A list of puns related to "Tire Bead"
Hi everyone,
I got a flat on my commuter bike last week. I fixed it, but then it went flat again, almost immediately. I assume I either pinched the tube or there was still something in the tire that I missed. But now that I look it appears the bead of the tire is slightly deformed. Itβs a commuter bike with pretty fat tires so Iβm not sure if this is an issue or not. It held air just fine and looked fine until I rode it.
Any idea if a slightly deformed bead would really make a difference?
Tonight I took my tubeless off my Mavic cosmics, but it was insanley difficult. I assumed this was because the sealant had done too good a job so once I'd managed to get em off I cleaned everything. I put them back on and repumped, and it was then I realised my new sealant wouldn't pipe through the valve, so tried to break the seal to pour directly into the tire, and it was more bed on than before and tried everything to get them off but they aren't budging. If anyone has any tips for how to remove these tricky tires would be great. I tried using a vice grips, standing on the tire and levering it off, and of course using my fingers.
I have gp5000TL tires and these things are a bitch to get seated. I have one side seated and 90% of the the other side seated. To get that last 10% over the rim you need a tire lever. Every time I lever the bead over, that 10% slides around the rim. I am constantly chasing this last 10% around the rim.
I trimmed back the foam insert a bit and it seemed to help a little, but nope. Tire squirted right off the bead when I tightened it down. I removed the foam insert to test, same issue. I'm pretty sure this is just a defect, but what can I do to make it work?
I'm thinking about putting a small lip of duct tape around the rubber edge/inside of the tire bead to extend it a bit and shrink it up. Super glue won't work because there's no way it will bind to a rubber tire and an aluminum rim... not sure what to do here.
And yes, ive watched many videos on how to mount these, it is my first time. The paperclip method, etc... does not help. I can get it centered perfectly, it's just that the tire hole itself is slightly oversized and I've got to press the tire in to shrink it as I'm tightening.... then it pops out at the end.
I wont go into how frustrated I was trying to get this thing to mount. Yowzer.
Thanks in advance everyone, this community has been a huge help to many first timers like me!
Crawl on!
Do I need tire sealant? And if I do, do I need to remove the valve stem to get it in
