A list of puns related to "Static Ports"
I've hit the boundaries of my network knowledge...help?
I can't hang on to my home static IP for my mail server any more. My brilliant plan was to get a Vultr instance of pfsense, set up a site-to-site VPN, and forward SMTP from there through the tunnel to my on-prem mail server. But I can't get it to work.
I have the VPN set up and working. I have the Vultr WAN IP, a LAN interface on an RFC1918 address that I can reach the pfsense management page on, and the VPN interface back to my on-prem pfsense OpenVPN server. I am testing out with https to my web server, and can see the traffic passed by the firewall, but the page won't load. Traceroute from the Vultr WAN doesn't work, but works from the LAN. NAT is set up directly from the Vultr WAN to the server IP.
ideas?? Thanks!!
if this works it's a great way to get a static IP for cheap while still hosting things on-prem, which is my goal.
Hi all,
Iβve got a Synology DS920+ in my house thatβs connected to an unmanaged ethernet switch. I understand that in order to use link aggregation, a managed switch is required.
While Iβm not aggressively trying to avoid purchasing a managed switch, as I think they are priced reasonably, I just had this βshower thoughtβ and was wondering if the setup described below would provide any benefit over my current setup of simply connecting the DS920+ to the switch with a single ethernet cable.
While I have a handful of devices that will connect to the NAS, there are really only 2 desktop computers (sometimes used simultaneously by 2 different people) that I really care about getting max speed with (most of the other devices are connecting to the NAS via wifi anyways).
So with that in mind, I was wondering if I set the static IP of ethernet port #1 of the DS920+ to, say, 192.168.0.2 and ethernet port #2 to 192.168.0.3, connect both of those ports to my unmanaged ethernet switch...
β¦if I connected to the NAS from computer #1 by entering 192.168.0.2 into my browser, but then connected computer #2 to the NAS by entering 192.168.0.3, would I basically be able to get a theoretical 1gbps to the NAS with both computers simultaneously (assuming no other bottlenecks like HDD read/write speeds of the NAS itself, etc.)?
That is to say, would I effectively be able to achieve a βpseudo link aggregationβ in terms of max theoretical speed in a scenario where those two desktop PCs are the only two devices connected to the NAS? I understand that βrealβ/βproperβ link aggregation will have benefits as more than two devices are connected simultaneously, and have failover support etc.
To be clear, I understand that it will never be as good as proper link aggregation done with a managed switch. I just want to know whether it will be better than my current setup of simply not using ethernet port #2 whatsoever on my DS920+.
Thanks!
Hi all, this is another confused port forwarding question.
Iβve managed to set up port forwarding easily with my other miners but Iβve recently changed the WIFI to Hyperoptic and realised that I need a static IP (at a cost of Β£5 per month) to open the ports.
To the best of my knowledge i have now done this but the hotspot is still saying offline or relayed and telling my the ports are not open.
Can anyone with specific Hyperoptic experience lend a hand in an βidiots guideβ way to tell me how I do this now Iβve got a static IP? Do I need to enable something to do with the static IP or should it just work as soon as I add the rule?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Best
Neill
So, i wish to access my OMV(Or my home network) from outside the home work, i have seen several tutorials that involves OpenVPN, is it possible without the above mentioned conditions.
PS:Sorry if this is a dumb question, i am a newbie in the Home server world
Sorry it's a noob question I know but trying to weight up benefits of ethernet for my miners. Regards.
I'm just learning about instrument systems, from what I understand a static port is mounted flush to the fuselage so that it can better measure ambient air pressure. But wouldn't a side mounted port be subject to wind hitting the aircraft on the side? If it does make a difference, is it major?
Hi. I'm basically looking for open source alternatives to Remoteutilities, where you have a viewer, a server, and a one-click host. I need it to work very simply, kinda like Teamviewer, where user just has to give some kind of id and password to the person that wants to connect to his pc. It has to be so simple that even your grandma could run it.
What do I need that for? I use it for remote tutoring. I have used Remoteutilities for few years but I feel it's not the best, to say at least.
Thanks for any recommendations.
Sorry this is a bit of technical question from a newbie... I have MNTD miner and have it up and running, but it is Relayed. I get that i need to do the port forwarding, but I've tried and can't figure it out. I have a ARRIS BGW320 router from AT&T with Gigabit ethernet the then plugs into a Orbi wifi mesh system. I'm also running the MNTD on wifi because it's 400up and down where its located. Even if i did a hard connection, it would have to be off the Orbi system, just based on how my house is wired. So my question is, do I do port forwarding on the Orbi and then static IP on the BGW, or something else? Thanks everyone!
