A list of puns related to "Synechia"
Iβm 37/M was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in 2010 at 26. I was put on Prednisone, oral methotrexate and Enbrel. EDIT: should add my initial flare up was very aggressive, elbow could not bend more than inch or 2. Sausage toes in left foot. Both feet and ankles swollen. Incredible pain if I accidentally tried to bend my left toes. I have and had relatively mild inverse psoriasis. I am HLA B27+
I tapered off all drugs except Enbrel which I took for roughly 3 years and have been off it since 2012/2013. Almost 10 years no medication.
I experience some skin psoriasis, mostly in my ear canals, but have no major arthritic symptoms.
Last month I thought I had pink eye, went to the ER, said it was a scratched cornea, woke up the next day with blurry vision and pain. Went to ophthalmologist who diagnosed me with uveitis with synachiae. Later googling myself I found a connection between HLA B27 and eye problems. I do not wear classes or contacts.
After a couple days the swelling went down and synachiae released and I continued the therapy; however I started getting mild light flashes and once the uveitis went down the opthalmologist noticed some optic nerve swelling.
I was referred to a Neuro opthalmologist, who started me on 40mg prednisone while continuing the drops stating HLA B27 and auto immune can all be related. I have a brain and orbit MRI scheduled for today to hopefully rule out a brain tumor or anything worse but I am really trying not to panic every minute here. My vision has returned other than some issues with light from having my eye dialated constantly from medication, and they have indicated my tests for peripheral and other visions tests look good.
During these last weeks I also got sick (maybe Covid?) and I think I have a light ringing in my ears which started after the prednisone and onset of sickness.
Has anyone had similar eye problems with optic neuritis ? I should probably find a new rheumatologist - assuming my MRI comes back clear, which is terrifying me - since I have moved states since my last treatment.
A couple of months ago my dog fell down the stairs and got a little bruised around his eye and it seemed to be hurting him. My vet took a look and said his pupil looks like something she has never seen in 10 years of practice... basically "his pupil looks like a kidney bean". She treated the redness of the sclera with steroid drops and we tried atropine for a week as well. She consulted other vets and reported that he has synechia and it might go away on its own eventually.
Now his eye is still sometimes a bit redder than the other one but otherwise the same. The pupil shape is unchanged but he doesn't seem bothered. My vet basically tossed up her hands and said "we'll see..."
Has anyone dealt with this issue before? Is it likely his long term vision or eye health could be affected? Anything I should watch out for?
Breed: miniature poodle Age: 6 Weight: 21 lb Neutered Location: mid Atlantic US Clinical signs: mishapen pupil, eye redness Duration: 2 months
Hi everyone,
I just noticed this strange thing tonight-- my cats pupil (right eye) is misshapen-- the iris is almost "bleeding"/"leaking" into the pupil. I Googled it and it appears to be synechia[e], which can be caused by inflammation to the eye. See link below:
https://www.charlestonvrc.com/synechiae-cats#:~:text=Synechiae%20are%20adhesions%20between%20the,in%20both%20dogs%20and%20cats.
This eye has had issues for a few weeks which prompted a visit to the vet opthalmologist. They said she likely "only" has eye herpes, and lacks a tapetum in this eye -- a "normal abnormality." Also, her optic nerve in this eye is very small.
Her behavior: Seems totally fine. The only unusual thing about her right now is the issues with her right eye, and some mild to low-moderate chin acne (possibly caused the herpes flare-up? She's never had one before though, despite the fact that in 2020 she was very sick with a mysterious GI infection thing (cholangiohepatitis, pancreatitis, etc.) for over half the year. Thousands of dollars in vet bills and some of the most stressful days of my life later, she's more or less back to normal. Thank goodness for vet health insurance.).
My question: Is this an emergency?? I love my cat more than anything and I really don't want to make any mistakes here. She gets really stressed out from the vet though, so I don't want to go unless it's truly necessary.
Site note re the tapetum: Oddly, however, a photo I took 4-5 years ago where.i accidentally used the flash shows two shiny eyes-- in other words, she likely USED to have a tapetum in this eye.
Hi! I discovered this subreddit when looking for some information on a somewhat uncommon issue I (may?) have developed.
A bit of medical history: I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks in Oct. 2018, followed by a suction D&C. I had a second miscarriage at 7 weeks in March 2019, followed by a D&C while under anesthesia, but they did not get all the tissue, so it was followed by a second suction D&C a couple weeks later. I developed scarring and had a saline sonogram, followed by a hysteroscopy, followed by another saline sonogram, during which the doctor said I was all clear (fall 2019). I am now about 14 weeks pregnant.
During my NT ultrasound earlier this week, the doctor performing the scan said that they would need to "keep an eye on [my] uterine synechiae to make sure it's not a problem."
I was like, "My what now?"
Apparently, I still have some amount of scarring (or it grew back) and the placenta appears to have attached to it. I asked the doctor what that meant and she was very evasive and just said that it could turn into nothing (if the scarring and the placenta separate as my uterus grows) or it could mean I need more monitoring in my third trimester.
Obviously, I went home and googled it and things sound pretty dire. If the scar and the placenta grow apart, as happens in the majority of cases, things should be fine. If they remain attached, it seems... not good.
So I was wondering if anyone here had this kind of issue early in their pregnancy and how things turned out. I searched reddit and came back with only two threads. I think this issue is uncommon enough that I'm not going to find anything on a general pregnancy subreddit, but I figured since Asherman's is linked to infertility, if anyone has gone through this, I would probably find them here.
Earlier this week I had my anatomy scan. I've been having a pretty unicorn pregnancy so I should not have been nervous but I was very anxious. Baby is perfect and measuring exactly on track. While waiting for the Doctor to come in I told my husband I was worried that I had placenta previa because they were looking at my lower abdomen for a long time and I couldn't really tell what the tech was looking at. When the Maternal Fetal Medicine came in to talk about results she mentioned two synechiae, or bands of scar tissue, at the top and bottom of my uterus.
TW: Miscarriage
The MFM asked if I had had a D&C or other uterine surgery, and I told her yes I had a miscarriage earlier this year. This scaring is a complication from that procedure, also known as Asherman's Syndrome. The MFM acted like it wasn't that big of a deal. They are bringing me in for another scan in 9 weeks to check babies growth, since apparently it can sometimes cause growth restrictions, and probably another ultrasound 3-4 weeks before delivery to make sure that the band at the bottom of my uterus isn't blocking babies exit, and if so schedule a c-section. After the Dr left I immediately started crying. My husband was very sweet, and reassured me that it is not a big deal and baby is and is very likely to be healthy and happy. It just sucks that my never ending "missed" miscarriage, where we tried to wait for weeks for it to start naturally, and go through two doses of medication before resulting in the D&C, is still causing problems.
Of course after the appointment I furiously started googling. Mostly information tells me that generally it is benign and doesn't cause complications. However, a recent study does have me a bit worried, "Women with uterine synechiae were significantly more likely to have placental abruption (2.1% compared with 0.6%), preterm premature rupture of membranes (PROM) (5.5% compared with 2.3%), and cesarean delivery for malpresentation (5.1% compared with 3.0%)." https://journals.lww.com/greenjournal/fulltext/2012/04000/Uterine_Synechiae_and_Pregnancy_Complications.17.aspx Though these percentages are still very small, it still stresses me out how much of an increase it is vs a complication free pregnancy. I'm currently with a Midwife practice and it sounds like this isn't enough of a complication to be transferred to an OB, but I gue

