A sombre-ro

Only to work from home for the rest of the day

Today is truly Friday, De sombre 13th.

... he asked me "Hey dad, how did those shoes get up there?". I sombrely explained to my son that sometimes, when shoes die and they ascend to heaven, the laces get caught up and they get stuck like that.

My Son: "Dad! Shoe's don't go to heaven!", Me: "Of course they do! They've got soles don't they!?"

Today, my dad told me about his friend Deon, and the many nicknames he had when he was job-switching.

Dad: He works on boats now, so we call him Freeon Deon (I didn't actually get this one.)

But before that, when he worked in the lights section of Home Depot, he was Neon Deon.

And when he was a plumber, we called him Peon Deon.

But after a while, he told me, with such a sombre and serious face, that that entire time, Deon's wife worked at one hard, thankless job to keep his spirits up.

Me: What was that Dad?

Dad: Her job... was to Be On Deon.

I notice that there aren't enough straws for everyone. As I take the last one I announce in a sombre tone: "This is the last straw". A collective groan by everyone brought a smile to my face :D
