A list of puns related to "Tvontario"
I remember seeing a show that had to do with a group of kids who had their own club & clubhouse. I think the show taught kids about problem solving. The show had a science fiction twist to it in that one of the kids was an alien from outer space, that the clubhouse was actually the alien kids spaceship & that the alien kid couldn't leave the clubhouse\spaceship otherwise he would die. I remember that, in my area, the PBS station that aired the show (KMOS-TV, Ch. 6 in Sedalia\Warrensburg, MO.) aired it on an infrequent basis during its "Instructional Television" block, during the school year. Also it aired alongside other E\I shows like "All Fit with Slim Goodbody", "Read All About It!" & "The Magic Library".
I remember seeing some instructional\educational TV shows being shown in the Mornings & Afternoons on my local PBS stations (KMOS-TV, Ch. 6 in Sedalia\Warrensburg, MO & KCPT-TV, Ch. 19 in Kansas City, MO.). These shows were usually short, around 15 minutes in length (Although some were 30 minutes as well.) & ran between 9AM to 3PM during the school year. These shows were supposed to be recorded by teachers & shown in school classrooms. One thing that I remember is that while some of the instructional\educational TV shows were produced in the US (By other PBS stations & the Agency for Instructional Television, later changed to Technology (AIT), most of these TV shows were produced in Canada, mostly by TVOntario). The shows that I remember, or have been able to figure out after doing some of my own research, were All Fit with Slim Goodbody, Read All About It!, Take A Look, Adios!, The Magic Library, Harriet's Magic Hats, The Write Channel & What's in the News. While I was able to, at least, remember most of those shows, there are a few other shows that I don't remember the titles to. From what I remember, one show had to do with a group of kids that had their own clubhouse & that one of the kids was an alien that lived inside the clubhouse, which was also the alien kids spaceship. Another show had a female character that was a fairy who wore a pink dress & had, I think, a magic wand, as well as a talking teddy bear. I also remember seeing a CNN produced newscast that was, I think, supposed to be shown in classes that were teaching current events. I would like to know what the names of these other shows are?
(I tried posting this on /r/Toronto, but apparently it was auto-removed for looking like a question. Oh well.)
I get the impression that there's quite a few fans out there of TVOntario's old original programming from around 30-40 years ago β "Today's Special", "Harriet's Magic Hats", "Dear Aunt Agnes", glorious "Telefrancais", that sort of thing. Some of this old programming is easy to find β you'll have no trouble finding the full run of "Read All About It!".
Other shows are not so readily retrieved. One such program is "Artscape", in which two children learn about art while trying to escape a whimsical, low-production-budget fantasy land with the assistance of a sentient museum audio guide. I retain fragmented memories of watching this show that I can scarcely hope to put into proper context.
But all is not lost! The University of Toronto library just so happens to have this show on VHS, and I've resolved to put my mind at ease by paying a visit early Friday afternoon and watching it in its entirety. Apparently it's only about two hours total.
I know it's of rather niche appeal and it's not a convenient time of day, but I thought I'd ask if there might be anyone here interested in joining me? We can coordinate by private message.
Back when I was still in elementary school, there was a show I remember watching; it aired on TVO, as that's the only channel we were allowed to watch. I remember it took place in this castle, there was a floating pink cube, and it was hosted by a guy that looked like the Master from classic Doctor Who (greying hair, moustache and goatee). It often dealt with mathematics, and I distinctly remember it was where I first learned what a googol was.
It was a TVO (TVOntario) educational film series called Artscape shown to me in elementary school in the southeastern United States, where I still live.
I've been hunting for the show for a long time and finally found the name out through TOMT a few months ago. Can anyone find any footage of it or old video tapes? I've seen that some libraries across the country have copies, but I don't have a way to get them. I've also emailed TVO, and they keep copies and their archives but won't release them or sell them for some sort of licensing reasons.
The only information I've found on the show has been here: http://www.rickstv.com/tvo/feedback2006.html
I'm hoping some of you internet sleuths can do a better job than me. I don't know where else to look.
Thank you to anyone that helps out!!!
I remember seeing a TV show in the 90's called Look Up!. It featured Robot (a person dressed as a robot who acted hyperlogical in every situation) and Imagination (an animated pink blob that taught Robot about stuff).
I did some googling, and found that it was produced by TVOntario, but I'm struggling to find video of it. Can someone help me find episodes or clips of it online? I'm trying to share this distinctly obscure part of my childhood with my wife.
This may have been a miniseries, or a movie split up into multiple episodes. Mid to late-80s, likely aired on TVOntario, but possibly on a CBC affiliate station. The good characters were children who were trying to stop the plotting of an evil old man. At one point the children are shrunk down to the size of mice (or possibly turned into mice) and watch from a crack in the wall as the evil man speaks aloud about his plans while moving his finger slowly back and forth through a candle's flame. The children seek the help of a character who is something like "the master of the hunt". He might have worn antlers on his head, and had a pack of wolves or deer that responded to his call. I don't recall any specific tie to Christmas, but the show is intertwined with the Christmas season in my head, and I can't help but think there was some theme of searching for the Christmas spirit. I hope I didn't just dream all this back in 1987.

Go post NSFW jokes somewhere else. If I can't tell my kids this joke, then it is not a DAD JOKE.
If you feel it's appropriate to share NSFW jokes with your kids, that's on you. But a real, true dad joke should work for anyone's kid.
Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???
Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.
Thank you,
A Dad.
So far nobody has given me a straight answer
I am currently in the hospital. I had a back operation yesterday. The surgical nurse came in my room and started asking questions about my back. She asked me if I had any falls during the last year. I responded just one. It was after summer.
She laughed and said in 20 years of doing this she never was told that joke.
..... Will get a reward.

They also play roles in Lord of the Rings.
I guess that makes them the Tolkien white guys.
