A list of puns related to "Smart Fortwo"
Itβs staggering to see cities full of SUVs or luxury sedans being driven usually by at most two people, more often just one. Why arenβt small cars like the Smart, more popular? Itβs easier to park, takes up less space in a city, which is very important in a dense environment, and is just generally better suited for people who travel alone most of the time.
Hello! As the title says, I currently drive a Smart car, so I'm already well acquainted with issues people typically have with Sparks/Mirages (louder cabin, accelerating from stop, etc). I'd do anything to keep my 2011 but at 130k miles I'm thinking it's time for something new with more modern features! (I'm seriously in love with my smart car, but it's time!)
I don't know how to drive manual, but even if I did my car may be occasionally borrowed by family and they absolutely can't drive manual, so I'd get the CVT. I hear they're better in the newer Sparks, is that true? Is it fine as long as I replace the trans fluid every 30k miles? How have you liked your newer Sparks so far?
Hello Everyone!
Hereβs an issue with my car and I canβt find what to do: The car drives fine, then suddenly it starts to lose power, you press the accelerator pedal and feels like car donβt want to run, then suddenly again gets power and drives for a second or two then lose again. It can disappear for an short period of time then appears again. When you stop driving when this happens and stay on idle it fluctuates a bit. Have been to a Smart Car specialist (he had the car for 12 days checking and couldnβt find anything) he saying it has to be a fault when he read with the machine, but thereβs no faults at all. Only one fault it comes up (stored) is O2 sensor bank 1, he is saying that it has to be not stored, but current fault, and O2 sensor is potentially an old fault and this should not cause this issue. We changed the spark plugs, cleaned the injectors, checked for the software to update, nothing helps. He saying that the car is not going into limp mode, looks like is more fuel related.
Is anyone experienced the same issue? Or any advice what I can do?

I've just passed my test so want a cheaper first car that I don't need to stress about scratching up and to keep until I'm more confident driving about.
I would love some user feedback on this. I've read a couple of reviews stating the best thing they did was to get them remapped to 80 bhp, but I don't know how much that will affect insurance as it will be my first time insuring a car.
Hi,
Been a fan of Smart Fortwo for a while now and I'm finally ready to pull the trigger.
Most people will tell me it's unsafe, it'll break down easily, it doesn't go too fast, and similar.
However, what I'm most interested is how well it does on the highway.
This will be my only vehicle for a while so sometimes I might need to go to a different city or a vacation.
How does it do? Would you recommend it?
My other options are Golf 4, 320D, generally cars from around the same age. While I understand these might be better options, they're not Smart.
Edit: To provide an update, I decided against it. I read all your comments even if I did not reply to everyone.
You guys provided great advice and I've decided it's not worth having this as my main vehicle.
Perhaps as a second car, it'll do nicely in the future.
Again, thanks for all you kind comments!
Hello I am owner of a 2001 smart fortwo cabrio 450 0,8cc 55hp. Yesterday almost at home I felt a sudden lost of pot. Today I check the car and the throttle is very laggy. And the car don't have power. I have fairly good mechanic knowledge and I check the car. The turbo us ok fuel filter is relatively new. What could be? Air mass sensor? Throttle body? Could I measure the sensors?
Thanks
I made a post recently asking about EVs in Canada to replace my F150. I didn't realize how much of a supply issue there is right now, wow! Still looking to potentially sell the F150 while it's hot, got me thinking of what's actually on the market, which got me looking at the electric smart fortwos. Anyone driven one of these? There are used 2019's selling for really reasonable prices right now around here. Are they reliable, decent battery lifespan?
Greetings all! I just picked up a 2014 Smart ForTwo ED and I LOOOVE it!
Only issue so far is that I only have one key, and the lock/unlock buttons donβt function.
The previous owner stated that he believes the 12v battery was replaced, and they key fob hasnβt worked since then. I am going to replace the battery in the key fob itself just to be sure, but is there some sort of programming that needs to be done if that doesnβt resolve the issue?
Thanks!
Heyo! I'm David, and I'm new here. I'm in the market for a bike mount for my 2013 Smart Fortwo. I'm planning on getting an e-mountain bike, so the bike mount needs to carry a 50lb bike. Anyone got any recommendations?
I'm grouping these two vehicles together due to them being based upon the same vehicle, I bet you couldn't tell that though as one clearly looks like a sports car, the other is just some really small hatchback You'd see somewhere in a Metropolitan area. Clearly. This vehicle will have Primary and Secondary colour options, which change the colour of the "Tiny". With the primary being the Main colour, and the secondary being the white running along the side of the vehicle, the roof will consistently be black on the "Tiny". The "coverup" cannot change the colour of the very real sports car body.
General view of the \"Coverup\"
Oh my god it was actually just the \"Tiny\" underneath.

Hello,
Note: I am in the US
My recently purchased used 2012 Smart Fortwo Passion needs to have its Evap purge valve replaced. My usual mechanic does not have parts for it and told me to go to a Mercedes dealership. There is a very long wait to get an appointment there. My local AutoZone told me they found a compatible part (https://www.autozone.com/emission-control-and-exhaust/canister-purge-valve/p/duralast-canister-purge-valve-pv2002/1056767_0_0) . My usual mechanic does not want to install non-OEM parts for a smart car. Question: is this a reasonable worry or will the part found by AutoZone work, and I just need to find another mechanic to install it?
Thank you!
