- recommended)
Please keep top level comments charities/causes only. Thread will be in contest mode.