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
The nurse asked the rabbit, βwhat is your blood type?β
βI am probably a type Oβ said the rabbit.
The doctor says it terminal.
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat

We told her she can lean on us for support. Although, we are going to have to change her driver's license, her height is going down by a foot. I don't want to go too far out on a limb here but it better not be a hack job.
Ants donβt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.

Hi There~
I have truly appreciated people posting their experiences as I have enjoyed reading them in preparation for my PRK Procedure, Wanted to also provide my experience with PRK now that I have had the procedure. Hope this is helpful to those considering it. Overall I consider my experience quite positive, and am happy I went forward with PRK.
About me and my peepers:
I am 44 years old. Have been wearing glasses/contacts since I was 6. Have a contact lens intolerance (IE I am allergic to contacts). So after years of miserable attempts at wearing them (tried hard contacts, dailies etc), I have primarily been wearing glasses for the past 15 years.
My vision was -5 with a 1.5 astigmatism in my right, and -3 with a 1.00 astigmatism in my left eye. I have also started presbyopia, and my glasses and contacts reflected a prescription of -3 in my left eye, and -4 in my right.
About the Procedure
Went in for a Lasik Consult back in October, and was told I would be eligible for PRK and not Lasik due to the shape of my eyes. The doctor felt that PRK was a better procedure in the long run for me. I have to say I didn't have any other consultations, because when I did my research I felt that this doctor was one of the top eye surgeons in Chicago. I also was referred to him from both my eye doctor and several friends who went to him and had successful eye surgeries. Ultimately I felt good with his proposed direction and signed up to get my surgery done on December 22nd.
I have a posterior Synechia which alters the shape of my pupil in my left eye, therefore I had Custom PRK in my Right eye and Standard PRK in my left. I didn't feel any difference during the procedure between the two eyes. The surgeon explained it as different programming, same process: Removal of Epithelium with a Brush instrument, layering of the cornea, flushed my eye, placed the bandage contact lens, and then did the other eye the same way. They gave me a Valium before hand, and I felt no pain during the procedure. I was super nervous, so the Valium helped to relax me. Procedure was no more than 10 minutes. But I was at the facility for about 2+ hours taking measurements etc.
Lastly because I am over 40 so I did have the surgeon do a monovision. Fully healed goal is 0.0 (20/20) for distance in my left eye, and .5 (20/40) for reading in my right eye. My glasses and contacts have been set for mono-vision now for several years, and it works very well for me. M