Ok so if your new to bobcat mining like me it can be confusing. this is everything ive learned so far
if the persons house your planning to put this into has att/att uverse that's a deal breaker for me the dam modem is so darn confusing and words everything differently. I put one in my moms house but we found a cheaper internet package that has more speed I think its spectrum and you can use Google wifi with that service i.e your own router. it is EXTREMELY easy to port forward and static ip your bob cat on the google router. I swear I did it in under 3 minutes just watched a simple YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CI4m2fQlD8&list=FL_ErjbedxoKXhU0m6F7X2Ew&index=1&t=150s
the layout has changed but the directions are exactly the same
so far(2/3 days) ive mined about 6$ worth of hnt my moms bobcat has about 8 witnesses . were probally going to mount outside with 5di antenna though. I have a 8dbi antenna at my house ill keep you guys updated which miner mines more. I live in a valley with a bunch of miners over the hill from me
so my moms miner on the att network which i set up days ago seems to be moving allllot slower on the blockchain and its also being relayed , then my miner that I just port forwarded and set static ip
static ip basically means giving it permanent address
when it says " registering hotspot this can take a few minutes so fell free to close this screen" I waited like almost 24 hours in this screen thinking if i left it wouldn't work turns out when I hit "go to wallet" it was already registered it just never took me off that page. so dont be afraid to venture off this page

Hey all,
This is my very first NAS and I'm still super new to it and networking in general. After a lot of research and tutorials, I got a TVS-672X that I'll be using for video editing with RAID 5.
The NAS is connected directly to my PC via an Asus 10Gbe network card. I set the NAS on a static IP and enabled 9k jumbo frames for both the NAS and the ethernet card. The 10G card is still set to DHCP though and I haven't found a direct answer online...
Should I change the 10G card in my PC to a static IP as well? Or is having the NAS set up with a static IP enough so that it never loses connection to my PC?
I don't need the NAS to ever be connected to the internet or need other devices in my network to connect to it, I'm just using it as a big storage drive for my footage and I just want to make sure my footage never goes offline.
Thanks for the help!
Hi Guys,
Have been facing this annoying issue with my system since last Monday. I've built and been using this system for the past 2 years with no issues. Work, Gaming, Etc.
As the title suggests, this issue seems be very random in it's occurrence. And started happening only last week.
I had played some Dota 2 (closed afterwards), watched some YouTube, browsed the net, left it there and hit the bed. (I don't always leave my system on overnight but happens occasionally)
Woke up the next morning and the system had crashed and the orange DRAM LED was flashing. Tried rebooting and it refused to do so.
I took everything apart, dusted the parts, alcohol wiped all the contacts pins for the RAM, GPU and expansion cards. Removed and reseated CPU, applied new paste and cooler.
Shorted CMOS with CLRTC jumper pins. Took out battery and shorted battery socket as well.
Took a good couple of hours but afterwards, when I reassembled everything. It worked and I used the computer for about 8 hours straight with no issues and shut down for the night.
Hoping whatever was causing the issue was fixed, booted up the next morning with no issue and used for a good 4 hours and bam!
[ISSUE]
LAN port gets disabled, major static coming out of headphones, mouse stuttering intermittently, apps hanging or refusing to close, task manager shows my 1TB WD drive at 100% usage, windows explorer takes time to show any drives.
Forcing a shutdown by holding down power button or reset button, system doesn't go past memory check. (Orange LED) Sometimes it keeps blinking, other times it lights up and goes off. But doesn't allow me into bios.
The only fix I've found so far, is to keep the system off for a good couple of hours and turn it back on. And it boots up into bios, windows and I'm able to use it without any issues until it happens again.
Same symptoms every single time. Only difference is how much time I get to use the PC before it happens. Sometimes it happens within 40-50 mins of use. Sometimes after 4-5 hrs. And there are times I've used t
... keep reading on reddit β‘I'm super new to flying. I have about 3hrs flight time. I'm flying a Cessna 172 and there is a static port on the side of the airplane.
Now, with some research I'm told that it measures barometric pressure. However, in trying to find what barometric pressure was, I found that it's simply the weight of air pushing down on you.
So, if this little port on the side of the plane measures barometric pressure, how can it do that if it's on its side. Wouldn't it make sense to have it facing upwards and placed on the roof or the top of the wing of the plane?
I don't know if this makes sense or not, it's just it seems like something super thin on its side would be better at measuring, I don't know, wind pushing against it or something. Certainly not air pressing downward though.
Hello everyone, hoping I can get some help. My dads tv gave out the other day but I didnβt want him to pitch it so trying to see if I can get it working to give back. Itβs an LG 65UF64500. He was watching Dish the other day and noticed it started to cut to static for a brief second. Next day it went out entirely. However it still produced sound, just no picture. Only shows static. Below is what Iβve done to troubleshoot.
The TV still letβs me use the remote to navigate the menu and use apps. Was even getting Netflix to show but it had disconnected from the internet after the reset so didnβt get it going in time before I left.
Is there anything that it could be that could be easily fixed? Is there something in the TV that receives the signal from the hdmi that may be need replaced?
Hi all. I've been having this issue for a while now, and I think I'm close to figuring out how to fix it.
Basically, for the last half a year or so, my Rift S has been crashing after around 30 minutes of gameplay, with the infamous beep + static issue.
Whenever I unplug the headset, I notice that the display port connector (not the actual port in my PC, but the metal end on the cord) is getting super hot, way hotter than the USB connector. I think it may be overheating, but I'm not sure where to go from that.
I would just replace the cable by now, but since Oculus doesn't sell replacements for the Rift S anymore, I can't replace it. Does anybody know what a solution might be? Thanks.
