A list of puns related to "Strafe"
And why does a fucking tree branch zero out my lock on when I can see 99% of an enemy aircraft except the part the tree branch is covering....
BF4 was sooooo much better at this shit.

With inertia being the hot topic of the patch I decided to do a comparison of strafe inertia with a few tactical shooters I have on my PC - Squad, Hell Let Loose and Zero Hour.
I put a keypress indicator on screen just as visual aid of when the actual change in direction is initiaded and measure the time I start moving in the opposite direction (from that point of input change).
^(Note: I'm using Resolve's timestamp function and it subdivides seconds into 60 frames (as per the recording framerate))
In summary:
A few caveats and observations that didn't end up in the video:
Edit: More testing over here: https://www.reddit.com/r/EscapefromTarkov/comments/rgf01m/more_inertia_testing_its_a_bit_broken/
We should all know by now strafes are high cost with low yield, right? How bad though (asked no one). Well I did the math.
Strafe is 150 munitions.
Artillery costs 3 munitions per HE.
1 solo player firing artillery AT MOST takes 8s per round.
So Commanders, you have the choice.
1 artillery player can have 50 rounds and fire a non stop barrage for just over 6.5 minutes.
OR
You can make a plane go BRRRRRR for 3s.
TLDR, stop randomly strafing things if you have half decent arti players.
Ive watched a million tutorials, practiced a ton, and no matter what I do if im full running and counter strafe i keep my momentum for just a split second
Hello! When watching on youtube they say that if you are walking left (pressing down the "A" key on your keyboard) you need to release the the "A" key and press "D" fast when you want to stop and shoot someone.
I wonder if you could instead of releasing the "A" key keep holding it and then at the same time press and hold the "D" key when you want to stay still?
Hey, so I'm learning how to tap strafe and everyone says you should use A or D and airstrafe while doing a tap strafe. However I've noticed you can tap strafe without airstrafing, is there a reason for air strafing while tap strafing?
I know we have a handful on the Xbox but their scope is immensely limited compared to the total animation overhauls we do have such as Vanargand and Leviathan. If there is one out there like those mods then would there be a possibility for those to be ported or to request from the Mod Author of Vanargand and Leviathan to consider the creation of one?
I've played this game since release and the one thing I cannot figure out is how to move like these guys. It's like they have athlete implant effects with out the implant and no Penalty to ads speed reduction. I'm at 160+ fps at average using .75 weapons and it's still like I'm half the speed the move.. it's almost as if they are rubber banding .
If I could move like this I would die half as much while engaging this can't be hipfire because they are landing just as much as head shots at me from a good distance. It's not just one person it's quiet a few good people who move like this.
Please tell me at least that I'm not crazy if you don't want to share the secret so I don't rip my hair out The direction changes they do are so quick with AD strafe where the character model doesn't slow down when changing direction it's instant
I've historically run strafe to cover more ground and escape supers, but struggle against Hunters who panic-jump in CQC (Can't match their height and become an easy pick)
Yesterday I realised how much height Catapult gives you in a short time, which helps compete with Hunters in CQC fights. However, it has gotten me killed when running from sniper glints or supers, in scenarios I'd easily survive with Strafe.
Thoughts? Is there a meta pick, or just pros and cons?
It's a small movement tech, but it can make a difference when you're trying to dodge projectiles and there is really no reason to not do it.
Some people have seen me do it in wars or OPR so here's the trick: if you press S for a step when strafing sideways before you change directions, you can avoid the sliding animation when you change directions. You can make it even cleaner with a camera movement, so if you're strafing to the right, flick your camera to the right as you tap S then back to neutral before you tap to start left, that way your back step is in the direction you want to start moving. It's much quicker then sliding if you do it correctly.
Here's a video of the difference, it's not massive but it looks a lot more... sharp(?) from an enemies perspective, due to what I assume is low tick rate of the servers. You basically shimmy a bit and change directions almost in 1 frame sometimes. https://streamable.com/2xcjvr
In the video, first it's normal strafing, then just pressing the S key. Then normal again, then using the camera flick.
Anyway it involves animations and might be used to do something other then left click and Scream/Ice Spike so I assume it'll get listed as a bug and removed, but have fun.
I have been trying to get better at the game and want to know what style I should use when being in a battle. I have seen gameplay in each technique but I still can't make up my mind. If you have any other techniques I would love to see them.
Seems like a... strange design design decision to me.
EDIT: the speed increase is also applied when in combat.
It has a steep learning curve, I was doing everything under the sun to try and figure it out. Finally did and itβs not that complicated.
Use your hands as the βwingsβ, theyβre the only thing that matters for speed. Tilt hands down to pick up speed, tilt hands up to hover in place. Tilt your arms up and down to go either left or right.
